Ok, I totally understand- I've just heard the argument against using computers hundreds of times, coming from people who think that an all-analog workflow is better. But even the big record companies use digital workstations lol
Tascam used to have some pretty great stuff on the cheap; it looks like their newer stuff is a lot more expensive. This seems to be the lowest entry computer/audio interface replacement tascam makes. It's $500.00, but you'll be able to do everything you need on it without touching a computer.
This might be a stupid question but I'm new to this and honestly confused. I would like to be able to record at least four condenser microphones at once, and would prefer to be able to send those to my computer on separate tracks. I think all I need is a mixer with phantom power, but I'm really not sure. I can spend up to $500. I'm considering getting something like this. If I need more equipment please let me know.
