I remember this show. I saw all of the episodes in first-run, and wasn't sure of it ran one season or two just now. Well, it looks like it ran for under one season, and check out the price at Amazon, with only nine copies left.

It's never been released on Blu-ray either, although perhaps they'll do that soon given that the DVD supply is apparently exhausted.

I had mixed feelings about this show though. It had potential, and some of the episodes weren't bad as I recall, but it never quite lived up to what it could have even though the budget was apparently there. Perhaps it having been cut short early in its run is also a factor. Some shows come out of their first season stronger and this one didn't get that chance.

You're not alone in that. No idea why it's not on any streaming services.

It's a really interesting show because it correctly predicted many things about militaristic sci-fi and war in the future. Much like The X-Files took Twilight Zone/Kolchak/etc. as inspiration and developed something that influenced all paranormal shows we've seen since, S:AAB combined war literature, Heinlein's Starship Troopers and CGI in a way that paved the way for shows like BSG.

In 1995, they showed a family watching a battle in real-time on a large, wallmount flatscreen. Terrorism was presented as a major reason for the creation of the cloned humans. It heavily referenced WWII several years before Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers etc. made dramatized portrayals of WWII an omnipresent thing in popular (and later video game) culture, rather than a niche genre history buffs and veterans enjoyed.

It was one of the first shows to use full CGI rather than models, and their CGI company developed a now-common technique of building a model and changing the camera angle to make recurring shots less repetitive.

The show certainly has some issues, but it gets better as it goes. You can see eps on YouTube, the US release DVDs are ~$20 (don't buy used IMO -- the first run had bad disks), and the Collector's Edition with the commentaries I mentioned is Region 2 only ATM.

Sorry that got so long -- I just can't resist talking about it when Morgan/Wong X-Files eps are mentioned. :D

How about Space Above and Beyond? Old but good military sci-fi TV series.
