Ehhh they cost $500. I'd call that pretty pricey compared to the Travel System I got by Graco, which includes a car seat and base, and stroller that the car seat clicks into as well as having a toddler seat. With the Yoyo I would still have to spend an additional $50 each on a stroller and car seat, probably more.

We did the second example I mentioned, and I kind of regret it. I feel like we spent much more money doing it this way, mainly because we have two cars (so we needed two bases, two convertible seats, etc.). But the benefit of doing it that way is being able to take baby in and out of the car in the seat, rather than risking waking them up by taking them out of the convertible seat. But, I have friends who did the convertible seat from birth and it worked out great for them, so I hope to do that when we have our second!
We found that for the first six months or so we didn't use a traditional stroller, we only used a Snap and Go. We could snap the car seats into the stroller directly, unsnap and snap into the car, pack the stroller easily into the back, and then when we arrived unsnap out of the car and into the stroller. Once they got a little older we moved over to a Baby Jogger and that was great. But in the beginning I'm surprised no one has mentioned this - it was the ONLY stroller we used for the first six months or so.

Firstly - this is my list of products that have gotten us through my son's first 2 years. Check the blurbs for raves on my favorites.
Pretty much everything else... like... you (or we) could have gotten by with cheaper versions of. I like the products we purchased, but I don't think they added more utility than their alternatives would have at a fraction of the cost.
I strongly, strongly advise against a convertible for a newborn.
You should really get an infant carseat then buy a convertible one once baby outgrows the infant one. The infant carseat is the one you can remove from the car to carry baby in, which is a HUGE bonus - you don't have to wake baby when you're out running errands, he can just stay sleeping while you carry him around. Having to take baby out of the seat and put him back in while running errands will piss him off and it's very annoying. Also, you'll have to find something to put him in while you're in the store, for example. It's also SO much easier to buckle him in the seat in the house then click it into the car.

I understand wanting to save money, but your life will be so so so much easier with an infant carseat. I'd find another item to save money on if money is an issue.
Also, convertible carseats don't have the neck support that infant ones do because they don't recline as much, so your newborn's head will flop forward, which is a safety issue on its own (positional asphyxiation).

We got a Chicco Keyfit30. Amazon doesn't seem to have the combination exactly of what we got available anymore, but these are different color versions of our choices:

The convertible seat we got is a Chicco NextFit Zip. I chose that one because it was consistently rated at the top of lists, and the cover zips out for cleaning. This is the exact car seat we have.
If you have a tiny car (prius, etc.) these seats might not work well for you. The convertible one does have a variety of recline positions to choose from so you can sit your kid a little more upright to make more room (if they're able to sit up, don't do this if your kid doesn't have good head/neck control) but it definitely isn't the most compact seat available. It is REALLY easy to install, though - we took kiddo with us while test driving cars since we have to replace our current vehicle in the next month or so. We popped the seat out of the truck, installed it easily in the vans we were driving, and were on our way. Took less than 5 minutes (it is rated as one of the easier seats to install on several of the comparison sites) from "I'll go get the seat" to putting the kid in it.
Edited to add: we moved kiddo to the convertible seat around 11 months, because he was constantly trying to sit up in his infant seat. He'd get really frustrated since it was such a recline. Car rides went from frustrated baby to happy kiddo as soon as we switched seats because he could look out of the window. Technically he's not too heavy for his infant seat even now (27.5 pounds at his 15 month appointment last month) but he is too tall for it (it goes up to 30 inches in height; he was 30.25" at his 15 month appointment.
You can have a sturdy stroller that also has a snap-in option for your car seat. Not sure what reviews you saw that said the strollers were collapsing on their own, but it might have more to do with the method by which they collapse than having a car seat attached. Just a guess.
You might want to consider a travel system. You can get the Chicco KeyFit with base and a stroller that will last through the toddler years for $310. Another option is to get the stroller you’ve already picked, and get a car seat caddy to use while your baby is still an infant. The Chicco caddy is $100.

We were fortunate enough to be gifted the Chicco Keyfit 30 system and the accompanying stroller frame. These things were THE BEST. The base installs in less than a minute and then you just plop the car seat in it and it clicks and secures into place. To get it out you just press in the little handle deal and it comes right out. Easy AF and such a time and back saver. Then if you get the stroller frame the seat will click into that the same way. It folds up with ease and has plenty of storage space. All the while not really having to disturb the little one. We used that shit ALL the time. Only downside is it's pretty expensive, but you're looking at a stroller, carseat and base that will last quite a while.
We got the stroller that the carseat can just snap into. Our 1MO only likes the stroller if you're willing to really zig-zag a lot and make it pretty bouncy. This one

I would absolutely not get a $900 stroller, unless you're very wealthy and just want it. But if that's the case, I'd probably rather have the overly expensive Snoo Smart Sleeper than an overly expensive stroller, since sleep is gonna be the thing you aren't getting enough of.

It is so so easy to push, folds up easily with one hand, and fits thru doorways! And a huge bonus, it's so much cheaper than most of them!
I looked at both in the store and decided on the Chicco because it was easier to install (it took all of 20 seconds) and because it fit better in my car's tiny back seat. It also just felt sturdier, although I don't know that that's necessarily true.
They're both heavy, so I would highly recommend a snap-on stroller base. I bought the Chicco brand one, but Baby Trend makes one that will work with the KeyFit too. Plus it's cheaper. If this is your first child I would not recommend getting a convertible car seat just yet. You're going to have a hard enough time maneuvering your newborn in to that carseat and getting him or her strapped in safely with it sitting on a flat surface in front of you. Now imagine trying to shove your little bundle of joy through the small space between the carseat and the back seat, get it all strapped in and comfy, buckled up without pinching anything, all while supporting its floppy little head. And you can forget about not waking him or her up! Oh, and did I mention you'll be leaning over and in to the car to do this? Yeah, not so good for your back either.

I think a large majority of people use an infant car seat for the first year or so that can be removed from the base so baby can easily be toted into appts and things.

I have that exact stroller and we used it when my baby was about 10 weeks old when we traveled to BC for 10 days. It actually works really well. It lays flat for when they sleep so that's nice. The only cons to it are 1: they can't see you and you can't see them so you're not sure what they're doing and if they're happy and 2: it's a lot easier with a big stroller to protect them from the sun. I used a muslin blanket and tied it to the stroller to use as a sun shield, and just kind of made sure that I was checking on him from time to time.

The user above had a great point about returns - definitely register where you can return easily. But also put out the word for Amazon gift cards - if you don't have Prime now, you may want to consider it, Subscribe & Save + Amazon mom is definitely the cheapest place to get brand name diapers. Target brand dipes are probably similarly priced though, if you can use them (for some reason, they gave my kids rashes, though I know SO many who loved them.)
I loved the double snap n' go stroller frame that carries two carseats, we probably used it for nearly a year - lighter and more compact that any other stroller you'll use. (LOL I see that they've improved it now to "stadium seating" - terming which I find hilarious, but looks like it makes it even more compact, which would have been awesome!)
Don't bother with bedding sets, that was probably my biggest regret (you shouldn't use the bumpers, you can't use the blanket for a year (and even then, baby won't stay under it, so it's pointless after that), so you're basically paying $100+ for a sheet, dust ruffle and MAYBE a single curtain (have two windows? You'll have to buy another.))
Check out your local Mothers of Twins Club. In my area, they have resales a few times a year where members can sell their used baby stuff, we got SO much from them. Good things to look for are things like swings, bouncys (I got mine for $3!), exersaucers, the playmat gym things... (And in later years, toys (this is a few years off, but look for tricycles!!) and books. I never had a lot of luck with clothes, it seems that all the early goers get the best stuff) Chances are, the next sale is coming up VERY soon (the two in my area are this coming weekend!) (oh, and looking at other responses - check for nursing pillows, boppys, and bottles too!)
I was in the same boat. I registered for a BOB Revolution and one of the infant carseat adapter stroller/frames for the first 6 months. To be honest, I just don't feel like hauling the BOB everywhere from the get go. I intend on having the BOB be used for most outings later on and getting a cheap umbrella stroller some point down the road.
I'm on #2 this go around. i think you have a great list, if you are trying to pare it down, here is my two cents. I never used special laundry detergent for baby stuff. Some kiddos are more sensitive to it than others so you can wait and see if its necessary. Never used a special towel, just used ours. Rectal thermometer is recommended over forehead for infants I believe. I never used a lot of swaddle blankets but some people with babies who spit up allot swear by them.
I did/do use my stroller ALL the time. I find them super necessary. If I was having my first now (and could afford it) I would totally get this stroller. 13 lbs and so tiny!
If you're having a shower or want to get a nice double stroller I swear by my Britax b ready. I have this one. I'm pretty sure the only difference between that one and the 2017 model is that be 2017 one is a black frame and different look. The one I have is also a lot cheaper than the 2017 one.
It can be used as a single or double. It folds up nice and is def the Cadillac of strollers IMO. I've had other strollers in the past such as Chicco but the Britax is def here to stay.

A neat option you can try is a joey attachment for a side by side double stroller. This is like a higher seat that clips in centered over the double.

I have a britax bready that we purchased when my 19 month old was born because we knew we would have more than one child needing a stroller at a time. I love love love this stroller. I've only used it as a single, but the second seat only costs about $100 and any britax infant seat will clip right into the frame where the top seat goes. When baby outgrows the bucket seat you just pop the regular seat back on and you are good to go!
No I extensively researched every double stroller on the market and it fits through small doors, even in a tiny doctors office where nobody thought it wod make it through the door. We've had no issues. Only cons would be no snack tray, and the footrest is a little weird for the 2 year old but I just put it up and he puts his feet up on it and doesnt seem to mind. Pros, fits through doors, keeps them contained, fits in our small Pontiac vibe, and we can even still fit our groceries in around it which is awesome. It folds and unfolds really simply and has a carrying strap. It's actually easier to open that our single stroller we had before! Overall we've it since the beginning of october and I would 100% buy it again. It's very sturdy, was easy to assemble, and has been used on a regular basis since then. To provide a different perspective, we used the double snap-n-go for the first 9m to a year. It snaps in the cars seats and you are off. It's relatively cheap for the amount of use you will get. After that you can consider what you will want. Your older child will be almost 4 by the end of the twin's first year and may not need the standing space....

My problem with those long ones are that they're boats, and no matter how well they're made, they will not collapse to fit into the back of a normal car because the bars are just too long. :/
This is what I was referring to (the link is just the joey seat, but it shows the whole deal). I believe you can also use a conversion kit to put a baby carrier in the joey seat, so it will work for infants as well as toddlers.
With my son, we've got (or were given) three strollers. I think we've used one maybe a half dozen times in his life. We live in suburbia, if we take him somewhere, now he sits in the cart at the store, and he's too little to want to go 'visiting' anywhere we'd need a stroller. With three, that changes, we won't be able to go anywhere without a stroller. Time will tell!
Regarding car seats/strollers... We have the Chicco KeyFit 30 car seats with the Baby Trend Universal Double Snap-N-Go Stroller. After using them for a little over a month, I would highly recommend both. The car seats are easy to use, provide good head support, can carry newborns as small as 4 pounds (which may be necessary when you're having twins!), aren't super expensive, and they're nice looking car seats that are built well in my opinion. And, while the stroller isn't a long-term option, it's so convenient - we use it almost every day on walks with our dog and haven't ever had a problem.
Unfortunately, there aren't very many double stroller options that will fit two car seats, so the snap-and-go seemed like the best option to start with. We're going to see how often we use the stroller versus baby carriers and, when the girls are big enough, we'll decide what long-term double stroller would fit our needs (i.e. one that doesn't fit two car seats).
We quickly found that having small, lightweight strollers was the way to go. We originally bought the Chicco car seat, the snap-in base, and the matching stroller. The only problem was the stroller was giant and heavy, and just a hassle to use.
Luckily we found out they also sold a car seat frame/stroller only, and they also sold a Lite-a-way "Plus" (not the other one, you cannot snap the car seat into it) stroller that also snaps the car seat in. We love them. We use the frame one almost exclusively! It folds up very small, it's super light and easy to handle, and my wife can throw the baby bag and her purse in the bottom.

Get the keyfit stroller frame, not the travel system with the big stroller. SO much lighter, better basket space and accessibility, cheaper, and once they're out of the car seat you can just get a cheaper umbrella stroller cause they'll be old enough. We love our chicco and their customer service is awesome. Also if kid is asleep it's so much better to be able to move their seat instead of pulling them out and waking them up.

The Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System is a great budget friendly, but still has all the extra features of a higher end system.
I have the Chicco Urban 6-in-1 Modular Stroller and Chicco Fit2 Infant & Toddler Car Seat it doesn’t come as a set, but the two are compatible to form a travel system type set up with just what comes out the box (no additional attachments to buy). It’s a bit more expensive than the evenflo, but I liked the way it maneuvered and such better than the evenflo when I was testing them out in the store. Plus the KeyFit2 is one of the best car seats on the market (and can be used with premies).
My biggest recommendation is go to the store and physically touch, maneuver, fold, unfold, and attach and detach the car seat for whatever system you are considering. A lot can be learned from reading online reviews and asking for anecdotal reviews, but nothing beats having your hands on a demo model and trying it for yourself.
I plan on getting the same exact car seat (better sooner than later at this point)! I however decided against the Travel System. I love the car seat, has great reviews, great safety ratings, and the price is under $200, which is great for my father who is buying it for me. I read mixed reviews on the stroller, and as a FTM I figure I may want a different stroller all together by the time he's big enough to ditch the car-seat as part of the stroller. So for strollers we went around in circles trying to find the perfect one that would fit two car seats and still be a great stroller down the road. I don't think this exists for twins. We ended up doing a cheap snap-and-go frame stroller for the first 6 months (this one) and then got the Bob duallie stroller for when they're older. I love the frame stroller because it's so light I can pop it out of the car myself and it's so cheap I don't worry about it getting beat up. A lot of the great side by side strollers can't adapt to hold two infant seats for early on. If the baby falls asleep in the car, it's really really nice to be able to leave them in the carseat and just clip the car seat into a lightweight, super-easy to fold frame. I found it was particularly awesome for grocery shopping; i could do the shopping in ten min while the baby slept, and just put the groceries under the stroller until I got to the checkout line. I'm already watching for one to come up on craigslist!
edit to add: I think the frame-style stroller lasted us most of the first year, so it definitely would hold off the larger purchase and give you time to evaluate options. I did mostly baby-wearing too, but sometimes it was a relief to only carry my own body weight ;)
I have the dream system! I have the 2016 model of The britax b ready. It's a single stroller but you buy an infant adapter for the bottom. Like these. I've seen fancy airport specific strollers and whatnot, but like... Unless you fly every month and have triplets, I just wouldn't want to spend the money or something I will use maybe twice.
