I totally thought he would have ordered you a Mickey-Mouse Blu Ray player like this bad boy: http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Classic-Mickey-Mouse-Player/dp/B0001NEAJS only Blu Ray (which apparently don't exist)
Read the description.

You can buy a Region Free DVD player on the cheap from Amazon.

That would be my personal recommendation.
Meh. My mom still has my Pioneer DV-606D (http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-DV-606D-DVD-Player/dp/B00000JXV6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8) that I purchased in 1997 or 1998 when I was in grad school. 17 years later, it's still in service.
If you have a DVD player with a USB port (like this one),then you just need to hook up the DVD player to the TV via the A/V hook up and connect the HDD to the drive.
This is no standard DVD player.
The one I'm returning today is this one. It's the top listing on Amazon when you search for "DVD Player":

Granted, it's cheap, but it does get decent reviews. Note however the scattered 1-star reviewers talking about it breaking instantly...
I'll check VideoHelp though, thanks for the suggestion!
Imagine movies that fit on a CD !! That's right, no overburning needed.
However at that time we watched them on glass tube tvs (the horror).
I remember buying an APEX cheap ass brand that was able to play VCDs out of the box. Awesome.

This one is inexpensive.
Why waste your time? I converted hundreds of AVI and MPG videos to VCDs to play in my DVD player back in 2001-2003. Now, you can just buy a DVD player that plays AVI/DivX. MPG, and WMV for $50. This Philips is only $40 now, and you can plug in a 1GB external hard drive into the Philips' USB port and play AVIs right off of it.

Yes. Or just a PAL one if you can find it, but a lot of those are likely to be 220v instead of 110, and thus won't work here. Well, that and you'd need a PAL tv too, so never mind. Just get the dual system player. (sorry, pain meds lol)
Amazon has some good dual system, dual voltage ones. Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-SD2010KA-Hi-Resolution-Progressive-Worldwide/dp/B0045PKK60/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1321931084&sr=8-2
Not bad for $55, if you have the money. Alternatively, if you have any military affiliation, or friends in the military, the PX/BX on bases usually carry dual system players.
Just be careful if you purchase one that it specifies it will work with an NTSC tv...
