Link to the Amazon for the glass, for the lazy.

Yep, 50/50. I use a Gibraltar glass which you can get from Amazon here. It's a 4.5oz drink. I pull a 36g shot from 18g of espresso and shoot for 25-30s extraction just like almost all other drinks (20-24s is too sour for me).

Not sure about tips but here are some things that come to mind:

  • I stir the espresso shot to break up and redistribute the crema
  • My beans are ~2 weeks off roast
  • I use a 12 8oz milk pitcher and fill it a little less than half way. So I do waste milk when I make cortados, but if you don't have sufficient milk in the pitcher, you can't submerge your steam wand.
  • I stretch the milk only for a second or so and then just continue to whirlpool/heat. Milk doesn't need to be super hot since the drink is so small

Libbey Gibraltar/Cortado glasses from Amazon

This is great!

I love making these at home, though I often use Bourbon instead of Irish Whisky, which makes it a Kentucky Coffee.

You can order the classic Buena Vista Irish Coffee glasses online, but I find them too small. If I'm making a cocktail I usually want at least 2 oz of booze in it and you need a larger glass if you're upping the proportions.

$50?? Is that glass made of diamonds? Consider a Canadian Glencairn as a suitable and dramatically less expensive alternative to the Denver & Lily

A really well aged booze of his preference -- whiskey, scotch, bourbon, etc. Go to a higher end liquor store to ask about which booze to buy, and bonus points if it comes in nice packaging like a fancy box and/or velvet bag. Then a fancy set of tumblers, something like this. And, these cube and sphere ice molds are neat. Throw in a book about medieval history, and maybe since he's a foodie, it could be one about medieval food & drink. Amazon has a bunch.

Edit: Also, since a bunch of the medieval books cover meade, you could buy him a meade history recipe book, and put it in a basket with the raw ingredients so he can make it himself.

I鈥檓 90% sure this(Fuji Glass Fujisan Glass Rock Glass TG15-015-R https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UVOCX8M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zSCBDbTXMQCV6) is it. (I couldn鈥檛 insert a that link for some reason)

u/Janusdarke 路 3 pointsr/cocktails

Looks like the ones i'm using. Great price value!

u/ITNinja 路 3 pointsr/whiskey

I bought one of the small Glencairn glasses for myself and a couple of the larger glasses for my friends who prefer to add ice to their drinks. I was a bit skeptical at first but after using them I think they're worth every penny.

Lauren by Ralph Lauren Glen Plaid Double Old Fashioned Glasses (Set of 4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0006OFYL0/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_XVjTDbKVJHJ2C

These were found at Marshall's or tj Max and a lot cheaper.

u/knollexx 路 2 pointsr/cocktails

Thanks Mate! Yea I love these glasses too, especially considering how cheap they are.

u/soucy666 路 2 pointsr/trailerparkboys

If you guys wanted to know: the manufacturer of the glass is Anchor Hocking.

They can usually be found at Walmart.

Link to Walmart page.

EDIT: Also a link to the same glass on Amazon.

He definitely enjoys a glass of whiskey on the rocks but he is starting to get more into the aromas and flavors so I think I might get one or two of those and then also one or two rocks glasses.

I have found quite a few rocks glasses on amazon but I'm not sure how to tell which ones are good quality (not cheaply made). Any recommendations? I want to make sure I get him quality glasses.

Are these good quality?

Don't forget the [Canadian Glencairn] (http://www.amazon.com/Glencairn-Crystal-Canadian-Whisky-Glass/dp/B004HU4STS) as well, this is my favorite as the regular Glencairn just doesn't feel comfortable in my hands.

Hello watch enthusiasts...
I am searching for a Seiko Cocktail Expresso [SSA345] (http://www.creationwatches.com/products/seiko-presage-391/seiko-presage-cocktail-espresso-martini-power-reserve-ssa345-ssa345j1-ssa345j-mens-watch-11449.html) with power reserve indicator. It seems it's out of stock everywhere i look.
I rather prefer a local retailer since I live in Eastern Europe (Rom芒nia) and I am not wiling to pay custom fees and taxes for products that came from outside of European Union.
I found a piece on Amazon Germany at [494 鈧琞 (https://www.amazon.de/gp/aw/d/B073QY58P4/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1520009826&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Ssa345&dpPl=1&dpID=51nuDzmmfcL&ref=plSrch) BUT the seller does not ship to my country. And at this price I rather find it quite expensive.
So, where should I look.?

u/MsMargo 路 1 pointr/cocktails

Not the same glass, but the Anchor Hocking Tartan is similar, as is the Cristal d'Arques Paris Rendez-Vous .

Edit: Again, not the same glass, but these Orrefors are very nice glasses.

u/thehostilehobo 路 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I feel like you can't go wrong with these, they look just like the ones my parents had when I was growing up and I always really liked them.

These are pretty cool for a cheap/informal option.

I really like this decanter with these glasses and was going to give them as a Christmas gift before I found a nice bar set at an antique shop.

Fun option. Plastic, but they light up!

I think a lot of the more substantial ones aren't copper and just have a layer of copper on the outside.

I have these ones:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DNI5ENE/

They are copper inside and out, have a lacquer coating, and the handles are just copper tubing that is soldered on.

u/vinipyx 路 1 pointr/ANormalDayInRussia

I was wondering what's up with copper mug. Found out that they are sold under Moscow Mule name and stumbled upon some trivia.

u/LetThereBeR0ck 路 1 pointr/Scotch

I live next to a liquor store and when the holidays are over they take apart the unsold gift packs and sell the spirit alone. The glasses that are typically in these sets end up on a little shelf near the registers and are stupid cheap. I got two of these glasses for 99垄 each.

u/D_Gibb 路 1 pointr/bourbon

I have a few dram glasses, glencairns, and Canadian whisky glasses (came with the Jack Single Barrel Christmas set last year) that I prefer. Feel sturdy enough to me. I also brought back a Yamazaki rocks glass and a tasting glass from the distillery. I have enough options at reasonable price points for nosing, cocktails, rocks, or neat that I don't feel the need to pay a bundle for these pretty glasses that might break if I look askance at them.

I've seen these Brumate BN8G Nos'R glasses a few times that are pretty (except that they're opaque) and nigh indestructible for $24.95 each on Amazon.

u/mrockey19 路 1 pointr/cocktails

They are irish coffee glasses. You can get them on Amazon

u/Jbuns 路 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

First of all, congratulations, and thank you!

This is my item. Not quite $50, but I love it.

My brother went into the army 4 years ago, too. He did all the training, went to Iraq and whatnot, but whenever he gets leave, we always spend his first night home drinking like we're fancy. =] These glasses would be a perfect addition to make the night just that much fancier.

Stay safe, and stay strong!
