The best thing we added at home is a keypad lock to our front and back door.

It's unbelievable how it improves your life - easy to enter a door carrying packages, easy to give the code to someone to let your dogs out if you've been delayed, and you simply can't lock yourself out.

And one less key on your chain.

If the batteries die, you can use keys, but obviously the pad won't work. I got these for my deadbolts and this for my garage door that didn't have a deadbolt. Took them all to the hardware store when I got them to get them re-keyed so they all had the same key.

Get one of those. Best thing ever. You can find them cheaper on ebay, and you can try them out in any hardware store (Home depot, lowes, etc).

Or you can install a combination door lock like this. These are awesome.

Amazon also has some dope lock picking kits and practice locks for less than $20. Leave one of these in your car.
