I use these EVA mats for VR. I play a lot of onward and need to drop to the ground as quick as possible. At first I thought that I would unpiece them and put in the closet when not doing VR, but they end up in the corner of the room when I'm not playing.
They do shift around, but you can cut one of them to fit the width of your playspace to prevent them from shifting.

Do you intend to sandwich your foam between Worbla? If so, here is a roll of thin craft foam that you can buy from Michael's. I usually find it for purchase in the actual store, so if you have one nearby, you should stop in and see if you can get a roll or two and avoid shipping costs.

If you are wanting to make the helmet solely out of foam (the cheaper option), you will need something a little thicker and sturdier, such as this, which you can also buy at Home Depot (for cheaper) in the flooring section. Here is the first video of a 3-part step-by-step series of a guy making a helmet out of this foam.

Hope this helps!
