A couple notes:

  • There's a 2-3" gap between the non-end books and the wall that should allow for air to circulate and keep the modem relatively cool (or at least keep it from getting too hot). I'm also monitoring it with an infrared thermometer to make sure it doesn't get too warm.
  • The modem is plugged into the round white thing on top of the books. That's Google WiFi which is where my wireless network actually comes from so there's no signal loss.
  • The books were all bought from used bookstores for <$5. We didn't want to cannibalize our books so we felt like giving books that seemed to be on their last leg a sort of forever home.

Thanks! The mug is actually my friend's yarn bowl. It's even cuter in person.

So, I found these on Amazon... Handmade and if you message the maker he will burn the size on the side of them. I am in love with them! I have two and I want to treat myself to another one for Christmas I think... https://www.amazon.com/Turned-Exotic-Kingwood-Wooden-Crochet/dp/B077B7X933/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref_=yo_ii_img

There's a company that makes mounts for putting cable boxes behind wall mounted TVs. There are probably other companies with this sort of product too. I don't know if that would work for your setup or not.

I don't know if it's possible to route the wires through the wall to a better/less visible area.

There are some gun safe hidden compartment mantles people will make for you. Google brings up a few. Could also DIY it if you're handy.

Otherwise you could hide it in something decorative like fake books or a box or behind a picture or something.

Personally I'm a fan of a small shelf like this. Allows for easier access, and I just like the rustic wooden look. You could probably build them yourself for pretty cheap if you wanted.

If the frames match your decor better then like the other guys said, Michael's is a good place to get them.
