You can eliminate a lot of that by bridging the upper receiver and the rail with another rail, gaining the benefits of a monolithic without it being... monolithic.

I don't think so. You can very easily see a 1 degree tilt with your eyes. 1 degree is a pretty large angle. It is tough to see tenths of a degree, which is really what this level is designed to help you resolve.

It doesn't have to right out of the box. You level out this level and your scope together. All it does is ensure that your rifle is in the same configuration as it was when you put it on, not that it is truly level.

But that's good enough if you use a third measure to level out the whole rifle against gravity.

That USO level isn't really doing anything more than this Vortex level at <1/2 the price. It just mounts on your scope, which is even better at reducing variables in angle.
