I've heard good things about buckwheat pillows, but I have no experience with them myself and I certainly have no idea if they'd last a lifetime.
Have you ever used a buckwheat pillow? They are slightly firmer than normal (I like that, but you might not.), and they stay nice and cool.
One thing I have learned over the years is that while quality can be expensive, it doesn't have to be. Also, what one person loves and thinks is the "softest set of sheets ever!!!!" can feel like sandpaper to another person. (OK that's two things. Oh well.)
I have major sleep and texture issues, so I have spent a lot of years perfecting my bedding. After much searching and much cost, I ended up finding out that the Target UltraSoft sheets are my second favorite ever (to some discontinued Lands' End knit, their current knit is not the same.) I love that these sheets come in individuals, so you can buy just the ones you need. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I just got a new pillowcase from Sheex at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and it is amazing. Someday I will get their Bamboo Sheet Set as my summer/alternate sheets.
For blankets, I'm a big fan of the warm fuzzy ones. Target again has some from a couple of their brands (Threshold and Shabby Chic) but I find they're not quite as good quality as they used to be. I have recently acquired a new SherpaSoft blanket from Bed, Bath, and Beyond which is amazing. It is thick, soft, and warm and happened to be on clearance plus I was able to use one of their coupons for it.
I absolutely love a down comforter, but I'm allergic to actual down. I stumbled across the Pinzon Down Alternative comforter at Amazon, I have had mine for nearly 5 years and it is still in excellent condition. Duvet cover is super personal depending on style, but if you have a thing for flannel, I highly recommend the Pinzon flannel duvet cover as well. Another thing I've had for years and love, the Pinzon 190-gram is my favorite flannel, even above LL Bean and Lands' End.
Due to some surprise issues (hello, holes in my former (not the Target) favorite sheets!) I also ended up going on a spree and replacing some bedding basics last weekend. I have a memory foam topper on my mattress, which means I needed a cotton mattress pad/cover otherwise my topper turned into a heat-generating slab of concrete. I tried something from a local store that didn't work, ended up back at Amazon for the Zen Bamboo Ultra Soft Mattress Topper. Slept on it last night and it was fabulous.
And finally, after a couple of failures, I stumbled across this adjustable! pillow from Coop Home Goods on Amazon, which is absolutely amazing. I like a soft pillow but need neck support, but most pillows are too thick for me. I love that you can simply zip the pillow open and remove a bit of the fill, or add more if you like a firmer pillow (they sell additional fill linked from the pillow page.)
Congratulations on your new house, and good luck with your bedding shopping! A well-attired bed makes the whole experience so much nicer.
Too bad they aren't really cracking down. lol. They need to remove all these shit sellers that have fake reviews.
fake 1
fake 2
These companies have more than 10,000 fake reviews going back months. Don't see Amazon cracking down here. Amazon is such a shitshow mess sometimes.
Maybe you should order a pillow or packing material with it and make sure its shipped together. 😮
These are the ones I have, love em. http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B002AS9OUM?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
This is the pillow I bought and it’s amazing:
Coop Home Goods - Eden Shredded... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LZHMODV?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It’s shredded memory foam and it’s a pretty cool pillow to lay on (literally). They give you instructions for how much fluff to have in your pillow for each type of sleeper (and it comes with A LOT of extra fluff). I paired it with a cheap $15 silk pillow case and it’s perfect for winter or summer. Hope that helps (also if you do get it, the memory foamie smell it comes with goes away after a few days unless you put it in the dryer to get rid of it.
I've been using one of these for about 5 years now.
https://www.amazon.com/Beans72-Organic-Buckwheat-Pillow-Standard/dp/B0006HU7VO/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1509724712&sr=8-3&keywords=beans72+buckwheat+pillows
Case is washable, and just change\replace filling as needed. Infinitely adjustable, stays cool, and very supportive. I can't go back to regular pillow now.
mypillows are actually good but you have to get right firmness
this are also good

These! Comes with 2 pillows!
My new pillow. It has the Good Housekeeping Seal and a warranty.
We use these WonderSleep Pillows . Very comfortable, decent price, last a long time.
What's your price range? Also are you in the US or another country? I can put together something more detailed if you give me that. Going to assume this is a college dorm if it isn't let me know. Side note: my partner says your room looks just fine for a college room but she thinks I'm a bit too into design stuff anyways.
Won't make your room look nicer but if your college will let you replace the mattress do that first, if not throw a mattress pad on top. Sleep is so undervalued in college, both you and any visitors will appreciate it. Here is a mattress pad for ~70 and here is one for under $20.
Along the same line get some nice pillows. Here is a decent set of 2 for ~$20.
Can't see your sheets but if you only have one set, please please get at least more than one set and wash them weekly! Amazon basics get the job done and are dirt cheap for sheets Here is a twin xl in spa blue for $13.99.
Before you buy anything else, you can also go a long way by just organizing all the stuff on the top of the dresser and the bookshelf. Try to have a home for everything and anything you don't use regularly should be out of sight.
Ok that out of the way, we can now go into fixing some of the design/color issues. The dark blue comforter and the black clash too much with the white walls (black wall hangings rarely work btw). Also, none of the wood finish matches and there is barely any color in the room.
Here's how to fix those in order of importance
Step 1: Ditch the giant yin-yang tapestry, unless it means something to you. Same with the meme poster. Also, you don't need three whiteboards...Replace all that with some wall art. Erstwhile is my personal favorite for wall art, really any of there pieces will do. They are a bit pricey ($200-$400) for a college student though. I'd look through Etsy under wall art to find something you like at a decent price point. Or try society6.com like the other poster said. As a note get framed pieces or something that doesn't need to be framed if you can.
Step 2: Get rid of the Black curtain and replace with a lighter color or even something with a pattern. Match it to whichever wall art you chose above.
Step 3: Get a plant, assuming your college allows it. Arichea Palms, Boston Ferns, and Ficus are all super easy to take care of and don't need a ton of light.
Step 4: Replace your comforter and throw pillows and match to the wall art/curtain.
Step 5: This is a personal pet peeve but match the wood finishes unless you know how to make them play off of each other. I'd watch craigslist and slowly replace the furniture as cool things pop up. The desk would be the first thing I'd try to replace, it is way too small to be a decent workspace. There are tons of sub $100 dollar computer desks on Amazon. Also, check out IKEA if you have one near you.
If you need advice on color matching or anything else please let me know.
Did you try an ergonomic memory foam pillow like this: https://www.amazon.ca/Cr-Ventilated-Contour-Technology-Standard/dp/B01J0Q6LIO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1509725125&sr=8-6&keywords=memory+foam+pillows
For some reason, my pillow must be memory foam, and it has to be this specific shape. Any other material or shape and I'm fucked. The pillow has sort of rounded edges, the thicker end goes under your neck, providing support. I think it's possible I have cervicogenic migraines; you might want to research that, there are simply physio exercises that can help in stabilizing the neck.
My grandmother has them and isn't impressed. I bought this one Amazon and I love it. They have great customer service and work with you to customize it the best way for you.

I need pillows for better sleep. Mine are lumpy and have holes in them. My doctor told me I'm not allowed to nap anymore and it has been a real struggle. I could really use something to help me sleep better at night.
Thanks for the thoughtful and wonderful contest. <3
You can get a Chillow.
It would be really lovely to have a new set of pillows, the ones we have are so sad and old, haha. Best of luck in your training!
Bonus
Sandra Bullock
Super fun contest!! :))
I love my Latex foam pillow. NOT memory foam. Springy, good for side or back sleeping and sells for about 50 bucks like this one here.
Ha! I am doing this now, been moving the unavailable things I hope will come back to the bottom at least lol. It's amazing how much the price can change when you don't pay attention lol...
I'd really like one of these, my pillow is literally disintegrating lol
How's it going /u/archeia ?
I went with these & they're fabulous. I'm not a fan of memory foam (too firm), otherwise I would have gotten this one (my husband has it & loves it).
This is the pillow God would sleep on.
Goose feather
I recently bought a couple of these Coop pillows for my wife and I and OMG they are amazing. I've struggled for literally decades trying to figure out what combination of firmness, thickness, number of pillows, materials, etc.. works for me and have never found it. I've had neck and back pain for years.
While it might be a little early (I've had the pillows for about a month) to tell if the pillow has had a huge effect on back and neck pain, I will say that I happened to have a particularly bad bout with both going when I got the pillow and right now I have neither. I've found that I wake up waaaaaay fewer times throughout the night and my wife and I both snore less.
The pillow is amazingly comfortable. You can add and subtract foam (it comes with an extra sleeve of foam equivalent to about 1/4 of what's already in the pillow) to get the perfect thickness. It holds its shape all night and stays cool - I think I've flipped my pillow over maybe twice since I got it. Prior to getting this pillow I'd do it at least ten times in the night. The outer cover is removable and washable so if you drool all over it it doesn't eventually end up looking like an old pirate's treasure map. I can't say enough good things about this pillow.

Just a heads up, I love it, but my girlfriend hates it.
Nah, I use one of these. http://www.amazon.com/CHILLOW-Pillow-Cooling-Pad-21/dp/B00GRT48HO
What an amazing first contest! You ROCK!! 1.21 Gigawatts would be nothing compared to my smile if I got these pillows! $37.49 and prime. My bed is in horrible shape and that's next on my projects to slowly clean up.
My weekend - my husband is a paramedic who works in a cath lab and this is his call weekend, so that means no alcohol or going anywhere (he has to be ready to walk out the door literally within 30 seconds) - so we are going to play on the Xbox like there is no tomorrow!! How about you?
7.You're so strong, hercules be jealous. and so much grace you could star in a show with will ... cough cough will & grace joke, i know it's terrible.

[ IDK how to make the link into a word, somebody help me X( ]
We had a similar situation: We ordered a cooling-gel memory foam pillow from Amazon through a third-party vendor. We received the pillow, and it clearly was not the same one we ordered. After some research, we found that the pillow they'd shipped was a rebranded $10-20 Sealy pillow, vs the $60 one we'd ordered.
We posted a negative review, and the company contacted us VIA PHONE, saying that they'd send us the right pillow if we'd just take the review down. I asked them to give me a day to think it over; in the meantime, they TOOK DOWN THE REVIEW THEMSELVES! We contacted Amazon customer support, and they were astonished, saying for one, they third party vendor shouldn't have been able to contact us via phone, and secondly, they shouldn't be able to edit their reviews. They claimed they'd look into it. We ended up just returning the pillow to get our money back.
The vendor is still selling on Amazon, so I guess they didn't do anything...
Here's the item we "bought", along with the vendor still selling: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K4LTNIA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought this thing.

I love it, I've had a mypillow before and I really don't recommend washing it like they advertise.
The link above gives you so much foam, that you can make a small pillow from the foam you have to remove to get to my preferred fill.
I got one kind of like this from a pillow swap with the in-laws:
https://www.amazon.ca/Classic-Brands-Caress-Ventilated-Pillow/dp/B007SWMO3O/
It's non-memory foam, and very comfortable. Had been searching for a decent pillow for ages!
Hi! It’ll get better once you get on a medication that works for you i promise. The same thing happened to me and I’m 21. I lost 10 pounds, couldn’t eat or sleep and I was having intense chest pain.
To help with sleep I would highly recommend an elevated pillow. I got this one on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01FINTS4M?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
As for eating, I found that cold stuff helped me so I’d drink smoothies frequently. It’s different for everyone but definitely stay away from highly acidic foods.
The medicine I’m on is Omeprazole. I started on 80mg per day (40mg in morning and then at night). After 3 days I felt some relief and was able to eat again. It only improved from there!! I also drink probiotics every morning and I feel like they’ve made a difference.
I hope this helps! If you have more questions then feel free to send me a message!
Here's what my girlfriend and I have.
I have a Panda Life Bamboo Memory Foam pillow I bought at Costco (roadshow, not constantly stocked) and I absolutely love it. It's a very fluffy pillow and holds it's shape well. I previously slept on a tempurpedic Memory Foam pillow but that one flattened out over the years and needed to be replaced. The Panda Life Pillow can be put in the drier on a very low setting for 30 minutes to an hour to refluff the pillow.
