Lillebaby carriers are up to 55% off on Amazon right now! I snagged the Lillebaby complete all seasons for $76 (normally $140)!

u/mrsvinchenzo1300 · 4 pointsr/BabyBumps

I love my Britax.

At the zoo I notice this one the most. I'm debating on trying it out because it has a hood, storage and better looking neck support method.

u/cornfrontation · 4 pointsr/self

Do not get a Bjorn. They aren't comfortable. Get something like this which has much better support.

u/akmco14 · 4 pointsr/babywearing

Like a hiking backpack. That's our plan when baby is a toddler and walking but still not big enough to do long walks/hikes/shopping trips. Distributes the extra weight of a bigger kid much more comfortably.

Example: Clevr Deluxe Baby Backpack Hiking Toddler Child Carrier Lightweight with Stand & Sun Shade Visor https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00LH7MEMM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EEvkDbBHA3TZJ

I've seen friends with the jacket extender, there are also baby-wearing specific jackets. We used layers on us both. I would put my kid in his snowsuit/bunting (with legs) and layers underneath and then cover it with this cover. I wore my jacket zipped up and put the carrier on over that. It's not my favorite way though and I think having a big jacket to go around us both would probably be more comfy.

my husband evens wears the Ergo performance, I NEVER thoguht that would happen! Wow it's even 30 dollars cheaper than when I bought it a year ago! http://www.amazon.com/ERGO-Baby-Carrier-Performance-Grey/dp/B003VTM6IG/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1348343521&sr=1-1&keywords=ergo+performance+carrier

Warning - lots of text below! My baby is about 6 weeks now and I'm exclusively breastfeeding. My Medela Harmony manual pump has been fine for building a stash - I pump 1-2 times a day for the freezer and occasional bottle feedings from Dad. I think it's pretty convenient, but I'll be using a double electric pump when I go back to work (waiting to see what Tricare will cover in 2015!).

Whatever you decide to use for diapering, I'd strongly recommend getting some prefolds (I got Osocozy unbleached). They're great for burp cloths, catching milk from your other boob during letdown, etc and they're also way cheaper and more absorbent than fancy burp cloths. Personally I love prefolds and covers for diapering, but don't buy too much into any one system or brand until you know what works for you. My husband hates prefolds so now I'm having to add pockets and AIOs to appease him.

I'd get some swaddlers (at least 2; my favorite is from Nuroo but that was a gift and they're pricey, the summer infant SwaddleMe wraps are good now that she's bigger but didn't fit well until about 10 lbs). My girl lives in footed pajamas and I love the Gerber zipped ones, we found tons at goodwill for $1.50 each but if you can't find them used, they're on Amazon for $10 for a 2 pack. You're right that other people will buy clothes, but they'll pick cutesy stuff and you need some practical choices too.

Nursing pillow - I had an unexpected C section and this has been so necessary. I love the Luna Lullaby since it's big and I had a big baby.

Some kind of baby carrier, I got a Moby wrap while she's small and it's amazing for running errands (I put it on before getting in the car and pop her in before going in the store, WAY easier than a carseat and stroller).

We were gifted a used swing and it is a freaking godsend. It's the only way I get chores done since I can pop her in there and cook, do laundry, clean, etc without her crying. YMMV, some babies hate them, but buy used and you won't be out too much cash.

Wubbanub pacifier is easy to keep track of and super cute.

Pack n Play with a mattress for cosleeping (recommended to reduce SIDS risk for the first 6 months). At least 2 mini crib sheets.

Earth Mama Angel Baby nipple butter is amazing for the first couple weeks.

QuickZip crib sheets will be amazing once you use the crib.

Simba baby safety nail cutter - no bleeding!

Finally, the Itzbeen pocket nanny timer is so helpful for keeping track of feedings and diaper changes, especially in the first few weeks.

Hope this wasn't too overwhelming. Good luck!

We got a 600 dollar crib (it was a gift from my grandmother) that looks nice and converts into a twin bed,

An even more expensive matching dresser (A gift from my FIL)

A MamaRoo (A gift from my mother),

A LilleBaby All Seasons (A gift from my brother.)

I haven't had a chance to use any of them (except the dresser) because the larva is still tucked away in her womb apartment.

Which one is the airflow? I've been looking at getting the Lillebaby Airflow, but all the different options on Amazon are confusing.

I was of the understanding that the Complete All Season and Airflow are two different things, and the only one I can find under prime deals is this one:

What do you think about this one??

It's just an off brand wrap but I don't want to get an expensive one and not like it..

Hi mama!

You may have seen my post asking for advice/experiences regarding this. My LO was born 12/17 via c-section because he was footling breech. The hospital pediatrician detected a “clunk” in his left hip , which was confirmed by the orthopedist on 12/19. The orthopedist talked about the plan that day and told us about the pavlik, but said to wait 2 weeks to set up an appointment — he said he wanted feeding to get established and the baby to get back to birthweight, I think he may have felt bad for us because it was right before Christmas :)

On 12/27 we saw the orthopedist who did a quick in office ultrasound to look at the depth of the socket and the angle, and put him in the pavlik harness. He wore it 24 hours/day for 3 weeks, had an ultrasound which showed good progress so now we do 23 hours/day x 8 weeks, and then bedtime x 4 weeks.

I was absolutely devastated when he put the harness on — I bawled in the office, I cried at home when I’d look at the baby, I quietly cried at night when I nursed him. The first time we took him out of the harness for a bath and some skin to skin I cried for like an hour. Now I’m crying just thinking back on those emotions, but it gets better mama and I don’t cry everyday of whenever I look at the baby.

People don’t understand or know what to say to you. Everyone is like “Oh, that’s not too bad” or “It’ll be over before you know it” or “He won’t even remember it.” While all those things may be true, they don’t understand how gypped you feel because this isn’t what you imagined — holding your baby, cuddling your baby, feeding your baby is different and harder and no one understands that.

Tips & Product Recommendations:
We put a plain white, short sleeve onesie under his harness to protect his skin from chafing and to help keep the harness cleaner.

We use these wipes on non bath days.

We had to size up on diapers early because the tabs were longer on size 1 and easier to thread through the harness. FWIW Luvs diapers have longer tabs but we couldn’t stand the smell so we use swaddlers.

I use the Boba carrier. It doesn’t require an infant insert (which you obviously couldn’t use anyways) — there is a little built in pillow that you use from 7-15 pounds. I pretty much exclusively wear him when we go out so that people can’t get in his face (flu season, gotta protect yourself!), but I did buy the bassinet attachment for our stroller for walks since his car seat obviously affects the harness and hip positioning.

We bought the Graco Dreamglider seat & sleeper. It goes completely flat, is wide enough to accommodate the harness, and doesn’t push on his hips or legs or anything.

RIP all your sweaters — that Velcro sticks to everything and destroys it 😂

Feel free to PM me.

I have used the moby and ergo. I love the moby for when they are still very little (like the first 4 months). I wouldn't say it's easy though, there is a learning curve with the scarf and there were a lot of things I didn't like about it. Because it wasn't so easy to put on and off many times I ended up wearing her for longer than I wanted to because I didn't want to deal with taking her in and out (like when I went to the bathroom). No one else was able to really carry her, I put it on my husband a few times but it's not an easy thing. I don't know if I just never got that good at it, but it take a few minutes to put on and because it's super long if you are out some where pieces of it are on the floor while putting it together. However, once it was on I loved it. I was able to nurse very easily in it, baby felt super secure and snug, and it was really comfortable.

The ergo, you need to use the insert for the first 2-3 months. I found the insert to be a bit annoying, but it was easy to take on and off. I've heard instead of the insert you can use a receiving blanket as well. My son is 12 months old and we still use it. it's just two clicks so it's simple to put on and off (even my bachelor brother put it on with no issues), baby has a nice M position with it's leg, and I like the cover it has for when you're nursing or baby is sleeping. I found it hard to nurse with the ergo, but from watching a lot of Youtube videos about it I found there could be a big learning curve to it. I am not a regular baby wearer, so maybe I just never did it enough to get very good at it. I was able to do it, it just wasn't as easy as the Moby. Now that my son is older he likes to be worn on the back which is fun. I haven't figured out how to get baby to be worn on the back by myself though. I don't know if baby has to be older, but for us it's a 2 person job.

I never use Zulily because they don't take returns (be warned!) but the resale value is great (in case we don't like it), I see them used all over the place on Craigslist (for more than this one costs new) and they're still 129.99 on Amazon. The reviews are good, and it's not supposed to have problems with hip dysplasia like the Baby Bjorn (which is what we were going to get).

u/jmurphy42 · 2 pointsr/NewParents

This is what I was going to recommend. I know the last thing you need is more expensive baby products right now OP, but this or this could help your GF immensely (if she's got the back muscles to bear it).

Infants often sleep better when worn, and even when they're awake it'll at least free up your GF's arms so she can do other things.

u/perhapsody · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

We loved the Fisher Price Rock and Play sleeper, and our FP Space-Saver high chair has been awesome. When he was smaller, I could strap him in and he could watch me make dinner; now it goes to Grandma's with us no problem and is so nice and non-bulky.

A Boppy pillow is awesome whether you're nursing or not, and Sandra Boynton is our house's favorite author. We especially love "Hippos Go Beserk" and "But Not The Hippopotamus."

Sling-wise, if you haven't already, I'd recommend going to a store or a baby-wearing group (or your childbirth class might have this, ours did) where you can try on several styles and see what suits you. I have worn our son since birth (and still do) but ring slings make me want to throw things. Other moms I know have no problem with them, but I never could figure out how they worked. The Mei Tai style (not this particular carrier), on the other hand, was really intuitive, and my husband liked the Moby wrap when he was really little. I am currently using the Ergo performance carrier now that he is big and heavy, because I love the way it distributes baby's weight on your hips, not back.

Good luck with your registry! Don't worry about having to buy too much gear -- remember babies survived and thrived for thousands of years before Graco came along! (nothing but love for Graco, btw, we have had 2 of their carseats, a pack-n-play, stroller, and swing frame for carseat #1. All good quality, all durable, no complaints anywhere.)

Forgive my abysmal linking, I'm on mobile. This thing is way easier to use than I thought it would be; all I did here was drop the baby in, get him latched, yank on the tail a few times and "oh, hey...I can just...let go? OH FUCK YEAH!"

It should really be pulled down over my opposite shoulder to distribute the weight better, I've since learned.

I second using an apron! There are also the hip seat baby carriers that have a good amount of storage. The one I have has a little cup carrier, a zippered phone holder and the whole area under the seat for storage.

Amazon’s doing a 25% off coupon on one of the Lillebaby carriers. If only our little girl liked to be worn 😬

To be clear, this is the one we have: Infantino Flip 4-in-1 Convertible Carrier https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M0DWQYI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZlF3CbV8YTKVJ
The snaps in the front are snapped closed and it says “narrow seat 8-15lb” and when the snaps come apart it says “wide seat 15-32lb”

This is the new one we got, no snaps and only wide seating.

My Brestfriend nursing pillow (I only used it for a couple weeks, but it was awesome for learning how to latch, and I used it like a table so I could walk around with my son on it without disturbing his latch when we were first learning)

My wrap carrier (we just registered for a cheap one off of Amazon.)

This. We use it as his bassinet and it's where he does the majority of his snoozing if he's not in bed with me.

I have this one and I LOVE it. It has gotten so much use. It is about $35, so its not a huge investment, but I know I've definitely gotten my moneys worth. My favorite things about ring slings:

  1. PORTABILITY: it is the size of a baby kitten, so it fits easily in any diaper bag or glove compartment

  2. LONGEVITY: it can be used for any size child (that you can physically carry). I used it when my baby was <6lbs and plan to continue using it when she is 30+lbs

  3. NURSE-ABILITY: it is super easy to nurse in and be discrete about too! Just loosen it a bit, throw the tail over LO's head and let them go to town

  4. SHARE-ABILTY: you dont need a different size for each caregiver

The only things that I dont like about it is that it can be hard on your back if you wear it for long periods and baby cant really look around which might make them squimy when they are bigger. It it a really good carrier to have for out and about (like you are grocery shopping or at a restaurant or at the beach) and makes it SO easy to nurse on the go, but I would not want to go on a hike with it.

Hello! Thanks for the cute contest and congrats on your baby.

I have two little men, Monster #1 is 4 years old and an avid gamer. Which is great, because mommy and daddy are gamers too. Monster #2 is 2 years old and enjoys cuddles and acting like he has all the energy in the world. I swear, #2 never rests. Never.

They are just like mommy and daddy in their interests, thought. #1 loves gaming (both), #2 loves drawing and crafting (mommy), and they both love reading (well being read to) and learning.

I have a list just for them on the left of my main wishlist and I know that they would love a new Pete the Cat book.

Birth advice- get the drugs. Omg. Get the drugs. You think you can make it, and you try to make it, but once you get up there, it hurts so bad. If you don't get the drugs, good for you and I wish you the best of luck. But remember, after 5 cm, they can't give you the drugs.

Newborn advice- hold that baby as much as you want, don't let anyone tell you that you will spoil it. Because one day that baby will not want to be held anymore. They will push you away and reject your kisses. Cherish each and every stage.

Something cute for your nursery. Well, not really for your nursery, but it was a life saver when my kids were smaller. Baby carrier.

The airflow is going on sale tonight at 7pm Central. The All Seasons is also on sale right now (only some colors...I just bought one for $104) - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R6XER5I

u/phdoflynn · 1 pointr/JapanTravel

Biggest suggestion...stay in either Osaka or Kyoto and do trips from there to the other one. Switching hotels is pain, even more of a pain with a 2 yr old. Each is only about 45 mins away from each other. Take into consideration there is not a whole lot to do in Kyoto at night, which might not be a problem since you have a 2 yr old but you could also consider making Osaka home base as it has more to do at night.
I'd say two days in Osaka not one. Lots more to see than can fit into a day, especially if you go to the Aquarium as you can be in there for a long time.
For Kyoto, three days is the best starting point. Try not to cut shorter than this. Four days is nice but you could also consider a day trip to Nara. Nara is really nice and has the whole deer thing. Of course be careful as the deer are SUPER friendly...sometimes too friendly especially if nipping at a child.
Biggest tip for travelling with a young kid...get a Carrier Backpack. Something like:
https://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Toddler-Backpack-Country-Carrier/dp/B00LH7MEMM/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1518110448&sr=8-4&keywords=backpack+child+carrier
Do not do the stroller thing. Lots of stairs, uneven ground, tight spots, etc etc.

I use this one with my son up until he was 3 years old cause he hit the maximum weight. He didnt like it at first cause he liked walking but he got use to it the more we used it. Plus he liked hanging out with me while I cleaned vs hanging out in the other room.

This thing is nice too cause it's all mesh and is really breathable. We use it to take him hiking too cause it comes with a rain shield and there is a cold weather cover that bundles them and covers their feet lol.
