Definitely go Takara/Tomy over Hasbro, every time, especially for your Masterpieces. The single exception is MP10, Takara planned light piping but disliked the open rear head and scrapped the idea, but kept the blue transparent eyepiece. His eyes are nearly black. Hasbro swapped it out for the preferred "Toyz 'R Us" US edition.
Get yourself a watch repair kit. From Amazon, I paid about £5 (less than 7 bucks). It contains punches for pins, and a plastic piece for holding the toy over and catching the pin (this sort of kit). Watch a Youtube video of the PE kit being applied and you'll have no problems.
