Reddit reviews Settlers of Catan - Fisherman of Catan Expansion

I would HIGHLY recommend the Fisherman of Catan expansion. It costs $3, and really adds many more good spots to the board, especially in a 4 player game. It adds a new resource, fish, which is produced on the ocean tiles, so coastal settlements now produce something. These fish can be traded in for resources, roads, moving the robber, etc. I am a tournament Settlers player and this expansion makes my games with my little sister and father competitive.

Seafarers does tend to make games more balanced, simply because the hex tiles were originally balanced with Seafarers as part of the base game. The addition of gold (wild card hex) makes for some fun games too.

Also, one last tip. If someone clearly emerges as the front runner, try blocking their only source of wheat, and make sure the other players do the same. Without wheat, they can't build settlements or cities, and they cannot buy development cards to get the robber off them. It's the quickest way to slow someone down. Moreover, if you can predict who this frontrunner will be early on (even upon placing starting settlements), make sure the other players understand who the frontrunner is and who they should be robbing from.

Where on Earth did you manage to get Fishermen on Catan from? Its now out of print. All I see is it is impossible to buy except at exorbitant prices on Amazon.
