I've always waxed by myself cause I started as a poor college student, but there's definitely a learning curve. In the beginning, I'd take an Advil about an hour beforehand to help with the pain, but I don't need to do that anymore. For beginners, I would recommend sugar wax like Parissa Body Sugar because in my experience, it's a little less painful, less likely to rip off skin, washes off with soap and water in case you mess up, etc. Because it isn't as "grippy" as normal wax, it can leave some stray hairs behind, but I find the easy clean-up to be super important for DIY. You can play around with how much you want to groom - the mons and labia are going to be more sensitive and painful to wax compared to the areas further away so sometimes I'd just trim those and wax the areas that would peek over the top and sides of a bikini.

I started off using Surgi Wax Brazilian Hard Wax since you don't need any cloth strips - just apply, wait for it to harden slightly and then rip off. I switched to Parissa Strip-Free Hot Wax at some point in college since I didn't have a microwave and only my wax warmer, and it was roughly the same. The issue with strip-free wax is if it's too hard, it's a BITCH to deal with and the only way to get it off is to either cut the hair or melt the wax (owww..) I've also tried the Parissa Warm Wax which uses cloth strips that you rip while the wax is still warm and pliable, and I think this was definitely the application result that yielded the smoothest results. The strip-free wax would only reliably grip hair longer than 0.25", but this one seemed to get it all. If you go to a professional, they'll probably use the warm wax with strips and you'll have really smooth results. (You also don't have to deal with the anxiety of pulling the hair off yourself if you go to someone. :D) These waxes are difficult to clean though. You basically have to wait until they harden so you can chip them off like candle wax or apply oil to loosen it.

I think that was probably more information than you needed, but hope it was helpful! Haha....

Maybe. It sounds like a good brush would be an advantage for your budget. Whether the Artis 7 is the right brush depends on the other factors that are going into your decision.

If you've settled on that one because of the hype, there are a few alternatives worth considering:

If you are flexible on the toothbrush grip:

The Real Techniques buffing brush will leave you with a very similar finish, though blending out takes longer than the Artis just because of the size difference.

If you're looking for super fast, a lot of the Bob Ross style contour brushes make a really good Artis stand in; dense synthetic bristles, but mobile enough that the foundation gets blended on rather than picked right back up.

If you like the toothbrush form factor, but are open to Artis alternatives:

I recently grabbed this set from Amazon. The two largest brushes and two smallest, circular brushes are outstanding, the rest of the set is utter nonsense. For the price, I can live with that.

I second adding a BHA product like Stridex Maximum Strength Pads. The BHA here is salicylic acid, which is like roto-rooter for your pores (an aesthetician told me that once and I liked it).

The biggest game changing secret though is an oil cleanser. You can't go wrong with this one. Video here. It's an extra step, but it transformed washing my face into a relaxing experience I look forward to.

I mainly use two different kinds for different areas. I've come up with this after multiple trial/errors.

For my face & armpits I use Gigi Brazillian Bikini Hard Wax - Microwaveable by Sally's. It doesn't require strips, and actually grips & removes my stubborn hairs. Plus I like that I can just microwave it, use what I need, put the cap back on. I'd say the little jar will last me about 6 months - so that's $2/month if you break it down that way.

For my legs I use Clean & Easy Roll-on Waxing system that I initially got at Sally's a long time ago, but I don't think they sell them anymore. I love the roll-on system for this. It makes fast work of my larger areas. While I normally don't wax my arms, if I wanted to, this is how I would do it. This system requires wax ($20 for 6 cartridges; 1 cartridge will do both FULL legs), plus strips ($10/a lot? I use 5-6 per session). I prefer the muslin strips over the ones that came with this system.

I get my brazilian done professionally. I've tried countless times to do it myself, and I can do a nice bikini wax at home, but I find that I just need a third hand to go full brazilian. I think I spend $60 every 6 weeks at my health club to get it done. I justify it b/c I don't get my nails done, nor my hair styled etc. So I figure it's my form of monthly "pampering."

I also get my eyebrows done every once in awhile to make sure they stay in 'shape'. I do have to pluck every 2-3 days for the rogue lash, but I like to make sure that I get them done so they look even etc. Basically she styles them, then I maintain them, if that makes sense. And yes, it's the same Chick as my brazilian. She is AMAZING. Seriously, if you are considering going the professional route, shop around, get references etc. It took me maybe 5 different attempts before I found my esthetician. I LOVE her. She knows what I'm looking for, how I like my brows, how often I need to be seen for my brazilian, etc. Now that I've found her, I probably won't go anywhere else to get work done. I can't underline this enough - once you found someone that jives with you, plus does the job you like - stick with them.

I second this. I broke a few glass ones. Plus the glass and plastic ones cool too quickly so a double wall stainless is a better choice to keep the temperature high during the brew period.

If you take baths, you can use コラージュDメディパワー or Curel. They're designed for people with eczema and dry skin - I have eczema and dry skin and have found these both helpful in the past. You add a bit to your bath water.

I think it is a comedone extractor, but I swore that was the name of another tool. All I know is mine shows up tomorrow! Thank you Amazon!

> I'm generally too sad to put any effort into anything like that lol

Yea that part is pretty hard esp if you're feeling discouraged. For me my thought of the body I want is the source of motivation. Also I try to always make sure there's time to workout because I know it will help me get towards something I really want. Once I got over the initial hump I realise it's not so bad and even see a little progress and it just snowballs from there. At this point I'm looking forward to working out because I know it takes me one step closer. Focusing on small wins has really kept me motivated and focused.

The hair thing is pretty tough. I'm not sure what the affordable range is, but you can get a wax warmer on Amazon for like $25 and wax for like $25 for 2 pounds but then the wax is a reoccurring cost so yea it can get expensive. That's the cheapest option I've found though. I'll edit with the links just in case. There are prob better options but I'm happy with the purchase so far.

This stuff has helped me a ton with my bikini line!

I do it myself because you know, money. I use this but it's significantly cheaper if you buy it directly from the company than through amazon. I do use muslin strips with this. For hard wax, I use this, but am considering moving to cerapil or just sugaring everything.

I have medium-long, average thickness hair with an oily scalp. And I'm also losing hair and occasionally get dandruff. My ponytail used to be a quarter thickness, and now it is closer to a nickel :'( I've bleached my hair before (though I haven't in the last 1.5 years) and I think my hair loss is greatly due to bleaching and not hormone stress, or diet related

Every morning I take hair vitamins (My walgreens was selling them for 9.99) and they've made the biggest difference for me. I noticed my nails no longer break and my hair fallout during my showers are significantly less

I also use daeng gi meo ri ki gold premium shampoo and their conditioner. They have been pretty gentle on my hair and it makes my scalp less oily. I wash every other day

After every wash, I use It's a 10 leave in conditioner

Once a week I use Nature Republic argan hair pack/mask, Skinfood Hair tonic and scalp mask. I have no idea if the hair tonic or scalp mask is helping my hair, but I do like the feeling of the scalp mask.

edit: I kind of want to try innisfree mint green tea shampoo line because I've also heard peppermint helps with hair loss

Wow that looks awesome. What fireplace is that? The one wall mounted one I’ve seen that I like is this one - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Endeavour-Fires-Runswick-Electric-Programmable/dp/B01M0JH9A8?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2

But your fireplace looks lovely and it’s nicer in the Black I think as it matches the tv. The one I linked above looks really nice too and has a bunch of cool features I’m just not sure about the white frame on it.

Edit: are the led strips a separate thing you added or already on the fireplace? I have some led lights that I had in my old tv unit at the old house which I’ve kept and hope to use them when I’ve figured out how I want the TV set up to be, guess they could go behind the fireplace if it doesn’t already come with some.

Depends on the type of wax but generally you smooth on in the direction of hair growth and then pull off in the opposite direction. It's pretty easy to do yourself, this is the wax I get- [link](Wax Necessities Azulene Film Hard Wax Small Bag 100 G, 3.5 Oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SNJQQFS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Pywszb4P8DS0N) to sample size. There are directions on the package but you can also find videos on YouTube showing the technique. I microwave mine in a glass container since I haven't got a wax warmer yet.

Depends on where you live, German #NiCR are great, also great are the Intaste Tripple fused.

The only „international“ pre built coils I liked in the Zeus were:

Most wax is but honestly this shit:

https://www.amazon.com/AINATU-European-Removal-Depilatory-Ingredients/dp/B075Q5ZR2Q/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1521041317&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=depilatory+wax&psc=1

Is great. no papers or anything but it does dry REALLY FAST. the removal is pretty low in pain. you put the beans in a silicone cup (when it dries you can just pop the little remainder out instead of having to melt and scrub something else) you put the cup in a shallow pan with boiling water. make sur eto keep the water hot so the wax doesn't dry.

Use a tongue depressor to pick upabig glob of it, spread it quickly in the direction your hair grows. cover as much space as you can before it dries. wait until fully dry and then pull against the grain.

Follow it up with a soothing after shave product and a rinse.

I use hard Wave sticks too and love them. They sand very flat (something I liked files for) but are quite gentle on the plastic in terms of deap scratches. BUT for some reason the 800 grit is disconnected like in your link. Anyone know where else you can get it?

In terms of files I have the Tamiya basic , Tamiya fine basic , and a (hopefully) nicer plastic hobby file on order just to try. Files are nice for larger jobs like serious molding flaws (not common in Bandai kits) and the fine ones are OK for nubs but still quite rough compared to any sanding stick. Although, as you know I'm sure, files last forever and require much less effort and time to chew through plastic. I'm hoping the plastic file is the Holy grail and is a good balance. I bought a set of needle files and diamond files from harbor freight and they blow. The trash just don't grip or cut don't waste your $3.

And as a reference I own Revell, squadron , nail buff sticks, and have made my own sticks from automotive sand paper. The nail files are way too rough imo, making my own is a pain, and while the squadron sticks are nice I mainly only used the tri-grit while I used all the Revell except the roughest and are probably the best value imo. I still use the other more flexible kinds but dramatically prefer wave. Wish the 800 grit still were available.

Long post sorry. Hope it helps
