There is a spot on the trunk hatch that comes with a plastic red bar from the factory.

I bought my car used so I'm not 100% on what happened to mine. But apparently it's not required by US law so dealers take them out? I went and bought a new one to replace it. Other people use the space as a way to keep an umbrella in their car.
