Best jewelry making chains according to redditors

It’s a really overpriced MLM. I think the oysters are $18 a piece, and you just get whatever color cultured pearl comes in the one they open, or you can trade it for a color of the host’s choosing. You then pay for a setting (that the host chooses, you don’t get to pick what the shape of your necklace will be) and the host sends it to you embedded in a bath bomb for some unknown reason, and IIRC the completed necklace with pearl costs around $45-50. I wondered why you couldn’t choose the necklace... until i found all products used to supply the MLM scam on amazon for next to nothing. The necklace packs they buy come with 10 assorted pendants, so the MLMer only has one of each style, so they just use whatever they have until they run out.

You can buy 10 oysters, jewelry settings, and 24 chains for under $50 on amazon. I mentioned this before on another pearl post, but it’s my new goal to ruin these stupid predatory MLMs and expose that their products are mass marketed crap that they use as a ruse to run pyramid schemes, so paste these links in a reply to their spam:

I've done both. Here's what I use for chains:

1. Crimps with loops. These go on either end of the chain.
   
   
   
2. Chain. These come in different patterns and widths, so make sure you get the right ones. The width of the crimps needs to be appropriate for the chain.
   
   
   
3. Clasps. There are tons to choose from. Lobster is the most common for chains, but there's also toggle, barrel, magnetic, etc. Just google around until you find what you want.
   
   
   
4. Jump rings, if needed. These might be needed to attach the clasp to the crimps and also to attach your pendants/charms to the chain. Things to note are diameter, thickness, and open vs. closed. Closed is best for hanging onto the chain since there's no gap for the chain to slip through, but closed won't allow you to attach to the pendant unless you're using an open one to go from the pendant to the closed one.
   
   
   
5. Crimper. This is the one I have, but you'll need to make sure whatever you get is the right size for the crimps you're using.
   
   
   
6. Any sort of wire cutter to cut the chain. Scissors don't cut metal. And needle nose pliers to bend the jump rings into place.
   
   
   You're better off getting all these things online. Cheaper and more variety. The links are only examples. Make sure you get what you want!

and wrapped it around, tacking it with superglue. I had spray primed it before hand. You can leave it metal, but I found it matched better if you painted it just like everything else.

So the chains were recommended to me by one of the GW guys at my local store. He suggested cut offs from jewelry stores. Sometimes when they cut the chain down they keep it and you can ask for some of it.

That said, I'm massively awkward so just took the idea and bought some off Amazon. 1.5mm stainless steel chain. Only problem is, it's so cheap they sell it in 33ft batches, so I'll likely have tonnes left.

Just washed it with Nuln Oil before supergluing it on (when dry) to make it less shiny.

Also, for the armour panels I drybrush to get a smoother finish (in my experience). Big drybrush with whatever basecoat you go with. And the best thing to do is contrast the trim and the panels.
