Depending on the age of the kid, these could be some good ones:

What Do You Believe?

See Inside World Religions

The Belief Book and others in that series

What is God? (this one does presuppose some kind of a higher power, but compares its depiction across many religions and suggests that god is in us/everywhere around us/basically the concept of good)

I Wonder (not specifically about religion, but more about the idea that science can answer some questions but not yet all - some things are a mystery that we can only wonder about)

Also definitely recommend including some books on the scientific version of the creation story (i.e. the big bang, evolution, etc) so kids have that perspective to draw on as well. Again depending on the age, some good ones are:

Older Than the Stars

Big Bang: The Tongue-Tickling Tale of a Speck That Became Spectacular

One Day a Dot: The Story of You, The Universe, and Everything

Our Family Tree: An Evolution Story

Grandmother Fish

Sapiens: Our Human Evolution

Hope some of those are helpful! :)

Most kids books, especially for her age, rely heavily on illustration which can be a major failing point of e-readers. There aren't any singular sites for childrens ebooks from what I have found and any digital versions of the books are not going to be much cheaper than the paper versions. You can download them for free on many sites if you simply google the name in quotations and ereader format (e.g. azw, epub) but that is illegal and copyright infringement. As for suggestions of childrens literature, there are many sites dedicated to that, and what book is right for your child is going to be based largely on her taste. Based on a quick search I found this site with links to digital/analog versions of the books on amazon. If you have tablet e-reader (color) I would reccomend the curious george series for someone of her age, but again this is hugely dependent on her taste and what you are going for. I wouldn't recommend any books without illustrations for her age.

Oh, I <3 looking for books for my kids!! They are 14, 13, 12, 11, and 5. Our son is the youngest, and he loves all the books that his older sisters loved when they were younger. :D

Oh my gosh...Get those kids some books!

My son (3.5) and my niece (4.5) can recite this book word for word with each other, and it has helped, except they fight with each other like crazy!! Anytime, they start, we ask what lil monkey would have to do on whatever day, and they start reciting the book word for word, and then correct themselves. Its getting faster and they are starting to catch each other.
Now to stop the fighting...

This is a book I wrote. It's called No Monkeys in the Library.

It's about a lovable monkey and his misadventures at the library.

Disney Nature films doesn't pretend to be making scientifically accurate documentaries. There is a strong story telling element to the movies and all that really matters is that the essence of the movie is true (even if the ending is not). Oscar (government name: Victor) didn't make it, but other orphans have. If it was a fact that every adopted orphan chimp dies, fine, slam the film, but that certainly is not the case (see below). Anyone who thinks they are seeing 100% truth in a documentary about wild animals that has an actual plot is totally deluded. Yes, they had to film chimps at different sites to get good footage for the intergroup scenes. It was simply too difficult to do at Tai alone, that does not make it any less real. Yes, Disney should be upfront about this on their website and in their production notes and its unclear why they are not...Although they did put out a book that has all the details in it (http://www.amazon.com/Chimpanzee-Making-Film-Christophe-Boesch/dp/1423153642/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335187285&sr=8-1).

What seems really unfortunate however, is that the chimps at Tai (Ivory Coast) and Ngogo (Uganda), who were certainly perturbed by the filming that took over 3 years to do, are not getting any PR from the movie.

Its so great that Disney decided to donate part of the proceeds from 1st week ticket sales to an NGO, but its not entirely clear why the money is going to sanctuary chimps run by the Jane Goodall Institute and not the Tai Chimpanzee project /Wild Chimpanzee Foundation (http://www.wildchimps.org) or the Ngogo chimpanzee Project (https://www.facebook.com/NgogoChimps). Those 2 NGOs are the ones that are actually working on site, right now, to protect the very chimps that are featured in the movie!
