Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force Omnibus comes out at the end of this month. It's hard to express just how amazing and awesome his run on that title was! Definitely worth checking out!

Also, if you really enjoyed Morrison's Animal Man run I'd highly recommend checking out the New X-Men Omnibus. It's top-notch!

There are a few different places you can start:

If you HAVE to start from the beginning just read the first 24 issues, you can then skip over to Claremont's era

My recommendation would be to either start with Chris Claremont's 1st era (aka 70's) & 2nd era (aka 80's) on Uncanny X-Men or from 2001-ish (aka modern X-Men) time period onwards onwards. Either way just skip the 90s for now, you can alway go back to that later.

  • Claremont's first era (70s): You can buy them HERE and HERE

  • Claremont's second era (80's): You can buy them HERE and HERE

If you want to start with Modern X-Men...

  • ...you can start with Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men which you can buy HERE

  • Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men start's right where Morrison's New X-Men leaves off and you can buy that HERE and HERE

From there you can get caught up pretty easily if you follow this list in order:

  • House of M (buy here)
  • Messiah Complex (buy here)
  • Second Coming(buy here)
  • Schism (buy here)
  • Avengers Vs X-Men (buy here)

From there I would move on to the current All-New X-Men and Uncanny X-Men titles:

  • Read all of All-New X-Men (pre Battle of the Atom Crossover) Buy here: VOL 1 & VOL 2 / VOL 3
  • Read all of Uncanny X-Men (pre Battle of the Atom Crossover) Buy Here: VOL 1 / VOL 2
  • Read Battle of the atom crossover (buy here)
  • Catch up with All-New X-Men VOL 4 / TRIAL OF JEAN GREY / VOL 5
  • Catch up with Uncanny X-Men VOL 3 / VOL 4

Great, now you're all caught up!

PS, the great thing about X-Men is there is a ton of content to explore aside from the main storyline!

  • X-Statix (buy here)
  • Uncanny X-Force (buy here)
  • X-Factor (starts with these two: HERE and HERE)
  • Cable & Deadpool (buy here)
  • Wolverine & The X-Men (buy here)
  • Ultimate X-Men (start HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE)

    ...and much more!

    Happy reading! :)

Joe Kelly's Run

Cable and Deadpool

If you like a wackier Deadpool then Daniel Way's Run (1of4)

Remender's Uncanny X-Force

For an Alternate Universe Deadpool but a great read check out Killology by Cullen Bunn Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, Deadpool Killustrated, Deadpool Kills Deadpool.

Deadpool's Current Marvel Now

Also go check out /r/Deadpool. There's lots of reading lists on there as well.

There is an Omnibus coming out any moment or it already has been released recentlly.

EDIT: http://www.amazon.com/Uncanny-X-Force-Rick-Remender-Omnibus/dp/0785185712

u/gandalf_grey_beer · 4 pointsr/comicbooks

It's already a complete run (35 issues).

The first trade is this one.

If you start liking it and you like omnibuses, you can also pick the recently released omnibus.

The marvel now one is a different x-force team and IMO not a really good one. This is the Uncanny X-force run by Rick Remender that Deadpool is awesome in, along with many other cool things about that series. I don't know if it is on Marvel Unlimited though sorry

If you wanna check out a really badass team I'd recommend X-Force, vol. 3 which starts with this trade. It's my personal favorite team (mostly because of X-23). It's a very dark and gritty version of X-force and Mike Choi's art is definitely some of the best in the business.

A very close second best, IMO, is Remender's X-force. It comes in an omnibus which I would also highly recommend.

And if you want my two cents the two newer ones (Marvel Now) suck balls.

I was browsing Amazon today and I noticed that the Uncanny X-Force omni is scheduled for March: Amazon Listing.
Thought you guys might like to know.

That's true for IN PRINT omnibus, but Astonishing Xmen isnt in print. It's 2+ years out of print. All marvel omnibus go out of print and then skyrocket. Look at Uncanny Xforce - $70 in june. $160 in December. (more than double... in 6 months)

There is nowhere that Astonishing Xmen Omnibus exists at that price. Astonishing xmen omnibus is long OOP. Here is the cheapest on eBay currently - with a damaged cover for $130 shipped.

IST hasnt had that in stock since 2012...

Here is the cheapest NEW one on amazon - $292 shipped

Here is the cheapest amazon USED one - without a dust jacket and with shelf wear for $169

What you think the price is and what it actually is are different. Omnibus are just as collectible as floppies are and people are just now starting to realize it. IF you want a used one - you'd be lucky to find it for <$150 in mint condition. IF you want a new one, you're looking at $250+

Some other food for thought - Infinite Crisis DC omnibus is also 200+, so is Captain America brubaker. There is a huge collector group of people who only collect omni, because they are cool and they go up in value. There are plenty of Omnis that are in the $50-80 range but they wont be in a year, so if there is one youre looking at now, you should grab it - next year, it wont be that price.

Here's Grim Hunt which is the culmination of everything that happens in The Gauntlet.

This is the first volume of the gauntlet and this has one of my favorite stories from the "event." Vol 2 has Mysterio and Rhino, with Rhino being one of the most memorable Spidey stories for me, but it seems to be out of print. It's probably best to start with Electro, but I jumped around a bit after that didn't feel like I was missing anything.

Marvels is here. There's also a sequel called "Marvels: Eye of the Camera which I haven't read.

Here's the first volume of Uncanny X-Force and here's the omnibus if you want to dive right in to the deep end.

Cheers!

Yep. Take a look at Amazon.

I paid $70 for mine and still haven't opened it (I keep a massive backlog).

u/DementiaPrime · 1 pointr/comicbooks

And what is so special about another collected edition of it? I mean there is already the omnibus that came out earlier this year and collects it all and is already out.

Right i'm bored in work so here are some suggestions!

Joss Whedons Astonishing X-Men Run - Great run and you can tell how much Whedon loves these characters

Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman - Never been a fan of the Four but Hickman has a great GREAT run here. Bit long and drawn out but if you like a slow build with a massive pay off this will be right up your street

Uncanny X-Force by Rick Rememnder Probably my most favored run out of marvel the last few years, great stories, great characters and a great ending.

If you enjoyed Saga basically anything from Image the last couple of years are fantastic and i genuinely prefer it to Marvel/Dc. My recommendations being Manhattan Projects, East of West, Black Science, Deadly class. The first two have a few volumes each and the last two have recently released their first trades.

What other characters do you love?

Would you say this would allow me to jump right in? I've never really played around with X-force at all.
