In case you didn't know, fast charging relies on what you plug the cable into.
If you use the brick that the came with the phone or a third party quickcharge 3.0 wall charger, it will fast charge.

It even accommodates cases. It's not fast charging, limited to 1.5A output to the phone, but it might be possible to alter it to use a Google charger. I'll have to buy another and attempt a tear-down.
