Eh, yea. I'm not one to support such high markups on things so simple as this (a plastic trim with a few cheap fabric/fake leather pads to wrap around it). $40 is pretty ridiculous, let alone $60. This is why I went with the much cheaper VRology pad (https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Gear-Face-Replacement-Cushion/dp/B01HRGPRAC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1542724745&sr=8-3&keywords=vrology). I think I got it at half price, and it took about 10 minutes of cutting and sticking it to the Rift with velcro tape. I removed the plastic interface and it completely eliminated god rays for me, improved FOV (negating the reduction taken from TPCast a bit), and honestly feels a little more comfortable to me.

by the way, i have the VR D2 headset. they're comfortable enough, but there is definitely light coming in from around my nose. also, they bug my eyes a bit. i'm 40 and it feels like the screen is a little too close. bringing the fresnel lens as close to my face as possible helps, but i could stand for it to have a little more room to travel.
i've heard something like this helps for getting a better fit and blocking the light a little more. there are other versions and you could even do your own if you want to buy foam and cut to fit.
Yeah then I'm pretty sure its the replacement foam that helps. I bought this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HRGPRAC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s03?ie=UTF8&psc=1 , though there are other and cheaper versions out there. Just make sure it fits your edition of the Gear VR
If you don't use glasses, one can get velcro tape and put VR cover foam on it. I personally use soft pad for gear vr. Edit: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Gear-Face-Replacement-Foam/dp/B01HRGPRAC and yes, it does help a lot with looking through goggle effect.
Based on this reddit post indicating the GearVR pad from VRCover works on Lenovo Explorer, I purchased a cheaper GearVR pad from Amazon. It uses the same velcro so I know it will at least stick to the front, but I can't confirm for sure if the fit is perfect since it is still in shipping. I can update you in a couple days.
