I have been baking for years, my decorating skills get better, but I am FAR better at making it faste good vs making it pretty! 😂 but that said I make birthday cakes for my kids, friends, friends kids & family. Lol! I have a simple kit that is good. I got it off Amazon. It's not to expensive & I highly reccomend going with the metal turntable vs plastic. Here is the kit I have:
Metal Turntable Cake Decorating Set - (175 PCS CAKE DECORATING KIT) With 55 Numbered Icing Tips, BONUS Tips Chart, Aluminum Stainless Steel Rotating Cake Stand and More! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KT27RRY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NnIoDbMYMPQA4

ETA: I also reccomend getting some non-slip shelf liner to keep your cakes from slidding on the turntable. It will make a HUGE difference. You can order specific cut ones, but you can make more for less with the shelf liner.

Watching Movies

Does she like going to the theater, or does she like watching movies with you on the couch?

If the theater, movie tickets make an awesome gift, and you can usually get a gift card with a pair of two tickets pretty cheap!

If at home, make a movie gift basket! Go to the dollar store, and find her favorite candy, soda, etc. Grab some microwave popcorn. Pop it in a cute basket or even one of those plastic popcorn containers (or go to your local theater and see if they'll give you one of their cardboard ones for free...) You can throw a DVD in there, too, or one of those Redbox rental coupons, if you have that in your area.

I made the same mistake too! In addition to the Wilton 1M and 2D which others have also recommended, these x-large tips were suggested to me when I first started making cupcakes, and they are great!

Personally I always need more plastic piping bags, and love getting new piping tips (especially something non-traditional like these). You could get things like meringue powder, almond flour, a microplane, a macaron mat, whole nutmeg, cute hot pads or an apron, citrus juicer. When I'm making these kind of gift baskets I try to stay away from brightly colored items (unless that's really that persons taste) because those tend to be trendy and The colors go out of style.

>I think a quality, albeit a possibly niche one, is that cupcakes are more consistent in terms of portions per serving than a cake. If you were concerned by calorie or sugar intake, it's easier to have a more accurate measure with cupcakes that are more uniform in portions than haphazardly slicing a traditional cake.

There are cake cutters/servers, for both round and rectangular cakes, on the market that you can use to get consistent cake portions.

I bought this food color kit when it was on sale, they're the best you can get for cake decorating. Otherwise I would recommend a variety of Wilton decorating tips, or a set like this, so she can use them with her disposable piping bags. All of these things are versatile because they can be used for cakes, cupcakes and cookies

u/nowlistenhereboy · 2 pointsr/Cooking

I would allow the guests to add it themselves. You could buy some small squirt bottles like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M31Y4I0/ref=psdc_13825881_t2_B003LARSAQ

Then just put whatever sauce you want on the wings and distribute the bottles individually so they can play around with it and do their own 'dabs'. Before they know it they'll start getting addicted and trying to do bigger and bigger dabs.

As for the glaze, I'd go with something sweet and mildly sour as the super hot sauces tend to be quite bitter in general.

I have This one that works just fine. It has grooves on the top that would make decorating annoying if you aren't using a cake board.

I don't know if you're a fan of cupcakes, but I looooove cupcakes. What could make delicious cupcakes even better? Unicorns.

Best cupcakes ever.

If you have 2 KitchenAid mixers, that's twice the making that can be done at once. HE'S ridiculous. I'm with you. This is what my sister got me.

How is that different/better than something like this?

u/wawmbocawmbo · 1 pointr/educationalgifs

/r/specializedtools for those "jello cake leaf syringes". Seriously, a company makes those. Tooling and everything.

Edit: of course amazon sells them... fuck...
