I'm going to explain it even though explaining a joke kind of kills the entire thing.

First, there is a stereotype among hipsters that they don't consider popular works of bands to be valid art, and in this vain often refer to their nascent periods as being more "pure" and respectable. Hipsters feel they score double point if they actually listened to that band before they "sold out."

The Kama Sutra is an "ancient Indian Hindu text widely considered to be the standard work on human sexual behavior in Sanskrit literature written by Mallanāga Vātsyāyana," and has been popularized in Western culture with reprinting of original illustrations as well as modernized versions which show the positions in photographs. Just the kind of pop culture thing a hipster would scoff at.

Just an added extra twist to this one for real history buffs; Vātsyāyana was a holy man and earlier writings have nothing to do with sex at all. In fact, they are mostly pious and metaphysical. One could imagine a hipster being hinted at for sex by a girl pointing to a position in the Kama Sutra and completely obliviating the point by pulling out this gem.

After visiting the Khajuraho temples, I started looking into the Kama sutra.
