There are a bunch of non-conforming products out there.

And they're not from "gimmicky" companies, they're from legit sellers of golf club components and custom assembled clubs.

I have never used them, nor have I found a decent evaluation of how well they actually work though. (I don't trust the reviews on their own websites, I assume those are just written by their own employees.)

I would LOVE to see real side-by-side trackman testing by a 3rd party.

I would consider Wilson Staff Fifty Elite Golf Balls, Dozen Slide Pack

Or Wilson Duo golf balls used from Craigslist/eBay.

They're both within that budget but I would much prefer the used Duos over 50. 50 feels a little harder to me than the duo which probably plays similarly to the mojos.

No one want's to buy illegal clubs generally, so companies like titliest, ping, etc won't knowingly make an illegal club. Sometimes the rules are changed after those clubs are in production. Production stops shortly there after.

But here is a list of non-conforming equipment you can buy:

Check out the Wilson 50. About $13 a dozen and not hard as a rock. I use it as my winter ball.

TaylorMade RBZ Soft Golf Balls, White (One Dozen) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y6855N5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_9ejlDb8S3M8CV

25% off at checkout makes these cost about $13 per dozen. 3 piece with urethane cover? Description says ethane but idk if that's a thing. I'm buying anyways since I also have rewards points to spend.

No. These.

They actually do work pretty well. They're banned from use in USGA sanctioned tournament play. But I'm guessing you're not playing in too many tournaments as a beginner.

Ahh, I almost ordered them... but at the last minute I switched to these. I'm still way too new at this to pay so much for balls I will lose. Gotta ease into that I think, lol.

The Volvik S4 maybe?

It's really impossible to say, and I've looked a lot over the years. For example, if you compare some random item like Titleist prov1x golf balls, 5-8 numbering:

Amazon US: $39.99

Amazon Germany: €52,63

€ 52.63 = $ 59.99

39.99 x 1.2 = $47,988 = € 42.97 so for these golf balls there is apparently a 20% additional markup.

But that conclusion would be very misleading. US prices are lower because the market is so big and land is cheap (in comparison to the EU) for intracompany transport and warehousing, bringing down the end price. If you buy things that are produced in the EU, the extra difference may disappear or go in the other direction. Import duties also play a role.

Suffice it to say I've found no hard and fast rule after 20 years of Eurozone looking. When I look for bigger ticket items for me personally, I look around the internet...and at my travel calendar where I'll be and if I can take delivery somewhere other than my home or office.

I would love to see one of these balls cut open and compared

Something like this:

The possibilities are endless when you loosen restrictions on equipment.

As for rules, most apply to technology but things like stroke and distance on Out of Bounds. Mulligans. I'm not saying I have the answer but creative thinking can be used.

They’re not that special, I play them all the time. They’re just the BXS Tiger edition.
