I'm going to copy & paste the recs from this list of Rodan & Fields alternatives I made a while ago. I haven't tried R+F (or most of the recc'd products), so most of them probably aren't dupes for consistency etc., but they do match the key ingredients! If R+F changed any formulas or added new products to thir Unblemished line, let me know and I'll try to find alternatives to those products as well :)

Products in bold seem like the closest match based on key ingredients and product description

I've only ever used 3 but I can recommend all of them. Secret Key Lemon D-Toc (which I think was reformulated into this), a sample of Missha Super Aqua, and Nature Republic Super Aqua Max, which is the one I'm using right now. (Names of the last two are weirdly similar I just realized, what's so super about water?) Anyway you apply all of them on dry face and start massaging it around. They all start balling up within seconds so you don't need to rub it around like crazy. Nature Republic and Secret Key are both equally gentle while Missha is a bit more abrasive, because it's not just a gel that pills up, it actually contains some tiny flour-like(?) particles that aid in exfoliation. Stay away if your skin is sensitive. None of them irritated my skin though and they all left it baby soft. I say for the price they're worth a try! You can probably find them all for even cheaper on other sites like Jolse or eBay. I got the last one for less than 10 dollars I think.

u/masturdating · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Skincare Routine:

Morning:

  • Wake up, wash face with water and apply a small amount of Biotherm Life Plankton Elixir (Got this in a sample size, free with a purchase for some other products).
  • Afterwards, I'll apply Vichy Skin-Perfecting Velvety Cream (SPF 50).If I'm wearing makeup that day, I'll use Weleda Skin Food as a primer (some sites suggested it) and go on with a little bit of foundation.

    Evening:

  • When I get home I'll take my makeup off by lathering on Nature Republic Himalaya Cleansing Balm, Pink Salt and gently wiping it off with a cotton pad. I don't want to over-wash my face so I usually leave it as is for the rest of the day until I properly wash my face before bed (Usually no longer than 5 hours)
  • Then, at night, I wash my face using Bioderma Sensibio Mild Cleansing Foaming Gel and pat face dry.
  • I use Mario Badescu's Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater as a light toner, followed by the Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid 2%+B5 all over my face and once that's sinked in, I'll apply Weleda Skin Food again to boot.

I only exfoliate twice a week, (Tuesday) once using a brush as an physical exfoliator (something similar to a Clarisonic brush) and (Thursday) the Ordinary's Lactic Acid 10% + HA as a chemical exfoliator.

I only recently started using these products together, in an attempt to help this bumpy issue I've been having for quite a few months now. I don't know exactly when it started but it's definitely only been 2+ months since it has re-appeared and stubbornly stayed with me. I've also just bought the Ordinary's Salycylic Acid 2% since I've heard it does wonders, especially paired with the Niacinamide (which I need to get!).

If you've any recommendations or advice, I'm willing to hear and learn more! If it helps at all, I currently live in Sweden so not all products are found here, keep in mind. I'm also sorry for the switch between amazon.co.uk and amazon.com - I couldn't find some products on the US site.

I would so, so, so appreciate any help given. (I have a more HD picture if wanted, but it's gross - imo). Am I doing something wrong? Is it an allergic reaction to something? The spots aren't itchy or anything and they don't flare up or turn red (the only redness/red spots are due to me picking the skin, I must admit I suffer from Compulsive Skin Picking - which makes this whole ordeal horrible).

EDIT: Grammar and change of a product + Forgot to specify that I do have PCOS (policystic ovarian syndrome), and I'm taking birth control pills for it. I know it can affect the skin along the jawline, but how come it affects other parts of my face and comes and goes? I have some speculations that this is not hormonal acne.
u/watermama · 4 pointsr/keto

I'm just starting keto, so I can't comment on any connection, but . . . I've had eczema for much of my adult life, mostly on my face. I get the snowflakes constantly. My allergist says that eczema is definitely related to allergies, unlike the dermatologist I used to see. I know that my flare ups happen when the pollen level gets higher, or when I eat too much wheat (another reason I'm starting keto, besides weight loss), or when I eat too much fish.

I have had success with the prescription cream Elidel, it's not a steroid but more of an immune response suppressant. I found Dove to be too harsh for my skin, I use this for cleansing my face and Burt's Bees unscented baby wash for my body.

I guess what I'm saying is that it is probably not because of keto that you're experiencing a flare up, but that there could be some food that you're sensitive to (as opposed to allergic to) that you're eating more of that's causing the flare. I know my sister was prescribed a keto diet by her endocrinologist, and she got hives from eating too many eggs. Our nephew is severely allergic to eggs, so we figure she must have a sensitivity. Try looking at your diet to see if there is anything that you've been eating way more of than you used to. Hope I could help a little. Good luck, I know it sucks to have eczema on your face!

And this moisturizer

what's your budget anyways?

Basically get a good cleanser, and a moisturizer that would be enough if you're going cheaper, otherwise visit /r/SkincareAddiction

Bye bye pimples

u/StupidFaceAcne · 3 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Hello everyone, this is my life with acne and as my struggle continues. Thanks for your time this subreddit really provides great info.

I can remember popping my blackheads in 3rd grade and my mom telling me not to b/c they would scar(didnt listen). And white heads appearing in 5th and 6th grade, my upperlip was the worst and most painful. I started going to the dermatologist at age 12 and from then on I have been on every topical and random antibiotic you can think of (Cephelexin is the only antibiotic I can remember but there were at least 3 or 4) Although I was never overweight I was allowed to drink pop and eat fastfood for ever meal since before I could remember.

When I was 14 I started smoking weed, which made me realize how unhealthy I was. I stopped drinking pop, ate better and worked out almost every day from the ages of 16 - 19. By age 17 my acne had pretty much cleared up, I actually remember looking at myself in the mirror and not having one pimple (ahhh the days). I was still on antibiotics and topical medication at that time. It was all smooth sailing until I went to college.

Past 3 years, age 18 - 21 my acne returned and the last 8 months have been the worst of my life. I have a fulltime job now, work 40 - 45 hrs a week in an office, eat healthy and run 2 to 3 times a week. Drink LOTS of water, we have 10 ounce cups, I usually have a green tea with lemon and honey in the morning on my way to work and then drink 4 or 5 cups of water daily. I used to drink coffee everyday also but I stopped cold turkey one month ago.

It started out with bumps on my chin in August, and then a new white head would pop up every day. It would always match both sides of my face. Under the left side of my lip, then the right side a few days later(SO WEIRD)

I switched cleansers in the beginning of April and had a horrible allergic reaction. My skin feels destroyed, it was http://www.amazon.com/Home-Health-Facial-Cleansing-Gel/dp/B00014G6RQ I used it for about a week and my skin did feel weird but I didn't think anything of it. At the same time I was using Berts Bees Acne toner, and vitamin E moisturizer. I stopped using the cleanser and put aloe vera(plant) all over my face multiple times a day. My skin was bright red, it all fell off.

Since then my skin has calmed down a bit, no longer flaking off in chunks. I only wear mascara, don't want to upset my skin anymore by putting concealer on. I also stopped using toner b/c I dont want to overwhelm my skin.

MORNING & NIGHT
Rinse face with warm water,
Clense with dime size amount of Proactive Renewing Cleanser
Rinse with warm water, Splash cold water Air Dry

So thats it, not in a good place. I have a boyfriend and alot of friends but I can barely stand to look in the mirror. I am scared I permanently ruined my face. I went to a dermatologist 2 months ago, she prescribed me a antibiotic and Atralin Gel (go figure) but both of them combined would have been over $500.

I actually have a bottle of Atralin from a few years ago, but it expired last October 2013. Do any of you guys know if you can use it if it is expired? Also what is your opinion on when I should start to add other products into my routine.

I really am at a loss and very upset over all of this. I know that if having acne is my worst problem then my life really isn't bad, but I can't help but get horribly depressed when I see my acne/scars/whiteheads/big pores.

Would really appreciate any feedback, thank you all if you took the time to read this.

EDIT: Idk why some of the pictures are upside down I uploaded them rightside up.

Related question - I have a skincare gel which is designed to make my face feel cold ("fresh") when applied with water. Is this working in the same way, do you think?

  1. out of the 2 oil cleansers, skinfood gets suuuuuch a good rap on this sub. The other one, I've never heard of. Here's another uuuuuuber omg so beloved product in this category. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0080M092E/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1420457157&sr=8-1

  2. check out the holy grail list for each product category! https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/2k2j9z/holy_grail_and_honorable_mentions_fall_edition/. I find it super helpful.. And terribly enabling. Beware. Though, I personally use and love this particular US version of a popular Japanese (?) brand, hada labo. http://m.target.com/p/hada-labo-tokyo-hydrating-facial-cleanser-3-5-oz/-/A-16512820#prodSlot=dlp_medium_1_5&term=hada+labo+tokyo sold at target, Walgreens and Amazon. So gentle. Non stripping. Removes oil... Yay :D. Other popular foaming cleansers: http://www.amazon.com/Missha-Super-Oxygen-Visible-Cleanser/dp/B00CJI974Q & http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0036MDUEM/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?qid=1420457088&sr=8-6π=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

3). I've never personally tried secret key! Maybe the holy grail list. Can help? What I do know, as far as 3 in 1 products go, hada labo perfect gel http://www.amazon.com/Rohto-Hada-Labo-Koi-Goku-Jun-Whitening-Perfect/dp/B00BQV36BM I have heard only good things about. (try searching the product name in this subreddits search function and are what people say!) None of those 3 are exfoliants. Here http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00F35GT0W/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1420455918&sr=8-1&dpPl=1&dpID=31IYRNG-byL&ref=plSrchπ=AC_SY200_QL40 is an aha exfoliant (for exfoliating dead skin), here http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_ss_i_3_5?ie=UTF8&k=Ciracle+bha&sprefix=Cosrx are a few bha exfoliants (for exfoliating inside the pore). I personally have only ever used bha and aha exfoliants from paulas choice, also found on amazon, and have only good things to say about it. If you don't want to pay that much for their products, stridex pads are a good non-asian beauty alternative for a bha and st ives exfoliating pads or nip + fab glycolic fix are good non-ab options for an aha. all found on amazon. Please also note that exfoliants don't typically go on third. They go on first, and are generally allowed to sit on the skin for a half hour at least to work uninterrupted before beginning the rest of your routine.

  3. I have heard only good things about both of those ampoules. I fucking love mizon products. If your skin is dull you neeeed vitamin c serum in your life. STAT
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EHAXCUY/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1420457337&sr=8-1. I use and love this essence http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_ss_i_0_17?k=benton+snail+bee+high+content+essence&sprefix=Benton+snail+bee+ , very popular. The first two products on this page http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=is_s_?ie=UTF8&k=Missha+time+revolution+ aka the missha essence and ampoule... So. Many. Good. Things. Have been said about it.

  4. I say go for the snails. Snails snails snails. Well it's the only product I've had any experience with out of those 3.

  5. Emulsions are lotions yep.

  6. holy grail list holy grail list. So many good creams. Too many good creams.

  7. holy grail list holy grail list.

  8. NICE. That's on my wish list, Hope you like it!

Sounds like you are going through retinization. I would stay away from bha, aha, and vitamin C until your skin gets used to the trentoin. I wouldn't scale back too much on the trentoin. Maybe take a two day break and moisturize the heck out of your face. Also you do need to exfoliate while using trentoin because it's not an exfoliant and you don't want to get clogged pores. When your skin starts to get used to trentoin, you can add in a bha to use during the day.
My daughter and I are using adapalene and my skin hasn't gotten dry or irritated, but my daughters has. I bought a few different gommage exfoliating gel peels and they are great for removing dead skin and it's really gentle! These both worked wonderfully on myself and my daughter. It really helped get the dry skin off.

That poor girl. Mine isn't quite that bad, but I also have the white spots within the darker areas, so I initially thought it was just a lot of brown spots around acne scars. My dermatologist was like, nope, that's melasma. She did give me hydroquinone cream, but I swear it was making me break out (the areas on my cheeks, not upper lip). She said it shouldn't, but whenever I tried using it I'd develop pustules.

Mine also came on right after I started taking BC--it was never an issue in my teens. I've been on various types over the years, even get my hormone levels tested to make sure there isn't an imbalance, but the melasma is always there. In fact, I've been off BC since mid-December and obviously not been out in the sun much because of winter, but it's still here.

Have you tried any Asian beauty products? A lot of their serums, moisturizers, BB creams, etc. are made to lighten dark spots, so I'm slowly embracing that. A couple of weeks ago I started using Hada Labo's Whitening Perfect Gel in place of my regular moisturizer in the morning (I know it says it's a sleeping pack, but I'm already using acne treatments, AHAs, etc at night!) and it could just be wishful thinking, but I really think my skin is looking brighter. Another thing I've been using for a month or so now 1-2x a week is Miss Spa's Purifying Overnight Gel Mask. It's $8 a packet and while it says you get three applications, I've gotten at least ten. When I get up in the morning after using it I swear my skin looks brighter.

I picked up some more sheet masks (lululun plus fresh red; botanical esthe; and the sakura limited my beauty diary) and the yuzu cleansing gel from the store yesterday.

I love the lululun fresh red so far! I got some light tingling from the pink that I didn’t like but no problems with this one (and I don’t look like a complete mummy in it!).

I tried the yuzu cleansing gel last night too and my god it smells amazing! I love citrus scents in general but try to avoid grapefruit. This has pretty much every citrus fruit but grapefruit and I forgot how lovely yuzu smells!

Is the peeling gel you're talking about | Link ?

I'm interested in trying it out

u/GracieInColor · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I use the Missha Super Aqua Detox Peeling Gel with good results. I just ordered a second bottle.

The Cure was too harsh for my skin causing reddness and irritations. I use the peeling gel 2x a week or so and have never had any problems with it. I will say that when I ordered it I knew it wasn't really all skin pilling up, I bought it because I needed an incredibility gentle exfoliant and it has served me well.
I have not tried any of the other peeling gels because most of them have ingredients that irritate my skin severely and I haven't felt like wasting my money when I have a product that works.

u/dkk344 · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

have you tried any peeling gel? they are very very gentle exfoliators. My skin was very very dry and flaky a couple months ago and nothing (including AHA, scrubs, hydrating masks) would get rid of it, until I tried a peeling gel (https://www.amazon.com/MISSHA-Super-Aqua-Peeling-Gel/dp/B001CTL8MM).

I happened to have a deluxe sample of this so I gave it a try. There are no other reasons why I went for this specific product among all other peeling gels. I find it not drying and very gentle.

u/malapropistic · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

Is this the rosette gel you're referring to?

u/051928374 · 1 pointr/beauty

I use this Rosette Gommage Gel and I really like it. I've also been using TO madelic acid 10% and Tazorac which can cause flakiness. But you may find that you don't need anything else. The gel is pretty gentle and it leaves my skin very soft and exfoliated.

Well, my face WAS super dry and sensitive, and here's what I've found...

Simple Refreshing Facial Wash Gel 1.7oz (3 Pack) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GMOTTYG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_DYmvxbKJXB9P8 this cleanser is a godsend. It has no smell, and is this clear gel that is so gentle. Afterwards, my face is much happier than before.

Leven Rose Organic 100% Pure Cold Pressed Unrefined Natural Jojoba Oil, 4 oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GJX58PE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_QZmvxbKK9N3M6 I dont think it needs to be this brand, but this stuff is my absolute secret weapon. It mimics face oils and my skin can't be dry with this. In the morning, I put it on and then rinse it partway off with water, while in the evening I wait the 20min it takes to sink in. You can also use it for OCM. I use it before my cleanser as OCM, and after the simple cleanser as a moisturizer, but before anything else.

SCINIC Honey All In One Ampoule All Skin https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BO10SQ4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Q2mvxbBC14QX4 this stuff is an asian beauty product, and heavily recommended on r/asianbeauty . It comes in a huge jar and lasts forever. the ingredients are crazy good, and I figured you may like it since you wanted to try honey. It's light and moisturizing, and the honey makes it antibacterial. Also, it has niacinimides, which are great for redness and staying young. I use it to prevent acne and make my skin happy, but it's the only part of my routine I could probably live without (but I wouldnt want to)

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream, Extra Dry Skin, 1.7 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NR1YQK4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_z7mvxbK58XK4T this stuff has the best texture! It's like silk. Make sure you buy the 'gel cream' and not the 'watery gel'. It was the first moisturizer I found that I've ever liked. No fatty alcohol, not sticky, but not too light. It's a little more expensive than I would like, but I simply can't do without. It's my favorite part of my routine and it leaves my face with a great finish.

When my face was less hydrated in general, I found that the hydro boost and SCINIC honey AIO stung for a few seconds after application, but they dont anymore now that I dont have microcuts everywhere. Also, with all three moisturizers on at night, my face feels a little warm at first, but that's just because of the layers, and doesnt last long. It takes a long time for it all to sink in, so it's more of a night pack. In the morning, just one or two of the products is enough (must include the hydro boost). I cant promise that these will work for you, but I haven't seen anybody have problems with these yet. Good luck!

https://www.superdrug.com/Simple/Simple-Kind-To-Skin-Refreshing-Facial-Wash-Gel-150ml/p/949396

(It's in the foaming cleanser section in the cleanser recs wiki, but it shouldn't be.)

They also have an oil cleanser that's well-loved here:

https://www.superdrug.com/Skin/Face/Face-Oil/Simple-Kind-To-Skin-Hydrating-Cleansing-Oil-125ml/p/709201

Doesn't seem to leave any grease behind (I wipe mine with warm damp blue roll)

And yes, some people use oil cleansers on their own.

Sorry, I forgot to post that. I don't have a fancy routine. I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost facial wash at night. I just leave my skin alone in the morning. For lotion I use Eucerin Daily protection with SPF 30. No specific time for using it, just when I'm around. Usually 2-4 times a day. (I use lotion when I get bored). I also use a sport sunscreen which often gets on my face due to me wiping sweat off. I don't really exfoliate, or use anything else on my face. At least for the last month, anyway.

I wonder if I somehow managed to sunburn. It sure hurts. Any suggestions for a healing balm or anything I can use? I'll have to spot test it on my wrist today and see if that hurts as well.

Hi, i'm new here and recently asked for advice in a separate post with not many answers, so i thought i ask here: i have red, bumpy acne scars from 1 or 2 month ago, i picked on them, and now they won't go away. I don't have a routine yet, but i read the guide so i ordered these:

facewash: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P1S0NI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

exfoliant(?): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000O1KP1O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

moisturizer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LEJ5MSK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

i plan to use these twice a day, but i'm not sure if these will do the trick, so i was looking into https://www.amazon.com/Amara-Organics-Vitamin-Serum-Hyaluronic/dp/B00G2TQNZ4/ref=sr_1_13?crid=3DSL6CW00OCE4&keywords=vitamin+c+serum&qid=1554331845&s=gateway&sprefix=vitamin+c+se%2Caps%2C476&sr=8-13 . Any advice, suggestions or observations? I really wanna get rid of the general redness and the scars redness. If you check my post history you can see the picture. Thanks

Oh gosh the acne! I will never forget the acne!

I had it pretty terribly through the first trimester, now I'm in the third things have calmed down so much.

The only thing that I found that worked was to use this

Although I never used foundation throughout the day time at work, I would always spray my face with Mac Prep and Prime Fix+ before leaving the house.

Hopefully your skin clears up sooner rather than later :)

I use this stuff to help with my rosacea (curse of the Celts):

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P1S0NI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_L2niyb0S7931F

Don't know if it would help you, though.

Alternately, have you tried sulfur cream/soap? Those help me as well.

She uses this aloe vera gel: https://www.amazon.com/Patanjali-Aloe-Vera-Gel-Pack/dp/B06WP7GKFF

But it's not like she does research. she just hears it from a friend and tries it. I think that's all she really does, but I dont think that stuff works, or is relevant to what she needs.

Thank u for the warning about the Phsyical exfoliant, but would it be okay to go with the Derma E and just warn her to be careful/go slow? If not, Ill go with that glycolic toner instead, which you seem to suggest is gentler.

Also, is the PA++++ necessary, or is SPF 110 good enough? Here is one: https://www.amazon.ca/Neutrogena-Sunscreen-Lotion-Ultra-Resistant/dp/B00ET04P2G/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=spf+50+UVB&qid=1559344100&s=gateway&sr=8-2

Im having trouble finding PA++++ that ships on time (She has a wedding coming up)

So, one last time, IM SO SORRY for taking so much of your time:

AM:

-20% Vitamin C Serum

-Moisturizer (Hyrdo Boost)

-Sunscreen

Then for nighttime:

-Derma E (or Glycolic Solution) Toner Exfoliant (every 3 days or so)

-Hydro Boost Moisturizer

One question: Where does a face wash fit into this? Should she not be using a facewash before all this? https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0010XP4NO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We have this face wash, is it okay?

THANK U SO MUCH
