Hell yeah man. Not stupid at all. You should be proud of this space! And you fucking Tetris-ed the fuck out of that couch back there so be even more proud!

If I could suggest one thing, look into getting a little bookshelf for your pc and PS4. We have similar setups and I got a bookshelf to hold my PS4 and PC and it fits that case perfectly (fractal define r4?). Here is the link to [amazon](Winsome Wood 3-Shelf Wide Shelving Unit, Espresso https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NPTXNW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_K9iTybACJ6ZQ2)

Anyway, great setup and enjoy the space!

Actually, this crap level of work comes from owner-influenced lowest level budgeting and my own lack of networking experience. Initially the owner wanted to use plastic gardening crates, but I helped swing to wire racks to avoid the massive fire hazard. I appreciate your comments.

Computers are wire rack mounted (like these http://www.amazon.com/Alera-Complete-Shelving-Caster-Anthracite/dp/B005SG1FE6). Try not to laugh. Racks are up against the side of the wall, holes are cut for individual components so they exhaust into the hot aisles. Exhaust fans on the exterior walls assist and create a vacuum so the hot aisles don't leak heat. Standard air conditioners in every other aisle. Please don't even mention the HVAC issues, I know. This is what Facebook might have looked like if Mark Zuckerberg didn't have financing or any knowledge of networking principles.

The only reason we haven't used patch panels is that we don't know how everything will lay out against the wall, and want to avoid a conflict of space, but I have to admit that they would look a lot better than having a tiny hole drilled out for each individual cable.

This is a high risk investment, so it doesn't really make sense to dump a ton of additional money into proper server networking solutions when functionally we can accomplish the same with a little more elbow grease and wood. If and when the money starts rolling in, the next stage will definitely take advantage of the comments I've read here.

Any thoughts? Still think I should just walk away? It's a long ways home from Japan.

I bought a few of these:
5-tier shelf
3-tier shelf

And you can combine and extend them however you want 🙂

u/kyriya · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Why, I have no idea what you ladies are talking about. It's perfectly normal to have six of these along with one of these and countless amounts of these to hold all my craft/shopping stuffs. Plus, as I was telling /u/gingysnap , I have a craft closet as well as our garage is just one big storage closet. I don't think I have a shopping problem or anything. ;)

Just a few suggestions. 1 your tv needs to go up a bit. I like this stand. I hate the tiny feet. It’s easy to attach. Universal Swivel TV Stand/Base Table Top TV Stand 27 to 55 inch TVs 80 Degree Swivel, 4 Level Height Adjustable, Heavy Duty Tempered Glass Base, Holds up to 99lbs Screens, HT04B-001 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H9PLP48/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_q-J2Db2JB3PCE For the bed. Bed skirts don’t tend to work out. Use a fitted sheet instead. It’ll give a better look at a cheap price. If you decide to get a bed frame you could put your tv on the dresser. A shelving unit might help. I use boxes with lids to keep things uncluttered. FURINNO Turn-N-Tube 5-Tier Multipurpose Shelf Display Rack, Single, Light Cherry/Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FK57S2P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_QcK2DbB9YZPJ8 If you want a entertainment stand this would be reasonable. Furinno No Tools Tube Entertainment Center, Light Cherry/Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0083IYNSG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_8dK2DbQJ2ZV0S the Furrino is lightweight so I recommend furniture anti tip straps. While these are listed for dvds they are good for organizing. Snap-N-Store DVD Storage Box, 6" x 8.25" x 16.5", Holds up to 26 DVDs in Cases, Black (SNS01524) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EFJY3U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_ChK2DbYPZ7H31 There are also these. SONGMICS Cube Storage Organizer, 9-Cube DIY Plastic Closet Cabinet, Modular Bookcase, Storage Shelving with Doors for Bedroom, Living Room, Office, 36.6 L x 12.2 W x 36.6 H Inches Black ULPC33HV1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PLVVPF2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_ZjK2DbZ933MEM .If you want a bed frame something like this might be an option. Zinus Dawn 14 Inch Easy To Assemble SmartBase Mattress Foundation / Platform Bed Frame / Box Spring Replacement, Full https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00R6OXIFC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_LmK2DbP1RHTQR if you add a frame be sure to measure. They can get tall fast. Something like this is nice but make sure you don’t tend to hit toes on the posts. If so many buy black pipe insulation from a hardware store that looks like pool noodles. Just some organizing suggestions to get started.

From Amazon, I buy this: https://www.amazon.com/Seville-Classics-UltraDurable-Commercial-Grade-NSF-Certified/dp/B00B7E8Y9M/

Then I buy another extra set of pillars and wheels and use the extra shelves to make another shelving stand for my other 2 Detolfs.

u/Dyiarite · 3 pointsr/PetMice

Best thing I could find (10.7 x 18.4 x 8)

The only thing I would worry about is the little ones chewing on the coating, this size should cover 1/3 long ways.

Also you may be able to use the hooks on this not only as a stand but you could make very small holes and hook it to add even more room.

However if this doesn't work, you could add adhesive hooks so you can use cage hooking items like this

If the hooks aren't what you want then you can add items like these:

Best Option

Wooden Balcony

Platform

Platform and Swing

Platform and Swing - The Squeequel

I really hope this will help you and the little ones out!

Edit: Forgot to add this one

These ClosetMaid shelves would be perfect for your space!

They have little hooks that hook onto the shelf that’s at the top of the closet (they’re flexible so they can hook onto the bars even if they’re an odd width apart), and then they can also hook onto each other.

We currently have four of them hanging from the top wire shelf in our closet (one from the shelf itself, then three more extending down below that), and they’re great for open-front storage that’s easy to see and access. Ours our being used for clothes right now. I have them set up so that the side walls are vertical and not on an angle, but you’ve got options.

Just roughly eyeballing your space from the picture, it looks like you should be able to fit two rows of the hanging shelves side by side, if you wanted to (they’re 17” wide).

I’ve taken the ones I’ve got with me through the last four moves; most places have some type of wire shelving, so they’d be useful beyond just your current apartment. They can take a lot of weight (in one place I had them stacked four deep holding bottles of liquids, and they didn’t bend or break at all), and they nest neatly inside each other in a standard size moving box when it’s time to move.

There’s also a link on the Home Depot page to a similar type of hanging shelf that’s 24” wide, but it looks like it doesn’t have real side walls/a back wall. The ones I linked that we use are like baskets, so they’d be great for the papers/books/binders/office supplies you mentioned.

ETA: Looks like they’re a little more than $3 cheaper per piece on Amazon. The fourth picture on the Amazon listing is how we have ours set up, only with additional baskets below it.

easier solutions....these wire racks can carry up to 350lbs per shelf...I used them in my garage and basement as its easy to change spacing...add rollers....and canvass covers

Here is a run down that should be helpful:

  • My Figure Collection is the main site for keeping track of your collection and also looking up figures

  • Nyaa Figurines and Neko Magic are good for checking on new releases

  • The most popular case is the Ikea Detolf. As for bookcases/shelves, I would recommend these: Simpli Home Ladder Shelf, Winsome Wood Wide Shelf, Winsome Wood Narrow Shelf, and Furinno Corner Shelf

  • The Ikea Dioder LED lights are popular for lighting the cases, but I prefer these LED lights as they are stronger and cool white (even the multi-color Ikea Dioder doesn't do a true cool white)

  • The most popular scale figure companies are Good Smile Company (GSC), Alter, Max Factory, FREEing, and Kotobukiya; STAY AWARY FROM GRIFFON FIGURES!

  • I would recommend pre-ordering from AmiAmi, HLJ, or Hobby Search

  • For ordering already released figures, you can check the above sites and also Mandrake, Plamoya, and NY

  • If you can't find a figure on an English site, you can either use a proxy service or forwarding service to order from Japanese sites. Proxy services buy the item and then ship it to you. Forwarding services is where you buy the item and have it shipped to them and then they will forward it on; useful for sites that won't ship outside Japan. Big in Japan is good for these services.

  • As for wall scrolls, I would recommend staying away from eBay and Amazon, these are usually not official wall scrolls and the quality is a lot lower. I've actually been making my own wall scrolls and using this Custom Wall Scroll site to have them made. The print and material quality is really good and this way you can get the exact wall scroll you want.

I use one shelf from one of these units to set the tower on. I have a medium pile carpet and it keeps it off and clean.

They are available at nearly all home improvement stores as well as Walmart.

u/Vilabi · 2 pointsr/CasualConversation

Here is a link to one. I'm not sure if this is the right size that you'll want, but you may be able to find the right size in the similar/suggested products.

u/minerofthings · 2 pointsr/gpumining

Here is what I used. 2 wire shelves. 1 shelf holds 4x 8 card rigs (last rig sits in the front 'exhaust' area on top of a normal PC box). 1 shelf holds the fans that blow on the rigs. Air is blown over the rigs and to the front of the tent, and exhaust fans placed in that area for exhaust.
Tent: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MB68BEI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Wire shelves:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B7E8Y9M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Blowers for exhaust (I use 2 of these, exhausted out the window):

Fans for airflow, sitting inside the tent on one of the wire shelves (I have 3 of these):

Hope that helps.

Aw mr zip is so freakin cute! :)

And dang now that I looked closely the living room looks tiny. I think a good entertainment stand would be some like this , you could mount it or put it on the stand but ideally I think the tv should be at eye level so you don’t strain your neck.

And as for rugs I would recommend a dark color. I would get a solid color personally but I understand that’s boring for others but something like this.

I think these shelves would help you out a lot.

And I honestly don’t know where I would put mr zip. Cause in the pics i can’t tell if you would have enough room there for him and the couch. Do you have a pic of the couch under the stairs? Like if you were to stand in front of it?

I found these super helpful when I moved in with my boyfriend and we needed more space for all my stuff in our small one bedroom.

Also, we use these for like everything. I have smaller ones in the bathroom with all my bathroom girly stuff. We have a couple larger ones in the laundry closet and multiple in the closet and on shelves for storage. So helpful! Makes our place not look like a total cluttered mess all the time.

u/cassk2393 · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

It's the weekend! These are drawers I want to use in my first apartment for clothes, shoes, magazines, etc :) I haven't even moved in and I know my room is bare lol

u/JustARogue · 2 pointsr/Homebrewing

I just got another one of these for my brewing equipment.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005SG1FE6/

I have two more of something very similar for other garage storage purposes. They work great.

u/Bunnies-and-Sunshine · 2 pointsr/vegetablegardening

You could look into a metal tall-boy rack for placing plants on. They can hold quite a bit of weight and you can adjust their height to suit your needs. Usually these are used indoors because you can set up ballast lighting by wiring it onto the rack's shelves.

u/MrrrrSparrrrkle · 1 pointr/myog

I use these drawers for all my myog stuff, electronics, and other nick nacks.

Ugh, I need organization stuff! My husband and I are moving from a 2 bedroom, loft apartment to a 1 bedroom. I've been doing a lot of research and Pinterest pinning to find good organizational tips and items so that we can enjoy our smaller apartment without having stuff all over the place.

So, I could really use a Large Under Shelf Basket, a Pack Place or a Can Dispenser.

It's on my to-do list to add more baskets and such to my wishlists tonight!

u/rarelyserious · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I didn't even know I wanted this until I saw it. This will make my fridge so much better!

Now I don't think the awesomeness of this needs to be explained. But just in case it does I'll remind you of how great Powerline is.

Twinsies.

u/kinenchen · 1 pointr/Rabbits

There's a lady who breeds lionhead mixes here in Miami who had a similar problem with her babies looking frail (and coming down with Coccidioides from soiled hay) until she started offering them fresh alfalfa every day in a basket she hangs on the side of their hutch. It's worth a try.

u/optionsexplored · 1 pointr/vandwellers

You mean something like this ? That looks pretty good but expensive for plastic!

u/hox_blastien · 1 pointr/interiordecorating

Get 2 huge drawers with wheels, one for make-up and the other for your art supplies. Something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Shelving-Convenient-Transport-Multi-purpose-Construction/dp/B07CNX828C

And have the desk in the middle, or wherever really. The point is, when you want to do thing A, roll over that set of drawers, work on the desk, and when done put it all away back into the drawers and clean the desk, roll drawer back into place, then later you can take out drawer B and do the stuff there, rinse repeat.

u/Scuds20 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

The nicest thing I've done recently, is pay for the dry cleaning of the person in line in front of me who ended up leaving their wallet at home. Brightened up my day! And I will link this to help organize my pantry a little bit! Thank you for the contest!

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

Utility shelf

Holds 150lbs per shelf though I question if you can fit a carboy in there.

My suggestion would be to build your own. You can use this or this aquarium stand as inspiration. All you need is some 1/2" ply, some 2x4s and screws/drill.

u/SurrealEstate · 1 pointr/gaming

Depending on what you're going to do with your laptop (i.e. are you going to be watching movies on it, or coding while you walk?), you might be able to get away with using something like this, depending on the height of your treadmill. I only watch movies/documentaries on the laptop, so it doesn't have to be directly in front of me.

A guy I used to work with built a custom laptop holder that goes over his treadmill, and he codes while he walks.
