  • Some Dash cams have low voltage cut off features built in: Mostly BlackSys/Thinkware products.

  • Other dash cams require a hardwire kit with a low voltage cut off feature: Mostly BlueSkySea, VIOFO, BlackVue, Street Guardian.

    Most hardwire kits have a Low Voltage Cut Off Feature.

  • Some are (Adjustable) 11.8v-12.4v Voltage/Timer based ($24-27 USD)

  • Some are (Adjustable) 11.8v-12.4v Voltage only ($15 USD)

  • Some are (Preset/Not Adjustable) 11.8v Voltage only ($10 USD)

  • Others are improperly setup 11.6v = Dead battery Do not Buy

    12.4v = Normal use

    11.8v->12.2v = Deep cycling - 1/2s the expected battery life

    11.6v = Dead battery.

    It also matters what type of fuse you tap into:

    2 Wire hardwire kit: You have a choice to make (Always on)= Parking mode, (Ignition only) = No Parking mode.

  • Always on (Parking mode) = These fuses are common, but there are many you should avoid. - Safety/Alarms/Headlights/AC/Front Wiper/Anything that you need to operate your vehicle should be avoided. - Common choices are: Rear wiper/Empty slot/Rear power windows.

  • Other fuses are: Ignition only (No Parking mode) - These fuses are rare rare - Cig Lighter/Power Outlet/Radio.

  • Ground Wire to unpainted bolt completes the circuit in a DC system.

    Generally 2 wire systems detect if the vehicle is on/off via G sensor/Motion sensor inactivity.

    3 Wire Hardwire kit:

  • Always on = BAT = Powers dash cam

  • Ignition only = ACC = How the dash cam detects if the vehicle is On/Off.

  • Ground wire to unpainted bolt.

    3 Wire hardwire kits can be G sensor/Motion sensor detection, but generally they detect via the Ignition key position/wires to fuse box.

    ---

    Even if you do not plan on using parking mode, it is bad form to purchase hardwire kits with improperly setup low voltage cut off features.

This is what I'm getting to hardwire it in, it's Viofo's own kit:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KZGM9LS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=APVAUZZOJUWDA&psc=1

I don't know anything about the polarizing filter though, but I'm buy curious about it.

Mine will do the same.

This is the hardwire kit: https://www.amazon.com/Viofo-3-Wire-Hardwire-A129-Camera/dp/B07KZGM9LS

Do you have fuse taps already? I didn't see them in your cart? This one is the same hardwire kit you have in your cart but has options for different size fuse taps. Alternatively, this one has the cam plus hardwire kit with fuse taps for the same price with additional trim removal tools and a simple fuse checker to see which fuses are live when the car is off.

Would you advise this setup then?

Also just considering the Blackvue DR590W-2CH or Blackvue DR750S-2CH with the BlackVue Power Magic Pro.

Is the 750 worth an extra £60 over the 590?

And how does the rear camera connect? Would I need a 2nd hardwire kit for parking mode?

The easiest way is to get the A119 and the [associated hardwire kit](https://www.amazon.com/Viofo-3-Wire-Hardwire-A129-Camera/dp/B07KZGM9LS/ref=asc_df_B07KZGM9LS/$tag= rdtdshcmsb-20) which will enable parking mode without fully discharging your battery.
