I do this too, when my meds wear off. Devices like this have helped me keep track of not only my keys, but my car in parking lots. They're a tiny adaptation to my environment that help me feel more competent, and because I know I will be able to find my car and keys, I have less anxiety about those things. Believe it or not, just having less anxiety about losing them has made me lose them less. Brains are weird.

I can’t find the exact ones I bought. https://www.amazon.com/OBDATOR-Wireless-Locator-Tracker-Support/dp/B07PQ5XQZL but these are pretty close. Mine were about ten dollars cheaper. If you google wireless key finder a bunch of different ones will come up. This is an invention I probably would have thought of myself, but I knew it probably already existed when I thought of it. It has made my life so much easier.

I put tiles on all of my remotes. Also I program a universal one to do most things (except mess with settings) and hide the OEM ones in a drawer under the TV.

If the kid/mom loses the remote I can make it beep with my phone. Also I can use mine.

I also keep my older Galaxy S5 on a locked chain in that room to find them all. It happens to also have a IR blaster which can be used in place of lost remotes. Yes my lock screen is "The Ring".

It’s a tag that can be put on anything. When something is lost whoever finds it can get it back to you.

Saved me a couple times. Once with a new pair of A20s I forgot in a rented plane and my pilot bag I left at the lounge.

I figured these young people who are beginning to buy the expensive things they need could benefit from them.

Here’s a link product link

I'm not sure what the conversion makes it but I'm fairly certain you're looking at the single pack. Here's amazon with a 4-pack of Tile Sports, about $82.

Maybe it's just Android then where it doesn't; i sell them and it will only ping my phone if i have the app running. Regardless though the ability to find these things when not in range is a huge plus, and to have an apple product with your iPhone is worth the extra couple dollars. It will turn it from a "oh this is a good gift" to "i need to buy that for myself".

Tile is a nice poor-man's lowjack, with downsides, and ways to mitigate them:

-Tile is fantastic if you live in a city since there's people walking around with tile apps CONSTANTLY. Outside of urban areas its usefulness drops off enormously.

-Stick to the tile pro for the longer range and stronger signal, wish they made a big PRO-pro with huge range

-Put MULTIPLE tile pros on your scooter. Like, three, in disparate places, but have one very visible in a weather resistant pouch like https://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Replaceable-Anti-Scratch-Lightweight-Semi-Transparent/dp/B07VCJ3Y7S .

-Anyone who grabs the scooter has a decent chance of ditching the first tile and then won't go looking for any more, thinking they succeeded. Also, having 2+ makes gives the tiles a much better chance of getting connections to nearby phones.

I haven't had my scooter stolen yet but people who use the above tactics on stuff like gym bags can often get borderline realtime updates on their bag's whereabouts, which CAN be given to police as evidence of theft

So there's a lot of stuff on my list.. I mean TONS ... but

1The most wanted item I want is actually something I came across earlier today.

Bluetooth pet tag My cat Chloe, aka my meow meow has gotten out of the house twice now. I was devastated both times. I hate thinking about it. But she's my baby, and I can't lose her. Sure she has a chip, and 2 other tags but knowing that I can load up an app and try to find her just seems like a fantastic idea!

The first time she got out, she didn't come home for a couple of days. Every day after work I came home and called out her. "Meow meow, where's my meow meow"? Finally she meowed back. I was frantic. I traced her meow back to the chainlink fence line behind my apartment building. Of course I lived in the back of the complex with no easy access to go back there. I didn't want to take the time to go all the way around the complex and have her end up wandering off. To be fair it's a huge complex. I ran back in my apartment, and grabbed a pair of mini bolt cutters I had purchased for wire craft projects. I ran back outside and cut a hole in the fenceline. I got my baby back. Even my fiance was upset she was missing because he knows that's my baby.

The second time, she got out the patio door and I found her on the patio. I'm not sure why she didn't wander far, but I think it partly has to do with the fact that I cover her claws with vinyl caps and she couldn't climb the fence. I could be wrong, either way I'm thankful she didn't get far.

2 I definately gifted before
3 I really don't talk one on one to .. well pretty much anyone.. but if I had to choose someone, I'd say /u/BoiseState7 I tried to help him with a fish issue, and he seems nice :)

This is just an example of what's possible. I realize it only has a 100 foot radius, but a few cops on patrol could simply have the app on their phone to see if they pickup any hits where they shouldn't be or if more than 1 chip clusters in a certain area.

The police also probably have access to other, smaller technology for better prices than what I've linked to. But the idea is simply possible is all I'm saying.

u/niako · 1 pointr/CasualConversation

I have this one. It's a little more expensive than most of the other radio frequency ones out there, but this one sits flat and seemed like it would be the easiest to stick to a remote with a command strip.

u/super_not_clever · 1 pointr/SmartThings

I mean, there's still a SmartThings presence sensor, though my understanding is that battery life is somewhat limited.

There's also a SmartThings Tracker that is GPS based, but I've done basically no research into it.

Here's an idea. Get one of those door alarm thingy like this http://www.eureka4you.com/home/WirelessDoorWindow.jpg

And stick the big piece and little piece to the bed frame, like under bed, so you don't accidentally hit them. Big piece with buzzer stay glued to frame. Small piece also in position but you tie a very long like 10 yards fishing line to your leg and the small piece. If you're teleported away then the line will take the small piece and trip the annoying high pitch alarm and wake you up or scare them. The line has to be 10 yards so no matter how much you roll around in your sleep it wont completely wraparound your legs during sleep and you won't get it to accidentally move the little piece.

Or get this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KK8HPMM nfc padlock which has a proximity alarm so that if your luggage gets to far away from you the smartphone plays an alarm sound. You put your phone on the take 2 and the padlock on your wrist to imitate a watch (on the leg or waistband it might be visible to them). Then if you're moved a few feet away from your phone, the alarm rings. Also i think it tracks and stores hps location which you can layer review. I'm not sure but some other nfc padlock might.

Or get something like this gps tracker https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01HZ7GD92/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1497359030&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=gps+tracker&dpPl=1&dpID=514u0sqzqRL&ref=plSrch

It too has a distance alarm so if it goes to far from phone the phone rings.

There are also gps loggers like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01FJKAUGO/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1497359375&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=g+paws+pet+tracker&dpPl=1&dpID=51qt4uM5YAL&ref=plSrch

It will not sound alarm or anything but track gps location and store it over days. When you think there's something strange going on, you connect gps logger to pc and download the data from previous days and look where you were during sleep hours. If you suddenly jump from your house to some place a few yards away or miles or 6000 miles over the ocean then back within minutes then you'll have the world's first proof of alien abduction.

If you plan to play portable a lot make sure to get a tracker type device to attach to your carrying case. So many stories of people losing / getting their Switch stolen in public. I recommend

Cube Pro Key Finder Tracker 2X Volume and Range Replaceable Battery Phone Locator https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HFMZXR4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_mdECCb1AVW9CW

Since it has a replaceable battery and should last for more than a year unlike a tile. It just gives me peace of mind. I know it isn’t fool proof and I always keep my Switch next to me 100 % of the time, but you never know.

I got my folio case from Amazon UK, it is excellent quality and protects my Kindle when in my handbag.

Mine is the glitter purple version

Ha, I'm totally like your husband. I actually asked for a Bluetooth keyfinder for Christmas. Works great!

I've been thinking the same thing. I just got my BB also, but i was looking into some sort of tracking thing i can attach to the bottom of the board. I found a thing called Tile. It is apparently a Bluetooth tracker that can be located from your phone. Here is a amazon link.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B011HT921K/ref=twister_B01A0MTS3W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I don't actually know how good it is (sorry). It seems that it can be easily attached to the board with some double-sided tape. I hope i helped!
