I... love Gudetama. A lot. So when I bought my nail printer, the first full set I printed had to be Gudetama! ♡

They're ECBasket brand I got from Amazon. They fit pretty well, but I file them down around where they meet the cuticle to look more natural and match up with the shape of my nail bed.

GUUUURRRLLLL It's one of these, and SO worth it!

Universal Double Side Transparent Nail Polish Gel Organizer Holder for 48 Bottles Adjustable Space Divider with Two Toe Separator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J4498BN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_EGKiDbN795TAA

I had my polishes in a bag, then a medium cardboard box... I decided to pull the trigger on one of these, and I'm in heaven! Looking to get another, and repurpose an art box (like a kaboodle) for my tools :)

Amazon. :) It's double sided!

I feel your pain! I've had toenails fall off due to psoriasis and have to resign myself to closed toe shoes for a few months. I think 6 months is probably enough time for most of the nail to grow back but it may still look uneven.

I would start looking for a reputable nail technician near you that can make you an acrylic nail to hide the difference in nail length for your wedding and honeymoon. 5 months is plenty of time for something to grow back which they can use to adhere it too. Also if you're too wary of salons now there are at home stick-on nails you could give a shot - https://www.amazon.com/Kiss-Products-Everlasting-Toenail-Limitless/dp/B004PGZTLK?th=1

Anyway I hope you don't loose the nail and none of this is necessary!

I just ordered those doorknocker earrings! Thanks for sharing!

This sequin body suit has been worn by Jasmine Masters! And at least a handful of other queens I've seen on instagram!

These nail stickers keep fake nails on very well!

For shoes, I need height and a big fat heel!

Just a go-to sequin dress!

I'm by no means an expert, but I've dabbled with press ons for special occasions.

I've had the kind where you glue them on, like this: https://www.amazon.com/Kiss-Products-Salon-Acrylic-French/dp/B00TUDNA1O/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1487016441&sr=8-2&keywords=kiss+glue+on+nails and they're ok...kind of a pain to glue on. Some of them lasted over a week, some would pop off a day or two later...I just made sure to keep the glue with me in my purse so I could fix it if I needed to (I wore these on a cruise). They did look good when they were on, though. Taking them off was kind of a pain...some just popped off, but some were STUCK and it's hard to pry them off (and kind of painful).

I also tried these, where it's a sticker that you put on the fake nail and then press on your real nail, like this: https://www.amazon.com/imPRESS-STELLAR-Length-Broadway-Manicure/dp/B01DJLXQHK/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1487016526&sr=8-1&keywords=kiss+press+on+nails and I was SERIOUSLY impressed (no pun intended) by this line. The kiss imPRESS line seriously stayed on my nails for a full week (also on a cruise). They didn't look nearly as "fake" as I thought they would, either. People kept telling me how good my nails looked. Taking them off wasn't TOO bad, some hurt but it didn't seem as bad as the glue on kind. For the ease of application and the minimal damage of these, I would totally recommend this line. They come in a lot of fun colors to try, too. I was surprised by how well they stayed, because I recall these sticker-type nails when I was a teen, but these ones are really good.

With either style, you're not going to have that HARD acrylic feel to them...when you tap them on a table, they'll feel like plastic, not acrylic (which, of course seems obvious thinking about it, but it's still weird if you're used to acrylics having that solid feeling, like I was). Also, since the edges aren't totally attached like acrylic would be, I found that my hair would sometimes get stuck in the edges (like the part next to my cuticle). However, I felt that I was willing to deal with that if it meant not having to deal with acrylics (the damage, the fills, the expense).

u/melcrose · 4 pointsr/classicalguitar

Why, yes.. yes I do.

Same, tons of broken nails and time spent trying a million different nails / glues / ideas.

Know that I never ever tried "crazy glue" .. I didn't want to damage my nails with that stuff.

So, I opted for "glue-dot" like removable nail glue tabs. Some are garbage, some or OK, a few are GREAT. Here is great:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GD6J12S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They will usually stay on for 2 or 3 days, and they are cheap enough they are super easy to replace. Plus, these roll right off your nails and the fake nail, so PERFECT. (some don't and are a pain to remove, forcing you to "remake" the nail every time.)

Nails:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DH2Q3WM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Lots of different kinds, these are the easiest to shape.

Get a good nail clipper like
https://www.amazon.com/Toenail-Clipper-Professional-Heavy-Duty-International/dp/B00QLZAZT4/ref=sr_1_40_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1482465746&sr=1-40&keywords=nail+clipper

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY.. 400 grit sandpaper. Use that to shape the nail, then rub the sandpaper on itself to make it more like 1200 grit (smoother yet) and use that to "buff" the nail. (use the sandpaper on your real nails as well to be sure they are perfectly smooth.)

Use your thumb nail to rub on the real nails and fake nails to make sure you don't have any chippy spots, it should feel perfectly smooth.

Questions? ask. I'm the king of fake nails.. don't tell my wife. :)

u/kalechipsyes · 4 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

Try just basic nail painting first, though, to get the hang of working with the medium and canvas, before jumping into something a little more complicated. Like most things, learning the basics makes the more complex stuff easier, makes mistakes easier to deal with, and makes the end result last much longer.

As an alternative to painting directly on her nails, you can paint whatever you want onto something like these for her to just stick on.

Getting one's nails painted is extremely relaxing, though, so I'm sure that the former is more appreciated. Maybe try getting yourself a manicure (plenty of men do it, and they will automatically assume you want either no polish or clear polish) and watch how they do it/ask questions. It's a whole thing with prep and massages, which can be a really nice and easy-to-do addition, no matter how the nails turn out (though, I'm sure that they will turn out nice, and that will definitely be a plus!!).

Sorry for the long answer, but I really love this! So I’m pretty uptight about my nails and I can’t handle any chips. Once it chips I have to redo them. I swore by seche vite as a top coat for years... but then I tried dipping powder at a salon and I was sold! I figured I can do my nails as well as the salon so I can figure it out. I’m still learning (I’ve been doing this for maybe 2-3 months) but I’ve made great progress! I say that because there’s a learning curve. I do think they look salon quality right now.

I purchased this kit from amazon $39 Kiara Sky Dipping Powder Essentials Kit Steps 1-6, 0.5oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0785N6LYD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rmsWCbFP80J18

Honestly: I wish I purchased the French tips kit ($109) instead bc I wish I had more dipping powders to choose from. I’ll probably buy that when mine runs out.

I picked a few colors of the powder I liked. I will say the store brand at Ulta (red carpet) is absolute trash and do not use it. The powder and the kit from ulta are not good quality. Kiara sky is significantly better. This is the tough part bc it’s kind of a guessing game, but it’s also fun trying new colors.

Gospire 10 Pcs Plastic Nail Clip Nail Art Gel Polish Remover Soak Off Cleaner Cap Clip (pink) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KHSTE7O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aqsWCb562XM3R I purchased these because removing the dip sucks. I take acetone on cotton balls and soak them for about 45 min-1 hour.

I purchased a drill and use on the lowest setting to clean up the edges. From where the clear coat settles around my nail bed. I can put the drill on my raw skin and it doesn’t hurt, but I was super nervous to try I at first. MelodySusie Compact Portable Electric Nail Drill - Light Electrical Professional Nail File Kit For Acrylic, Gel Nails, Manicure Pedicure Polishing Shape Tools Design For Home Salon Use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H05EDK0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_assWCbHZ4KRSX

Those are the tools I bought. It takes ~1 hour to do the dip and it lasts 2-3 weeks. My toes last longer. It doesn’t chip, dries right away, and your real nails will grow out and not break off bc it’s so strong!! My nails look fake, but they are real.

I watched a few tutorials on YouTube and it’s really easy! It does take a bit longer but it’s totally worth it IMO. Feel free to PM if you want advice on how to actually apply it.

u/makemapseveryday · 3 pointsr/weddingplanning

They make fake toenails! If they do remove your nail, after a few months you might have enough of a nail grown back to attach a fake one. I had an ingrown toenail removed and while it took a long time to come all the way back, there was maybe half a centimeter growth after a month?

Example on Amazon

I'm a really big fan of Mia Secrets products if we want an inexpensive expensive medium setting traditional system. I have their acrylics, gels, preps, and primers and I honestly haven't had a dud from them yet. They have this little intro kit if you want super small sizes of the bare essentials to try before committing, but I'll also show you everything I use to do a set of new nails with their system. If you go with the kit, the brush isn't the greatest...but it's better than most other kits in this price range.

  • I dehydrate the nail using Mia Secrets Nail Prep.
  • I apply my nail tip of choice and make sure it's straight.
  • I brush Mia Secrets No Lines over the smile line of the tip and allow it to dry.
  • I prime the nail using Mia Secrets [XTrabond]
  • I fill my dappen dish with Mia Secrets Liquid Monomer, ensuring there is enough liquid in the dish to submerge my brush from tip to ferrule.
  • I drain my brush as needed to make the correct size bead then dip it into Mia Secrets Clear Acrylic Powder 3 times.
  • I shape and buff the nail.
  • I apply Mia Secrets Icegel top coat if my client does not want polish, alternatively I either polish the nails as normal, or use Mia Secrets UV Finish Gel if the client has paid extra for a UV top coat. (Sorry about the non Amazon link! It's not available on Amazon currently.)

I PROMISE I AM NOT ENDORSED OR AFFILIATED WITH MIA SECRETS OR NAILITE WHATSOEVER. I just happen to use and love a lot of their products.

I can also suggest Nailite's OMEGA system if you're a problem lifter. It's comparable to using CND's Retention+ liquid in my opinion.
They sell a small kit and a large kit. I bought the large and it's an amazing value with a high quality brush to boot! I follow a similar system with it to Mia Secrets, but I'll outline the steps again.

  • I dehydrate the nail with Nailite's Nail Prep.
  • I apply my nail tip of choice and make sure it's straight.
  • I blend the nail tip into the natural nail ensuring there are no ridges.
  • I prime the nail with Nailite's Something Wonderful Protein Bonder.
  • I fill my dappen dish with Nailite's Omega Liquid Monomer, ensuring there is enough liquid in the dish to submerge my brush from tip to ferrule.
  • I drain my brush as needed to make the correct size bead then dip it into Nailite's Omega Powder 1 time and hold it there for 3 seconds.
  • I shape and buff the nail.
  • I apply Nailite's Wet Look Top Coat if my client does not want polish, alternatively I either polish the nails as normal or use Nailite's High Gloss Tackless Sealer if the client has paid extra for a UV top coat.

If you have any questions at all about any products you may come across, tips on technique, or would like more product suggestions, etc.... I encourage you to PM me at anytime. :)

My thumb nails are 17mm wide and I got some stick on nails from Amazon. Would that size work for you as well?

Edit: Here's the set I bought. There are ten sizes but the ~17mm is the largest of the bunch

Something like the "KISS Complete Salon Acrylic Kit" is great. $15 little man, put that shit in Bezos' hand
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FQ5T0U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9nE0DbXNJJFR6

have you tried the acrylic style cutters?

u/PipPine · 2 pointsr/Nails

here you go!

Everything in it was great except for the brush. It was terrible and ALL the hairs fell out so quickly. So I ordered another brush separately for like $6. And that definitely made a difference in ease of sculpting.

Kiss Products 100 Full Cover Nails, Active Oval, 100 Count https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FQ5T8W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_VWt7CbMNT8S2Y

keep in mind, this is A shape, NOT the ONLY shape available. they also have different sizes (lengths) depending on your needs.

they make clippers for these as well, or you can just use regular nail clippers and files.

they maintain regular polish better than your natural nail since they dont get soft and malleable with water

u/KlimRous · 2 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

Hi! So one of my nails started peeling. Not the polish but my actual nail! So now my left thumb nail is one ply instead of two (if that makes sense) and it's super bendy. I don't know when it will grow back to normal, so I was thinking of trying at home fake nails. Specifically these from Amazon. Is this a good idea or a horrible idea? And, how messed up will they make my normal nails look once removed? Any advice/suggestions appreciated.

u/oklettucehead · 2 pointsr/RedditLaqueristas

i got all my recommendations from fellow redditors, believe it or not! i have purchased 4 types of nails: 1, 2, 3, 4. i just ordered another shape from Makartt because i think they're the best quality. as for the stands, initially i was putting the fake nails over my own using poster putty, but i snagged these stands from amazon and they were a game changer! let me know if you need any additional guidance, i'm happy to help!

I only wear fakies. My natural nails have greatly improved from using Nail Envy, but at this point I prefer the fakies and have been using them for over a year. I always use two coats of OPI Nail Envy on my natural nails, followed by a coat of ORLY Rubberized Bonder. To make them last longer, wait for the ORLY layer to dry, then gently rough it up a little with a file. For shorter lived nails, leave that layer smooth. This is the state of my natural nails right now. They are so shiny because I'd just done an oil treatment. I tend to wear each pair of fakies for upwards of two weeks, sometimes as little as just a few days. This is my favorite glue. Whether I've got a set on the whole two weeks or just a couple days, it holds up well. To remove I trim the end of the fakies, to expose the innards, soak in acetone for 5-10 min, and they dissolve right off, no damage. :) I've used nails from Amazon as well as Born Pretty Store. [These were great.] (http://www.amazon.com/2-PACK-Kiss-100-Count-ACTIVE-Coverage/dp/B007QERALK/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394820933&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=Sally+hansen+full+coverage+oval) Easy to reduce the length with some gentle filing, easy to paint/practice on. :)

EDIT: If you prefer square, [these were good as well] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00803H7MI/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), though not as great of a buy.

MORE EDIT: [This is my current mani] (http://i.imgur.com/oatOL8U.jpg), with [nails from Born Pretty Store] (http://www.bornprettystore.com/natural-full-acrylic-false-nail-tips-nail-p-1551.html), cut to less than half the length they were purchased at and shaped from there.

u/AnotherRandomPervert · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

There's a set of fake nails if you're into it. There's enough there for quite a few style changes, or if you're into making fake teeth for costumes, these work perfectly too.

u/hailey180 · 2 pointsr/Nails

Ooh, acrylics are no joke with the setting up time. I tried once with a KISS kit and gave right up. One day I'll give it a shot with decent products.😂

I get my supplies from nail supply stores, Amazon, Ebay, craft stores (for tiny detail brushes), or brands I find on instagram. I shop at LUXAPOLISH for gel and ombre brushes and TheGelBottleInc for builder gels, builder in a bottle (amazing for growing natural nails), gel polishes, and forms.

My nail drill that I've had for several years and kicks ass is from Amazon. I also get my ceramic and cuticle bits from there as well.

I use an efile. It's way faster as you said. Carbide bits are the really scary ones with big metal teeth but they are also the fastest way to take the polish and top coat off acrylics when you need to fill the nails. I have totally hurt myself with one when I was practicing on myself but I healed up all good. There are a lot of great videos on YouTube about proper efile handling! This is my current efile I'm using.

When I was younger I was invited to a sleepover, My first sleep over to be exact! There was a girl who was invited and couldn't make it so another girl that I didn't like was invited. I am sure everyone has seen this in the movies but naturally me and this girl ended up getting along real well and I made the remark of how I was glad that the one girl couldn't make it and that she came instead. Drama broke out from there because she was upset she was not invited first,... pssh she was a bitch anyways! It was a good 10 hour friendship though! XD

You can find the adhesive tabs for false nails on amazon. I use them when I know I cant keep my nails on for more then a few hours, otherwise I put a coat of clear topcoat on my real nails and glue the false nails on top of that ( makes it easier to get them off when I need to take them off) Hope this helps. here is a link to the ones I use https://www.amazon.com/enForten-Total-False-Sticker-Manicure/dp/B00GD6J12S/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1526230618&sr=8-1&keywords=false+nail+tabs

I like to get white tips and then put that clear powder over it. It makes it look like you've always got a french mani, so when you don't feel like doing nifty designs, you can just throw on a top coat and go.

I need more of the powder, but that will have to wait till I have more money... I kinda went over my budget with other nail stuff, haha

My time has come! I fix my hardworking boyfriend's split nails all the time! :)

First off... keep it clean! Under nailbed infections hurt like hell, and there's no replacing good hygiene.

My go-to method is to apply a thin layer of nail glue (or superglue in a pinch, but if this happens a lot make the investment in the real deal). Then, take a tiny piece of teabag, the more "fabric like" the better and gently place it on top, doing your best to both cover the entire split, and a bit behind it. Try to keep the bag saturated (i.e. no lifted lighter corners); do this by pressing gently with tweezers. Wait a few seconds until the bag is stable, then cover with a healthy bit of glue. If you make a bumpy finish, you can "sand it down" with a gentle file or a nail buffer. Here's a good guide! https://www.today.com/style/how-fix-broken-nail-tea-bag-t105080

If this split gets truly gruesome, I'd recommend buying a set of fake plastic nails online (like these! https://www.amazon.com/Makartt-Perfect-Length-Natural-Acrylic/dp/B07BKPS1Y4/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=fake%2Bnails%2Bwide&qid=1555304155&s=gateway&sr=8-6&th=1 ) or from a beauty supply store and gluing one on nicely (make sure it's the right fit and curve). File it to length like a normal nail. It should last a week or two before falling/breaking off on its own, or it may just grow off. You can get skin toned ones, but if you want to keep if discrete you can always paint it or cover it with a band-aid or something.

Good luck!

Done at home. Took too long b/c I decided to have a snack :\

Anyways:

Nail prep: Removed all of the old nails like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMLH9twDDJs

Hell yes I used the clippers and they came off like "ping!" with no nail tearing or breaking. It was awesome.

I didn't use acetone to remove. I just used my Makartt Nail Drill + Dust Collector to file down the existing gel and leave a layer of gel that has no lifting.

Eponychium gently pushed back to increase nail estate, and expose cuticle. Cuticle removed with a diamond drill bit and the natural nail was abraised using that bit gently.

I used 99% alcohol to dehydrate. No need to buy an expensive dehydrator. I use Mia Secret Acid Free Nail Primer (3+ week stick time). Two layers.

Then follow up with a Born Pretty base coat just for a tacky base layer.

Next, I used these nail forms to shape out a coffin. It actually has that shape.

I used IBD Natural II in a super thin layer and filed and shaped those before adding the glitter. Thick enough for color, but thin enough that it is not supportive. No apex.

The glitter was bought from AliExpress seller beautystock365

Glitter was applied by dipping a basic brush into some builder gel set aside for the purpose of glitter (you will kill the whole container if you use a glitter infected brush in a full container!) and patting down on the nail. The gel doesn't move at all in this method when thicky packed so you can reduce how many times your hand goes in the lamp.

Once fully cured, they were capped using the glitter infected IBD clear gel. Little pieces of mylar were added in the capping layers for a 3D shift effect.

Once capped, shaped and filed, nails were coated with Naio Nails Mega Gloss for shine. I had ordered some Gelish, but I think I got some fake shit.

The accent nail: regular gel polish was marbled onto the nail matching the colors used from the glitter. The design was cured, and polygel + mega gloss was applied to create a strong adherence layer for the 1.2 mm AB stones I ordered from eBay (I'm still waiting for my shipment from aliexpress :|). The order is cure color gel > add base coat + cure > polygel + mega gloss > put stones into wet gel and press down and cure > put gel around the sides so sharp corners don't cut you and cure. Bling.

So far, the nails have been on for two weeks with no lifting or breakage, so here's week 3 :D

I also use little things like: tips, glue, cuticle nippers/tools, cuticle oils, alcohol wipes, acetone, etc. I hope this helps! Please note, I have been doing my nails for a long time and I have built up my collection over the years. It is expensive from the start, but always remember, everything will last you longer then the salon because you’re only doing your nails once every few weeks. Good luck!!! 😁😁😁

These are my real nails now!!!! They DO need to be encased in nail polish since they’re pretty flimsy, but no more fake nails. The polish helps toughen them up.

I used the bulk packages of Kiss nails, petite since I wanted them short. I used Kiss glue as well- both the nails and glue were recommended to me by someone’s mom who was a nail tech. I found the nails stuck a lot better if I roughed up the underside with a metal file. Making sure to press VERY firmly while the glue dried helped a ton, and just making sure I had some glue with me since they do sometimes fall off. If possible, wear gloves while doing stuff like washing dishes since water can make them fall off, but you can just put them back. I would also always double check them after I showered or whatever.

Again, I didn’t want anything crazy... just something that looked normal so I cut and shaped them short with a metal file. I actually lovingly called them “nail jail” since it was physically impossible for me to bite the nails under them. Here’s a picture of me wearing Kiss nails about 2 years ago, and some info on how I painted them.

As far as removal goes, you can soak them off in acetone, ooooooor just get a bowl of warm water and soak your hands until the nails fall off. Then you use acetone to clean off the glue bits left on your nails. With this method you can even clean the underside of the plastic nails and apply them again later if you really liked the design.

Glass files were less expensive than I thought! Looks like $10 for 3 from Amazon. They’re just gentler on nails and I guess are supposed to also help layers not flake off? I dunno, I just read about it and liked using them. All the fancy nail art youtubers love them so they must be good. 😆

Always happy to help another nail biter. I felt like no one else struggled like I did and it was so hard to find info I could actually use. I guess I sorta just came up with a method that worked for me, and I’m not tempted to bite anymore. They’re too pretty.
