To get around this, you could look at indoor ones and point them out windows. There are tons of options on Amazon in the $30 range, and you don't have to worry about external wiring (or even check local ads for used nanny cams). For a reasonable outdoor setup, they have great trail cams like this that are very reasonable for what they provide. No wiring, and records to an SD card so you don't have to worry about wifi. You could even throw up one real camera and get a pack of fake ones like theses. To hopefully prevent her from even thinking about coming back, grab an image from the real camera, forward it to the ex to show you're prepared.
