That stone is gorgeous!

Give it some time, it might grow on you. I'm not much of a jewelry person, but my ring grew on me a lot. I planned to not really wear my engagement ring after I get the wedding band, so we purposefully bought a cheaper engagement ring. Now I'm pretty attached to it and I think my weird anxiety about wearing a big ring held me back from getting something fancier.

Turns out, once I was used to it on my hand, it doesn't get in the way too much. And I realized nobody cares. It also helps to get a necklace you can put it on, if you really need it out of the way. There's a few fancy ones on etsy, but I just got a spring clasp and put it on a regular chain.

If she doesn't mind replacing the old plastic clasp. She can remove thread over the looped part then resew it onto the new clasp.
Something like this or this may work.

I have two of these lobster claw clasps on my keychain, for my flash drive and my Victorinox Minichamp, so they can detach easily.

Clasps, hooks, lobster claws, etc. You can find them at JoAnn's and most fabric stores. Amazon has good deals on them too: https://amzn.com/B016QVTMF0

Not sure of a design, but one of these would make a nice closure.

You could try using magnetic clasps like these

LOL yeah, the addiction grew BIG time in the last year. I had them on my wishlist on Amazon and my hubby got them for me for xmas so I'm not entirely sure where they came from. It was something like this though. Then we installed a bar under a shelf I have hung up on the wall for them to hang. It's really convenient and less stiff than binder rings, especially if I want to look at two colors in the same family that aren't next to each other (like a light purple and dark purple). With the binder rings you'd have to remove one to compare to the other, with the ball chain you can just put them next to each without having to remove them.

I've done something similar in the past, although I just kind of handed them out to people instead of asking ahead of time, which seems like the much smarter idea.

Personally, I've found HP-4 to be the best weave for lanyards, since they lay flat. I've always used larger rings for them too (anywhere from 16g 5/16" to 14g 3/8"), and it goes a lot quicker. I can usually get one done in under two hours.

I seriously recommend shelling out a few buck for swivel lobster claps. They're way more reliable than bulldog claps, and its easier to put badges on.

If you happen to get overwhelmed with orders, let me know. I have some extra supplies and a little bit of free time. I can make a few of them if you need me to.

Here's a few that I put together a few years back (I was handing the blue and orange ones out at PAX Prime).

Peaches N Creme isn't that popular. I think Wal Mart carries it, but AC Moore seems to be ridding themselves of their stock. I've never done knitpicks - I'd love to, but I know if I start I'm going to get hooked and we'll be broke in no time. It's easier to practice self control when you're shopping in person.

I haven't been to /r/crossstitch in ages and ages - and I just realized it's because I'm not subscribed on this account :o I will have to remedy that posthaste.

Knitting took a few tries to click, but using the knitting help videos for continental method was what did it for me. And once I got the purl/knit stitches down, the rest of it isn't as complex. I'm definitely still learning, though - I wouldn't be comfortable sending a knitted gift to my giftee at this point.

Re: buttons - thanks! I used magnetic closures, like these. I really really really wanted it to look okay like that but it just didn't, so I did a basic magic circle with I want to say 12 hdc? Don't recall exactly, I just eyeballed it.

It's called a "lobster clasp". To find a large heavy duty one for your needs you may to look for something like a pet leash. This may work

Good point, but some type of keychain quick release would be an easy fix.

Your jewelry is awesome.

I have had my eye on these lobster clasps because I like making jewelry out of wire, beads, and string, and lobster clasps are really just the way to go.
