So... they're no longer allowed to sell you shower heads that put out more than 2.5 GPM at 80psi. Combination shower heads now must limit how many nozzles are working at once to avoid exceeding this limit.

But you're free to buy... two shower heads. Or four. Or eleventy-one. You just need to set up the plumbing for them. You're also free to, per Internet commentary, 'drill out the nozzle apertures'. Beyond that, it's just a matter of plumbing it together and having the ability to supply that much hot water. That means large-diameter pipes & valves, and as far as supply, you could either rig up a very large insulated storage tank, or use something like a sizable condensing-boiler furnace with a heat exchanger to function as an on-demand water heater. 2.5GPM eats up about 22KW or 75,000BTU/H. If you're using 25 showerheads, you're going to need something like this - https://www.acwholesalers.com/Weil-McLain-383600017/p49931.html , and I don't even know what you'd use for a purely electric on-demand system. A commercial three-phase 480V electric service, to start with.

You don't even need a fancy computer control thing for most of what you want (everything but the beeping). Thermostatic mixing valves are mechanical valves that automatically shift to maintain a stable temperature. You set a temperature on the dial, and it adjusts the hot/cold valves as needed to achieve that temperature. So, if your incoming water changes temperature over time, it'll adjust for more/less hot water incoming to keep the output (reasonably) steady at the requested temperature.

For some reason, they're not common in the US, but they are in much of the rest of the world.

The left side controls the pressure, and the right side sets the desired temperature. The red button on the right is a safety thing where it won't allow you to twist all the way to the dangerously hot temperatures unless you hold that in while twisting.

Agree with this. Delta in particular makes good products at better prices than moen. Similar to what the OP wants Delta Faucet T14259-BL Trinsic Monitor 14 Series Shower Trim, Matte Black, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHHR98K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_x0hwDb2YT9A05

yeah, but unless its a new build you would need to take apart your shower tiles

Edit: its $345

> Can we get a tldr for each question and the specs or a couple bullets w/o commentary?

Sure:

  1. Is there any reason to pay 70 extra dollars for this:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KL6UN5K
rather than buying the trim and roughin valve (on the same page) separately?

  2. Is it practical to have 3/4 inch pex lines going to each end of a shower enclosure, and then splitting them into two half inch lines, one for an overhead shower and one for a body jet loop at each end?

And thanks for the advice about the plumber. I intended to talk to him beforehand anyway, but you make an excellent point about making sure he has everything he needs, and is happy with the parts, before he starts.

In fact, forget the plumber, I may not even get this past my builder. That's why I posted here, in case it was too stupid to even ask him about it. But a guy above said he had built systems similar to this, so I'm encouraged.

I just bought a bunch of shower equipment on amazon.

I keep a eye on warehouse deals and buy stuff that is like new.

Search Hansgrohe, kohler, symmons, and other high end fixtures.

Got this for

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWHNCNS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

$170 Mostly metal construction. Except for the shower handle echelons. Most all shower wands are plastic now so if you drop it won't break the tile.

Got this one

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TAO6VS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

for 200

This one is nice and heavy. Good construction

Neither of these come with the rought valves or diverter.

Got this one for

$180

This one is a piece of art solid and came with the rough in valve.

I don’t know where you are but have you looked up Belanger three handle tub shower chrome trim?

I can basically only find the valve kits that come with the trim.

Family member called plumber and he couldn't remove the valve - told me to remove the tile and contact him next week. Removing the cover did little to expose the pipes connected to the diverter. Basically, I'm going to be replacing the valve and handle completely; disconnecting the three pipes (2 in, 1 out) and connecting them to the new item.

Can you see if that includes everything? I need both the cover/handle AND behind-the-wall body/inlets.
