To answer your questions:

  1. Taking a good long shit and a shower before starting is usually enough for me. Some probably like the extra squeeky feeling of an enema, but it's not necessary. (Though I recommend increasing your fiber intake as it promotes regularity and cleaner passage). Trim nails if you're using fingers.
