It's a a small electronic box with a USB cable and various type of input plug types.
You open the program and hit play on the input device. Then you hit a record button the program. The computer screen shows you the input image with the sound played over the pc speakers.
You just hit stop on the program when you want to end the recording.
You can make color and sound adjustments on the program as your media is being recorded.

Have you guys tried something like this? It would provide a digital file instantly without the DVD ripping step. Of course, you don't have the DVD backup immediately, but you could make one.

Why don't you just convert all those VHS tapes to DVD yourself?
