I'm particularly proud of this because I'm notorious for starting craft projects and NEVER FINISHING THEM. 😂 This was just a cheap kit from AC Moore, but it was a lot of fun!

EDIT: this is the kit for anyone who wants it https://www.amazon.com/Mini-Maker-Neon-Mandala-Kit/dp/B07QHYW5XZ

I just got into cross-stich and I got this kit. For the price and what you get, you won't beat it at any craft store anyway. I also got the Subversive Cross Stitch book linked below. It is super fun! Etsy has great patterns and Amazon even has some too. Just depends on what you are interested in making.

Here are some on Amazon. You should see them from other sellers, as well, in the related products section.

Yes, it was this pattern from Amazon: Full Range of Embroidery Starter... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WHMZ8RD?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Thank you! I bought this kit on Amazon and I really liked it. My only complaint is the stamped pattern lines are a little thick so you have to be careful to cover them. Also, there is a very helpful video on the listing that shows how to do the different witches.

I've never cross stitched where it's viewable on either side, so someone else can answer about that. You can purchase a water soluble marker for designing on fabric, and/or water soluble fabric for keeping the squares/acts as a guide. I use the pens a bunch and they've always come out, I've used the water soluble fabric once and it worked great.

Thanks for the tips!!! Any tips are good tips! I bought a kit that I think may include one of those markers? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D3PYKCV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_PIJTBbJJEHVFN Thanks for the tips!!! I’m really into the subversive cross stitch kits, so I’m thinking once I’m done with my basic shell pattern kit I’ll look into those.

Thank you so much! It's 100% 11 count each stitch is 2 threads. This is the kit I used

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07B8M2DVV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

But i think it'll be sticking to 14ct in the future! thank you for your kind words though! It's really appreciated haha.

u/Kmes04 · 2 pointsr/Embroidery

This is a kit I got off of amazon, so the included instructions told me how many stands of the included thread to use for each part! this is what I got!

ARTISTORE 5 Pieces Embroidery Hoops... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075DZX8H3?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I've used these since day one. I tried 2 others and they just don't compare :)

I ordered this starter kit from Amazon and it's been perfect for me. Has everything you need except for the patterns.

Embroidery Starter Kit,100 Color Threads,5 PCS Bamboo Embroidery Hoops,2 PCS 11.8 inches Aida Cloth, and Cross Stitch Embroidery Needle Point Kit Beginner Supplies https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PMVCNM2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_4e-BDbWP46NZA

I also downloaded a few simple patterns I liked from Etsy, and the kind of patterns I want to do don't require exact color matching (words and borders versus something that looks like a painting)

For $30 total I'm off to start and can be occupied for many months.

Here's the Amazon link. The instructions are pretty bad but it gives you everything you need!

I’m U.K. based and found DMC is quite expensive (just over £1 a skein) so if you find it cheaper let me know.

I think for bigger patterns that have a lot of colours it’s worth finding a kit for it. One I’ve been looking at lately costs £15 for the pattern, 87 or so colours (so would be £90+ for floss) not to mention buying the correct size fabric. Managed to find a kit containing it all for £74 which works out cheaper...

But for smaller projects I have a load of cheapo off brand thread that I colour match to the pattern as needed (this is what I got, basically an entire starter set: Pllieay Embroidery Starter Kit with 5 Pieces Bamboo Embroidery Hoops, 50 Color Threads, 2 Pieces 12 by 18-Inch 14 Count Classic Reserve Aida and Cross Stitch Tool Kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B077JKL64H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-xcOBbNJRN8E0 ) and buy some DMC from local shops as required.

I'm not actually 100% sure. I ordered this as a beginner kit off of Amazon from a seller called Berya, but it looks like they don't sell this particular one anymore. They do however, have a lot of other lovely sets!

You can go the easier route and buy a kit that'll give you everything you need to start. The fabric, pattern, needle, thread, and a guide most of the time.

You can find them in a lot of places:

Walmart

Amazon

Etsy

If you want to get everything separately, you should be able to find everything you need at a craft store like Hobby Lobby, Michael's, or an online retailer like 123stitch.

For patterns in particular, I really enjoy browsing Etsy.

If you need tutorials, Youtube has a ton! And they're super relaxing to watch. Lol.

I like making other people happy. There are actually a lot of things that make me happy. A job well done, exploring, and spending time with others are just a few of them. :)

Ummmmm. Embroidery Kit, please! 💕

u/jp-golf · 1 pointr/Embroidery

That's not a bad idea. I think I'll end up trying to turn a piece of it into a patch and maybe attach it to a small pillow as you suggested.

Does a kit like this have everything I'd need to get started?

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071HBH836

On some of the reviews it seemed like the cotton fabric that is included is not great for patches. Do you know what cotton fabric would be best to get for a patch?

u/emanbu · 1 pointr/CrossStitch

It came with this set: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B8M2DVV/ref=pe_3187911_189395841_TE_dp_1.
But I have seen many like it on wish cheaper.
