I'm trying to decide on a Timex Weekender to be paired mainly with casual/denim clothing. The more versatile, the better. It appears the main things to decide on are 1. case size (40mm or 38mm), 2. face style (chronograph or standard), 3. face color, and 4. strap color. Below are a few of the options I've been looking at; I'm open to other ideas also.

I'm looking to buy a nice ($200-$800) watch to use as an engagement gift/proposal. He expressed interest in the size, shape, and coloring of this timex weekender but I want something a little nicer. Aesthetically the Shinola Runwell Chrono is perfect. But, I've heard people tend to dislike Shinola because of its a high costs for a quartz based watch. I don't know much about this topic and was wondering what reddit thinks. Should I get the Shinola? Do you have suggestions that have a similar look?

It’s blue, a chronograph, quartz movement means it won’t need much maintenance beyond a battery every few years, and has a leather strap that makes it a bit more dressy.

I get compliments on my Timex Weekender Chrono very often. "Can't stop looking at it", a friend said the other day.
I have this one https://www.amazon.com/Timex-TW2R63200-Weekender-Double-Layered-Slip-Thru/dp/B072L3ZW39/ and its very versatile. Wear it pretty much every day (except suit days, for those I break out my cream faced, thinner watch). It's not restrictive at all.
Recommend immediately tossing the leather strap that comes with it. Feels like a bandaid. Replace with some basic NATO straps (white/blue, blue/red, white/blue/red, black/grey, olive, etc).
