$250 (for those pessimists) GB Pockit Stroller Monument Black 2016 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019HWLUXW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_h5u3xb0BNV2R0

u/jackasseress · 35 pointsr/beyondthebump

Ehhh they cost $500. I'd call that pretty pricey compared to the Travel System I got by Graco, which includes a car seat and base, and stroller that the car seat clicks into as well as having a toddler seat. With the Yoyo I would still have to spend an additional $50 each on a stroller and car seat, probably more.

Edit: forgot to mention I got the Graco Travel System for like $350

>after the baby outgrows the infant car seat, does he still need to sit in a car seat in the stroller, or do we just graduate to a convertible car seat in the car and go without in the stroller

Yes, the baby will just go in the stroller.

> are most convertible car seats compatible with most strollers?

Convertible car seats cannot be put in a stroller. They are intended to stay in your car.

>Basically...what do we need while buying the least amount of stuff?

You can use a convertible car seat from newborn through toddler if you want to! (See here!) You don't need to start with an infant seat at all. So, if buying the least amount of things is important to you, maybe look into doing that instead. Then, you'd only need...

  • One convertible car seat per car

  • One stroller (that can be converted from pram to regular stroller like this, because infants can't sit in a forward-facing stroller until about 6 months or whenever they're able to sit unassisted)

If you are set on getting an infant seat, then you'll want...

  • One "travel system" - this typically includes one infant seat + one base for the car + one stroller (that clips the infant seat into it and converts to a regular stroller after the infant stage) - like this

  • Additional bases (and, if needed, additional infant seats) per car

  • One convertible car seat for when baby outgrows the infant seat, per vehicle

We did the second example I mentioned, and I kind of regret it. I feel like we spent much more money doing it this way, mainly because we have two cars (so we needed two bases, two convertible seats, etc.). But the benefit of doing it that way is being able to take baby in and out of the car in the seat, rather than risking waking them up by taking them out of the convertible seat. But, I have friends who did the convertible seat from birth and it worked out great for them, so I hope to do that when we have our second!

We have this and love it.

http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Jogger-City-Select-Stroller/dp/B003Q85CRY

Lots of different configurations you can do and the seats recline far enough that an infant can sleep in them no problem. (we did get infant inserts from target at 10 bucks a pop.) We also have a glider board attachment so our three year old can sit / stand behind it as well.

Can't recommend this one enough.

Edit: missed your username. We'll see how you feel about that in a couple months after the twins. :)

I had the Nuna Pipa with baby 1, and the Mesa with baby 2. Also had the Vista.

They are all the wrong answers. 😭

You want the Doona. It’s a car seat with wheels on it. It’s magical. I had so much jealousy when a mom friend showed up with one of these. I wish I’d known!! If wasn’t so close to being out of the bucket when I saw it I would have burned another $500 to get it.

Also have the vista. It rocked as a single and sucks balls as a double. The 2 seats don’t really fit that well and you don’t have good options on arrangements for them. The balance is super weird with that lower seat on so it’s super hard to turn. I hate it. I bought this much cheaper one and haven’t touched my vista since. If you’re set on a higher end stroller I’d look at the city mini (or whichever the double is) because it can be arranged in a more logical way. Or if you’re planning on jogging get a nice jogging stroller. I’m so bitter than my vista didn’t work out. I spent $$$$ tricking it out as a double.

My kids are exactly 2.5 years apart btw. Joovy is a way better combo for them because my daughter wants up and down and the bench seat/stand option is really perfect for her.

(The snoo on the other hand is the best big $ item I bought. It was worth every damn penny)

Graco car seats are fantastic, and the car seat is the important part. I’d go for this one: Graco Fast Action SE Travel System

u/LRose1825 · 3 pointsr/JulyBumpers2017

After I read this I made DH come to the store with me to see the strollers and check out if the one I picked out on-line was one I really did like. It was totally eye opening! The one I thought was perfect (only saw it on Amazon) looked cheap and didn't move well at all so we talked to the nice lady there and found one that we both like and is exactly what we want. It's less expensive on Amazon than in the store and there's a set with the car seat/base included with the stroller! When I saw the price originally I was a bit skeptical, but in the store the stroller itself was $330 and the seat itself is over $100, so it's actually a good deal.

Edit - Of course I looked over this thread again and found out things I didn't know, so I updated my registry with just the stroller in this set and a different multi stage car seat and an infant car seat.

u/Divine18 · 3 pointsr/predaddit

Alright so we’re not carless but a one car family. So while my husband has the car for work I do all the running around with the kid (and baby when he’s done cooking) alone. Also when our oldest was born we lived in Germany and I grew up in a big city. Most people walk or take the bus/subway there.

We have tried several things.

car seat since we do have a car and needed to drive to and from the hospital we kind of needed one. We bought a Graco snug fit car seat while it was on sale. With base and beltway. It also was airline approved since we knew we’d be flying with baby and having baby have her own seat in the plane made things so much easier on us during the transatlantic flight.

Stroller(s)
We have bought 4. Super expensive to super cheap umbrella stroller.

  • expensive stroller: we bought this one in Germany. I love it. It’s super versatile, you can take the bassinet part off and carry baby while sleeping in there wherever you need. You can use the bassinet as a sleeping place when visiting people. It swings a bit or you can extent tiny feet that will block the swinging motion.
The sport seat can be turned forward or backward. The springs are amazing!! I literally pushed the thing through fields and grass and little one sleep away happily.
The only negative thing I’ve found is that it doesn’t have free moving front wheels. And it is bulky. It’s also a bit wide for american sidewalks.

  • umbrella stroller: utter crap. I hate it. While it’s nice you can fold it up and it barely takes up space. My arms where to short so I always have to hunch over, it’s noisy, i kept kicking the wheels/axle because apparently i make too large steps. Not fun.

  • Graco click connect snugrider: fit perfectly for our car seat. We used this while at the airport since we didn’t want to bring the expensive stroller out of fear that it’ll get damaged when checking it at the terminal. We bought that one on sale for $60 and it did perform amazingly for what we needed it to.

  • Baby Trend Jogging stroller: bought this when we moved to the states and our dd was a bit older (15 months) my husband was away for 2 weeks (with the car) and I needed something easier to manage on limited american sidewalk space. We live on a military base so I can do all the shopping and medical stuff by foot. It works great. The only thing I’m not too happy with is the harness. It looks a bit loose and is hard to fit to a smaller child.

So when it comes to strollers I honestly would have rather spent a bit more money on a jogging stroller than buying the $600 german monster, so I’d have the same comfort for baby as the $600 one but smaller and more manageable. I hope that makes sense. In Germany the $600 one was amazing. But Germany is a bit better laid out for pedestrians than the US. Maybe a bit smaller than the one we got but quality wise and versatility wise it’s my winner.

    Baby Carriers
I absolutely adore them. We/I have tried a few.

  • Moby Wrap: nice way to get used to wrapping babies and very comfortable to wear. However since the material is stretchy I couldn’t really relax and just not have a hand on baby because i always felt like o have to redo it and re tighten it.

  • Ring Sling: no thank you. Our baby was a super chunk and carrying the weight on one side of my hip gave me so much back pain. So much hip pain and the rings pushed into my skin and bruised me.

  • Soft Structured Baby Carrier: we have a Tula Baby Carrier and it’s amazing. You can carry your baby on your chest (no you can’t forward face baby. That is not good for their hips. Ever. In any carrier. Just because a carrier offers that option doesn’t mean it’s good for their hip development) and when they’re old enough to hold their heads up reliably on your back like a backpack. The weight is distributed evenly throughout your shoulders/back/hip. Yes you’ll have some back pain at the end of a long day. But you do have that if you’re lugging around any backpack. We carried our daughter a lot. My husband loved it because she’d fall asleep on his chest when we were walking, shopping, sightseeing or hiking. Also keeps Baby grabbers at bay lol. And if your wife wants to nurse, you can nurse while baby is in the carrier! That’s a game changer! It takes practice and especially in a SSC an older baby who knows how to nurse and latch.

  • Woven Wrap Carrier: we haven’t gotten to try it yet since we lost the baby we bought it for and our rainbow is still cooking. But I hope it’ll take away the feeling of having to rewrap because the material doesn’t stretch.

So for living in a big city I’d recommend having a small, agile stroller and definitely a baby carrier. Especially if you go shopping you can put the groceries into the stroller and push baby. If you just want to be out and about a soft structured carrier (SSC) is worth its weight in gold. And you’re more mobile and fit into crowded places like the subway easier.

I hope that helps you decide what to do :) good luck.

Not much help here - I’m leaving a comment to find this post later

So far, I’ve just got this and...that’s pretty much it...

This is what we used and we loved it. Joovy has a snap n to stroller with a third seat. I recently met a lady with twins and an older toddler and she swore by this thing. I travel a lot with my LO, and a couple of things have made all the difference for me: the GB pockit+ stroller is KEY. It’s not the smoothest ride, but when you’re trying to fit everything in a cab or rental car you will thank the good lord you have it. Also, the Evenflo LX tribute car seat. I use it exclusively for travel, it’s suuuuuuper light weight (clutch when trying to get everything in or out of the airport) but a great car seat. It’s also a cinch to install and uninstall in Uber’s when you want to be fast.

And: stroller clips, you’ll find a million uses when traveling (I used them the clip the hotel blinds closed during nap time, or clip a muslin blanket over LO like a canopy during a long car ride to stay out of the sun.)

If your baby still uses bottles there’s also a great travel bottle wash kit and drying rack that is my go to. Travel with the kiddo is so special, happy to chat more if you want more info! Good luck!

I love this stroller so much that every time I use it I end up singing it's praises. It's worth every penny!

Also, it's less expensive from Amazon: http://smile.amazon.com/Baby-Jogger-City-Select-Stroller/dp/B003Q85CRY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1410236822&sr=8-4&keywords=Baby+jogger+city+select+double

I got Britax car seats to go with it because the Britax adaptor is super easy to use, and less pricey than the universal one they offer.

Have I mentioned how much I love my stroller?

u/stormwaterwitch · 2 pointsr/pregnant

We got a Carseat/ Stroller Combo from Graco Stroller is easy to set up and pick up/breakdown is easy. Stroller is lightweight, car seat works with any Graco Click Connect Car Seats. It was easy enough to set up

u/blondebrunette · 2 pointsr/Parenting

Kolcraft cloud plus lightweight. this one
Unfortunately we’ve had it about a year now so I don’t think I could return it. I love it outside of this issue.

This may just be my two, and not really a twin thing, but Miracle Blankets.

https://www.amazon.com/Miracle-Blanket-15799-Swaddle-Blue/dp/B000G0KQWQ/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1479392777&sr=8-2&keywords=miracle-blanket&th=1

Anything else they struggle and and get cranky because they get their arms up, but not all the way out. They will fight anything else forever.

Also a Baby Breeza bottle sterilizer. Ours runs 24/7. Also take however many bottles you think you need and add at least four, probably six.

We also have this duel carrier:

https://twingocarrier.com/

We have never used it as a double, but it breaks into two singles pretty well and cheaper than two individual carriers.

Edit: Forgot one, strollers. We did a ton of research and this one seemed the best for doubles:

https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Jogger-City-Select-Stroller/dp/B003Q85CRY

Not cheap at all, but if it is in the budget I don't think there is a better twin stroller out there.

Good luck. I also recommend keeping the fridge stocked with wine and beer, but maybe that is just us. :)

u/nova_lee · 2 pointsr/parentsofmultiples

I know you said you wanted in line, but we have this and love ithttp://www.amazon.com/JOOVY-Scooter-Double-Stroller-Black/dp/B00O20OPTQ
It is so so easy to push, folds up easily with one hand, and fits thru doorways! And a huge bonus, it's so much cheaper than most of them!

u/_curtis_ · 1 pointr/artc

If you have a Graco car seat I would highly recommend the Graco Relay. It comes with the click in car seat adapter and I've seen the price dip well under $200. I have a Bob double jogger now and I'd put the quality right up there with Bob.

u/SugaredSalmon · 1 pointr/parentsofmultiples

This is the one we have (well, an older version)

http://www.amazon.com/Contours-Options-Tandem-Stroller-Velvet/dp/B00M9ZR8XQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450470466&sr=8-1

It is perfect for our needs and maybe will the bill for you: many positions for the babies, either in regular seats or car seats, and inline. The newer version appears to be shorter than my old version, which looks nice. Universal car seat adapters. No third seat, but they do sell universal gliding boards that attach at the back. My singleton just turned 3 before the twins were born, and had been forced to start walking on errands early on in my pregnancy because I couldn't lift him into strollers or carts any more. The contours stroller, at least my version, has a toddler handle on either side and he holds onto it and walks. We do 95% of the household errands with myself and the three kids, all under age 4. The basket is generous underneath, but I also ordered these hooks for the handlebars, and I attach a store's hand basket to them when shopping: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002MXP3SM/ref=sr_rp_1?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&ie=UTF8&qid=1450470916&sr=sr-1&keywords=Stroller+hooks

Good luck!

I really recommend something modular. They're just much more versatile with a lie flat option, and you *could* snap the the car seat in if you wanted to (like if she was sleeping and you didn't want to wake her). But the lie flat means you could use it now.

We had this one by phil&teds and loved it. I liked that the seat itself converted so I didn't have to store an extra piece when not in use. I also liked that it can go parent facing. They make a Chicco adapter.

I did see though that Chicco made their own stroller in this style. As another option.

u/kezrin · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

The Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System is a great budget friendly, but still has all the extra features of a higher end system.

I have the Chicco Urban 6-in-1 Modular Stroller and Chicco Fit2 Infant & Toddler Car Seat it doesn’t come as a set, but the two are compatible to form a travel system type set up with just what comes out the box (no additional attachments to buy). It’s a bit more expensive than the evenflo, but I liked the way it maneuvered and such better than the evenflo when I was testing them out in the store. Plus the KeyFit2 is one of the best car seats on the market (and can be used with premies).

My biggest recommendation is go to the store and physically touch, maneuver, fold, unfold, and attach and detach the car seat for whatever system you are considering. A lot can be learned from reading online reviews and asking for anecdotal reviews, but nothing beats having your hands on a demo model and trying it for yourself.

Check with your insurance and hospital and make sure you have total coverage. If you can or have an HSA start saving money now so you can pay for the delivery with some nice tax-free money. If you have the means, you can usually negotiate a pay now/today price with the hospital and save money. A normal delivery is anywhere from $6k to $10k usually.

Be with your wife. The first trimester is rocky. She will probably be hormonal, unstable, unsure, nauseted and hungry. So be present, supportive and always have snacks. Also whatever you did she's right and you're wrong. Period. Just go with it.

For you, start preparing! I really enjoyed the simplicity but depth of The Pregnancy Book for Men. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1601066546/
PM me your info and I can share a Kindle version if you'd like. This guy does a great job of laying it all out for first time dad's.

Other notable milestones.... Second trimester she is usually over the sickness and really active so be ready for some adventures.

Towards the end of the second trimester it's not uncommon for her to want to nest. So be thinking about where the baby will go. I personally had to paint ceiling, walls, and put in new flooring. Start hunting for cheap furniture you'll need. Got most things cheap at IKEA personally or from friends. Having it all ready around month 7 or 8 was good. You hope your little one doesn't come early but you never know - so be prepared!

Consider a rocking chair/ glider. Great for chilling with a new born. You'll both be scared a lot of those first nights and appreciate it. It helps with breast feeding too.

Have plenty of sheets, blankets, towels, etc. Ready for baby. Practice swaddlling a small pillow or a cat or ecen small dig. Become a swaddlling pro. Newborns jitter while they sleep and can essentially wake themselves up. Swaddlling prevents this and helps them sleep longer and better. Sleep will be the most prized thing you and your wife can have those first 6 months.

If your wife plans on breast feeding... Start researching breast pumps. Very useful if you're wife plans on working it returning to work after leave. Your insurance/HSA may help cover the cost. A good one can run about $300.

I highly recommend a boppy pillow. They're great for holding newborns. Napping. And breast/bottle feeding. They're good for tummy too.
Available at Target here: https://www.target.com/p/boppy-174-sketch-slate-nursing-pillow-and-positioner-gray/-/A-52856960

Around month 7 or 8 your wife may get serious about a stroller. Shop around. Consider them an investment don't be afraid to have 2 or 3 to meet your needs. I recommend a jogger if you plan on actually running with your baby. But definitely consider a compact umbrella stroller for travelling as joggers can he massive even when folded. My favorite travel stroller that has been to 15 states and 13 countries and I dunno how many planes GP Pockit Stroller found here: https://www.amazon.com/Pockit-Lightweight-Stroller-Satin-Black/dp/B079H2ZR8P/

Also around third trimester get a good carseat system that you like. Consider multiple cars, bases, and stroller comparability. No right answer here just lots of preferences. But get one early and install it early. And learn how to install it early. You'll be exhausted after the delivery and hanging out in the hospital parking lot with your wife and newborn for an hour while you figure it out then is not ideal. Trust me. Get it early and become a car seat ninja so it's right every time and you can do it effortlessly.

Also pack a bag with a change of clothes for both of you and some newborn clothes in a range of sizes so you can exit the hospital in style.

Establish a care with a physician you like and a clinic. You'll have lots of follow-ups, well child checks, vaccines, and tests that first year.

Be prepared when you go out. The best thing you can do is be an effective packer and anticipate mom and babies needs. Breast feeding supplies, diapers, extra clothes, etc. Even going out for 2 hrs. Have a bag ready. Etc.

Meal prep before your due date if you can. I had a bunch of frozen stuff prepped. You'll be zonked beyond belief.

Make sure your wife feels sexy and desirable throughout the pregnancy and afterwards. Her body changed a lot and she can begin to have a lot of negative thoughts. Plus sex is always good for everyone. 😃

Well brother, that should definitely get you started. I can't think of anything else at the moment but comment or PM me if you have any questions. It'll all be alright. You got this! 😃

u/vapingcarrie · 1 pointr/parentsofmultiples

I couldn't find anything that you were looking for, but there are plenty of tandem jogging strollers out there with side-by-side options available. They are a little harder to snap 2 carseats in that way.

If you open your options to having 2 wheels on the front, the Contours Options Elite Tandem Stroller has lots of positive reviews. I actually wanted this one, but we settled on an In-Step tandem jogging stroller for when I want one with actual wheels whenever we go to parks and stuff with different terrains. And an graco double stroller for when we are doing things like shopping with narrow aisles.

u/RoarEatSleep · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

Agreed you should probably move to an umbrella at this point.

I have a McClaren that I like, but I think in that price range they’re all pretty similar.

If you’re considering a second baby in the future you might also look at the Joovy Caboose.. I finally got one after being jealous of it for ages and I love it. I take just the baby (10 months) out in it all the time, but my older loves it too and it’s got a pretty decent basket when she’s not riding in it. Plus it’s super lightweight and easy to fold. Sort of like a much bigger umbrella stroller. I love it and I’m selling our UppaBaby because I can’t think when I’d ever want to use it again.

u/PermanentDaylight · 1 pointr/Parenting

The Joovy Big Caboose is a triple stroller. It’s a sit and stand, but you can also get a third seat if your kids aren’t old enough to use the bench seat yet. I think you can only use it with two infant car seats though, so at least one of your kids will need to sit on the stroller seat.

Also, your twins might not be in the infant car seats much longer. We have a Graco seat, not Chicco, but all of our kids have gotten too long for it well before they reached the weight limit, sometime within a couple of months after turning one year old.

Congratulations! And good luck

u/rosekayleigh · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

I love my Graco Relay Jogger. It's so smooth. It turns really well and the shock absorbers make it handle bumpy terrain nicely. The only problem is that it's not small.

u/chorizobisque · 1 pointr/running

We were in the same boat as you, couldn't justify $500 on the Bob Revolution. For whatever reason target had a random clearance on it last year and we bought it for about $250. So keep an eye out and you might get lucky, we did!

Otherwise we were looking at this Joovy.

We have the Joovy room 2, it randomly broke, we called Joovey and they sent a new one to our house in 2 days and they covered all associated expenses. So I trust their cust service.

u/wheresmybump · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

I'm on #2 this go around. i think you have a great list, if you are trying to pare it down, here is my two cents. I never used special laundry detergent for baby stuff. Some kiddos are more sensitive to it than others so you can wait and see if its necessary. Never used a special towel, just used ours. Rectal thermometer is recommended over forehead for infants I believe. I never used a lot of swaddle blankets but some people with babies who spit up allot swear by them.

I did/do use my stroller ALL the time. I find them super necessary. If I was having my first now (and could afford it) I would totally get this stroller. 13 lbs and so tiny!

u/grilledcheezntomato · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

We just bought the City Select last weekend! There's a manufacturer sale going on right now so Amazon, BuyBuyBaby, Babies'R'Us all have the single seat strollers on sale for 400.

Amazon is the best deal because they are selling the double stroller for $519 (as opposed to 400 +169 for the second seat kit). And you could use your 15% completion discount to bring the total down to $440!

u/Manodactyl · 1 pointr/Parenting

not cheap, but we use the city select by baby jogger. It's a dream to push, folds easily, and can be disassembled in 2 minutes if you are trying to fit is somewhere small.

Oh and the seats can be turned in any direction, so you can have your 2 kids face each other if you wanted.

u/legowife · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

Can anyone tell me how this compares to the BOB flex? That's the one I've had on my registry based on the Lucie's List recommendations/reviews, but this looks like a great deal! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019EZD7Y2/ref=br_it_dp_o_nS_ttl?ie=UTF8&colid=3C4K778D98X90&coliid=ILJ7WXE8H1CB4&vs=1

I have a britax bready that we purchased when my 19 month old was born because we knew we would have more than one child needing a stroller at a time. I love love love this stroller. I've only used it as a single, but the second seat only costs about $100 and any britax infant seat will clip right into the frame where the top seat goes. When baby outgrows the bucket seat you just pop the regular seat back on and you are good to go!

u/mechitgood · 1 pointr/JuneBumpers2017

If you're having a shower or want to get a nice double stroller I swear by my Britax b ready. I have this one. I'm pretty sure the only difference between that one and the 2017 model is that be 2017 one is a black frame and different look. The one I have is also a lot cheaper than the 2017 one.

It can be used as a single or double. It folds up nice and is def the Cadillac of strollers IMO. I've had other strollers in the past such as Chicco but the Britax is def here to stay.

I looked on Amazon for strollers under $200 with the best reveiws. The way I shop is by deciding on a price I'm comfortable with and then find the product under that price with the best reviews and so far it has worked out. For my first we bought this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0190QVZH6/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1485712412&sr=8-1&keywords=jogging+stroller

I love it! And for my second we bought a double stroller:

Haven't used it but we set it up and like the way it feels and it's a great price!
