There are lots of baby gates that don't have doors. Really, the difference between a "baby gate" and a "dog gate" are in the marketing.

I even remember that "baby gates" used to not have doors at all and all of them were "take down to get in or out" kinds. My mom has even commented about how amazing it is that the doors are standard and how she wished that was how they came when she was raising her children (myself and my siblings).

Nope. These attach to the wall for the gate bumpers to go into. They provide a lip so the bumpers can’t slip out and topple the whole thing when you inevitably smash into the gate.

We used the Configuregate for a similar strange layout.

Our space isn't quite as wide, but we got one of these gates to be able to pen the dogs if necessary. It works super well and folds back up and takes up hardly any room. I definitely recommend it!

I bought this stand alone dog gate to keep by the front door. My dog isn’t a runner, but it’s really helpful when I’m trying to bring in groceries or have my hands full. If you don’t have two walls to pin a normal dog gate, this works great because it stands up on its own.

We had 7 or 8 others at the house to try them out and none were as good. Super easy to install and could swing both ways. However, they recommend to not have it swing over the stairs. It has a bar that can be put up to prevent it from swinging to one side. We installed it with one wall and one banister, but it is made for 2 walls. I created my own banister attachment so let me know if you need info on that!

It's not magnetic, but we've been very happy with this one. We have it mounted inside.

You can just buy retractable gates and mount those. I used to have two in a previous home. They are soft and don't hurt when you bump into them. There is a tiny bit of give but not much, and they work fine for old dogs and cats that won't be trying to barrel or bash through.

You could mount this to the outside of the stairs side and to the wall on the other side. this one is a little shorter. might work better.

Is what we used when our shih tzu pup was little (9 weeks/4.5 lb to like 6 months/10lb) to keep him in the kitchen. He couldn't get through the bars or jump it. Till he got long and strong enough to jump it! We still have it, and I use it to keep him in the office with me when I work, but if he really wanted to escape it now he could.

Is what we use now to keep him in the kitchen during the day now. This is the first one we had ordered till we realized he could squeeze through the bars. Doh! Now that he's full grown he can't squeeze through, and it's tall enough he can't jump over it. Though his head can clear if he's doing a dedicated jump. I recommend wall mounting on the door frame.

The little sliding release button on the top is plastic, but the gate is tall and the slider is not a convenient spot to be chewed. There's no big plastic handle like a lot of gates have. That's the exact gate I have and it's very sturdy. * strike this option. I'm second guessing whether the tension rod adjustment points involve plastic.

I haven't used this brand specifically, but I think this style of gate is all metal. There's no latch/button at all, you just lift and swing it into the mounted attachment cups on the wall (those attachment points might be plastic...not sure).
