"Microwave safe plastic bowl", part of a set

u/Archaris · 19 pointsr/funny

check if the cat's whiskers are hitting the bowl or not. whisker-sensitivity ranges from cat to cat, but banging them on the bowl ends up painful to the cat sooner or later.

try something with a wide rim so the cat can keep his habit of 'pawing' out the food (slows down his eating speed, which helps prevent overeating!) example: deep well wide rim bowl. (amazon link provided because it's less likely to get reddit hugged to death)

I think you'll get a lot of waste from an eyedropper. When I made my lip tar lipsticks, I mixed lip tar and a tube of Burt's Bees in a microwavable pinch bowl (which I already had in my kitchen because they're so damn useful!), nuked it for a few seconds, mixed with a chopstick and then poured directly back into the Burt's Bees tube. The pinchiness of the bowl made pouring easy with almost no waste (I scraped up a little with the chopstick).

Generally what they do is they have these small glass prep bowls that they pre-measure the ingredients in to for making these videos so they can just slap shit together quickly and still have it look good.

Thank you!! I got it on Amazon

They're a little kitschy, but my sister got me these and I think they're just delightful. The proofs are compact but correct!

For Eldritch Horror, it's been a great pleasure to swap the sanity/stamina counters for red and blue d8s. It was also great to upgrade the d6s to 16mm dice - they roll better and feel heftier than the 12mms the game came with.

I also like these pinch bowls for miscellaneous components: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00080FPZM

Also: foam core inserts are great for making the experience better organized and help make the set up faster!

I have those and got them from Costco! Here is an Amazon link but I think they were like $25ish when I bought them at Costco

Because it somewhat fits the topic and I'm thinking about buying one: are silicone baking mats useful? Are there differences or will any one do?

Most usefull baking tools for me are a good scale and I really love glas bowls like these.

There are these awesome little things that fold up into a bowl and can compact to a wallet size and can also be a plate! I’m not sure what they’re called, but let me poke around and see if I can find a link for you!

Edit: here’s the link! foldable bowl
If you unfold them they become a plate!

Found these on Amazon using 'wide soup bowl' as the search terms. 'Wide entree bowl' also returns a bunch of similar items, including larger ones: https://smile.amazon.com/YHY-4-inch-Porcelain-Pasta-Bowls/dp/B01L8I2RZ8

The problem with metal plates is that they act as a heat sink and will make your food cold very quickly. I do a lot of camping and have experienced the many negatives of metal cups and plates many times. However, they now make vacuum plates and bowls (think thermos or coffee travel mug) that keeps your food warmer than a normal plate, and also won't burn you if you touch it.

I bought some at the local asian market and they're amazing! I'm not sure if you'll be able to find them locally, but amazon sells them, too. These are bowls, but I bought "plates" that are pretty much shallow bowls.

In terms of making a good salad, check out this NYTimes article (https://cooking.nytimes.com/guides/43-how-to-make-salad). It gives you all the components you need to make a good one! You should have different flavors, textures and ingredients to spice it up and take it from sad leafs to full blown meal.

In terms of making it cheap - buy everything in bulk, especially dry goods. Also, make your own dressing because it’s super cheap and much tastier/healthier.

Enjoy your salad making.

PS: suggest investing in a nice bowl to eat it out of. Salad is easier to prep and enjoy in a bowl like this (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HK5SYK2/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_i_4W-KDb3VBC953)

Edit: spelling

I think these were the kind we had, or at least it's very similar to it. Just search for "straw bowls" if you want more.

here is an item but to be honest I don't mind if you pick anything from my wish list :-D

A bit between soup and cauliflower and cheese:

  • Fill my 24 oz microwave bowl (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YN239A) with a bunch of cauliflower florets and a few diced onions
  • Cover with butter and spices (I use smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, pepper)
  • Into the microwave for 6 minutes (the bowl is now only about 50-60% full)
  • Add some bacon bits and several slices of cheese and cover
  • Chop up a sausage and microwave it
  • Dump sausage in bowl and stir everything up
  • Back in microwave for a minute
  • Add enough milk or cream to fill bowl, stirring the whole time. No need to reheat.

It's almost like a gooey mac & cheese.

EDIT: ARRRGGH The cost is correct!

I ordered these small bowls and I think they work really well. I just throw them in my game bag in case we need them.

u/glitter_bitch · 2 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

here's what i do... i find a dish that's low enough and wide enough for me to fill mostly with glitter w/o overflowing when i stick my finger in it. for reference, i usually use these little silicone mise en place dishes i got for christmas. :)

then i dip my basecoated fingernail in glitter and instantly brush off any that's on my skin back into the dish; after waiting a few minutes for the polish to set w/ the glitter, i brush the excess from the nail back into the dish, too. a few gentle pats with the flat of my brush nixes standing pieces and also helps settle the glitter firmly. after it's dried really well, i brush it again more vigorously -- i HATE when i get glitter in my topcoat lol -- to make sure every loose piece is off. then i put a thick layer of glitter food followed by a thick layer of topcoat.

u/torankusu · 2 pointsr/Bento

For my first bento, I made a sandwich, haha. I also filled in the gaps with baby carrots, saltine crackers, and a little bit of cream cheese to eat with the crackers.

I don't know if it's a concern to you, but rather than using disposable cupcake liners, you could go green (and save money) with silicone containers. :) I used these for my cream cheese and other little side dishes, but I also use silicone cupcake liners, which come in different shapes and colors (you could get the round ones, but there are ones of other shapes, like squares and hearts).

Your little fruit cup looks appetizing. :)

u/Matronix · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Here is something from my wish list. I just want to be able to seperate all of my small ingredients into these pinch bowls so that when I can cooking I can be, How easy was that?!

u/langyx · 1 pointr/Target

The microwaves will not penetrate the metal; they can, however, induce an electric current in the bowl which is likely to have no consequence unless the metal has jagged edges or points. Then "arcing" can occur and sparks will fly ( https://www.mcgill.ca/oss/article/you-asked/can-you-heat-food-metal-container-microwave-oven )
However the correct answer is MIcrowonder, Which is a microwaveable stainless steel bowl.

I love the silicone ones. I have a set: https://www.amazon.com/Norpro-Silicone-Mini-Pinch-Bowls/dp/B00080FPZM/ref=sr_1_8?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1549316963&sr=1-8&keywords=pinch+bowl

I also have a set of glass dishes like these: https://www.amazon.com/Maredash-Kitchen-Stackable-Dishware-Combination/dp/B07DVHDBMX/ref=sr_1_25?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1549316963&sr=1-25&keywords=pinch+bowl

And some crockery ones like these that are really nice and opaque (when that is important): https://www.amazon.com/Now-Designs-Terracotta-Pinch-Bowls/dp/B06XS1B6SS/ref=sr_1_5?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1549316963&sr=1-5&keywords=pinch+bowl

You can also do those in plastic: https://www.amazon.com/Oggi-Melamine-6-Piece-Assorted-Colors/dp/B001U24ESQ/ref=sr_1_7?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1549316963&sr=1-7&keywords=pinch+bowl

I'd recommend the silicone ones, but only if you can get big enough ones. Otherwise it can get frustrating not having enough. I think for the bang for the buck, the glass ones above are the best balance of cost, size, ease of use (and non-game utility), cleanup (if needed), and stackability. :) If silicone were cheaper and larger, they'd be my fave.

Here is one more thing that can help clean up and setup. Silicone condiment cups. These are great for keeping things tidy during a game. When finished with game just pick up the cup and pour into the ziplock bag.

I put my SSS in these little rubber bowls then just put my whole ear in it. I got mine at Publix but you can probably find them anywhere. They do a better job at suctioning to my ear than dixie cups!

u/maxd · 1 pointr/boardgames

Yeah I actually like the green one!

NINJA EDIT: Actually I am gonna buy bought these because Amazon. :)

u/theamazingkaley · 1 pointr/loseit

I highly recommend these pinch prep bowls
https://www.amazon.com/Greenbrier-Mini-Pinch-Prep-Bowls/dp/B00M6GBK0K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1495026085&sr=8-2&keywords=pinch+prep+bowls

They hold around 1/2 cup, are great for cooking prep, and make food servings appear much bigger.

The best way to use Hornady One Shot, assuming that's what you're using, is as follows:

  • Put a bunch of cases in a large plastic mixing bowl, but not so many they're stacking on top of each other.

  • Spray lightly across the assembled cases, as though you're applying sunscreen to someone's back. Not so thin that you miss spots, but not so thick that you're greasing them like a pig.

  • Put a lid on that mixing bowl and then move it like you'd move your hips with a hula hoop so that the cases all roll around the edge of the bowl together.

This makes sure that the cases are evenly coated and there are no spots that are missed when you spray the cases, because you're rolling them around together to spread it out nicely. I had issues with stuck cases using one shot when I tried rolling them on a damp paper towel or when I tried to just rub it on them by hand. I've never had a stuck case since I started rolling them all over in my mixing bowl since they get case lube everywhere that way.

Something like the largest bowl from this set is a good approximation of what I use. It lets me lube about 40 cases at a time without overlapping them, and the whole process of lubing the 40 cases takes under a minute (dump them in, spray, roll them around the edge, dump them out).
