Tamiya America, Inc Photo-Etched Craft Saw, TAM74094
These craft saws feature 0.1mm thick photo-etched blades to allow precision cuts on your models. When you use a standard craft saw for modification, you have to consider the thickness of the blade itself. However, as the blade of this item is very thin, the cut line is also very smallThese stainless steel blades are very convenient for applying modifications to 1/35 scale figures and cutting away control surfaces of aircraft modelsIt is also possible to attach the saws to Item 74040 Modeler's Knife for easier handling

In regards to the sword

Get a thin hobby saw ( https://www.amazon.com/Tamiya-300074094-Photo-Etched-Craft-Saw/dp/B003JTGZY4 ). Cut right below the guard along the top of the hand on both the left and right (edit: handed swords). You may need to file an angle into it to get it to match, but then glue and use some plastic filler or liquid green stuff to fill any gaps.

I actually use plastic sprue shavings and melt them with extra thin cement as a plastic filler (i doesn't take much. only need to touch the brush to it.)

Good luck

Use one of these https://www.amazon.com/Tamiya-TAM74094-Photo-Etched-Craft-Saw/dp/B003JTGZY4 (which are fragile as hell and took much trial and error to learn to use) if you need precise cuts.

Otherwise, I just scribe a guide with a needle scriber and cut the piece with a hobby saw. Shredding "extra" plastic is of no consequence if you plan on extending or shortening the part any way.
