I live in these.

They have 3pks and 5pks and multiple designs/colors available in each. I have the ones linked but I also saw listings for brief and hipster cuts if that's what you prefer. The bikini type ones that I bought have plenty of thigh room and the butt part doesn't ride up or bunch down which is glorious. The front sits right under my bump very comfortably.

I actually had a semi meltdown earlier this week because my dog pulled TWO PAIRS of these out of our laundry hamper and destroyed them. So I'm down to 3 pairs and at 36+3 I can't justify buying more. Looks like I'll be doing laundry twice as often because these are the only comfy panties I have!!

Bought legit pregnancy underwear thinking, what could the difference possibly be? These might be my new permanent underwear. Intimate Portal Women Under the Bump Maternity Panties Pregnancy Underwear 5-pk Lace Multicolor Medium

They don't cut across my bump or make my legs feel strangled. Big win :)

Amazon has amaaaaazing maternity undies and totally affordable! I think it was $20 for 4. They're low for under the bump but nice n high at the bum. I didn't like granny panties as my bump got bigger because they weren't high enough to go all the way over my bump and ended up rolling down which was very uncomfortable. I'll see if I can find the link..
Here it is

V front undies like these may be good. I’ve never gone through it, but I am a L&D/postpartum nurse and have experience caring for patients after a surgery like this.

Make sure to get ones that are fuller coverage like these hipsters. Make sure they are not tight, if you are between sizes. Order larger.

As far as clothing, my patients generally wear loose shift dresses if not hospital gowns. Any type of pants are going to put pressure on the incision and it’s going to be pretty tender.

What she's probably overlooked (I give this advice to every soon to be new mom and they always thank me for it) is a Perineal bottle, mesh panties and maternity pads.

And possibly some perineal ice packs.

I love my maternity undies! All my favorite regular pairs were starting to get old and ratty, so I jumped on buying new ones. I got these in a large Intimate Portal Women Under the Bump Maternity Panties Pregnancy Underwear 5-pk Lace Multicolor Large https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J2XYZOW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_t4IDw9wGmeo8o. I'm generally a medium, but I know my hips will spread, so I wanted some room to grow on. They fit and have space. I also got these Uniwit 4 PK Cotton Maternity Pregnant Mother Panties Briefs, Red / Rose Red / Gray / Champagne Gold, XL / US M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KFTZDTI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_NHDuAaEd4YiSH which are super comfy. I need every bit of that XL, so skip these if you're bootylicious. Here is my fave sleep bra for good measure. I'm rocking a 32 H or a 32 EE (why does pregnancy bring me porn star tits when all I want to do is sleep and vomit?) depending on sizing system so it's really hard to find anything that fits. My baby is due this week so I'm not speaking from experience, but everything I have heard says wait on the nursing bras. You won't know how big you're going to get until your milk comes in. I've already gone up from an A to a C, but I know when my milk comes in I will probably go up another cup size. I went out and bought three different bras in different sizes to have when I come home from the hospital (who wants to go bra shopping with a week old?). After the baby is a few weeks old and I know my size I will go out and get more.

As far as maternity bras, depending on your size and needed level of support, I would get something soft and stretchy that can grow with you - again, how big the ladies will get is up in the air. I did like these underwear. They run really small, so buy up.

I'm sure there are a ton of other things you will need from Amazon. How about maternity clothes? Burt's Bees Belly Butter? Boppy wedge pillow for sleeping (life saving!)

I got these ones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N2SFBW0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_LNfUzb5R7NJHK
and I absolutely love them! They have a tiny flat drawstring at the top so you can cinch them around your belly if you want. It's not something that they even advertise but it's helpful for the days you don't stick out as far.

If you're doing protein shakes anyhow this stuff is super convenient because it's your prenatal and protein together. The Vega chocolate protein powder from Costco is great also if you have a prenatal you like. I have a nutri ninja and it's amazing. I practically lived off smoothies the first 10 weeks or so when nausea was worse.

As for maternity underwear I got these and I LOVE them. They're super comfortable and work perfectly as an under the bump style. I got them before I really needed a style to accommodate my bump but since I'd gained some weight it was time to size up for comfort. They worked fine before I had much of a bump and they're by far my favorite underwear now that I have a pretty large bump. I also appreciate how they don't really feel different than regular underwear. Like over the bump styles leave me feeling very matronly and they're a bit more hot and such. The under the bump style just feels like I'm wearing regular bikini underwear that happen to fit better.

I bought some super low c-section undies too -- I found mixing it up between the super low and the ones suggested above was key. Here's a link https://www.amazon.com/Intimate-Portal-Maternity-Pregnancy-Underwear/dp/B01ETCZN9M/ref=sr_1_25?ie=UTF8&qid=1494178027&sr=8-25&keywords=c+section+underwear

I recommend you bring a dress to wear home, and maybe have a few ready at home (the shorts and pants put pressure on my incision). Take the hospital underwear, but consider purchasing some, too (I bought these and wore them up to 2 weeks after). The hospital let me take their extra long napkins (yes, you'll still bleed like anyone else), and then I switched to regular pads once the flow lessened.

Keep up with the pain meds, stay ahead of the pain. I took the pain meds up to 2 weeks pp before I felt confident I didn't need them.

DRINK WATER! LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER! Always be drinking water in the hospital.

Be prepared for help on pulling up your underwear.

Peeing after will be weird as you gain control back after the spinal - the nurses told me blowing bubbles through my drink's straw would help, and it did!! I was totally fine peeing after a day.

Get everything ready at home before you go in. Getting in and out of chairs will be tough for a while. I used a step stool to get in and out of my bed at home.

What else can I think of that may not be obvious... My husband bought me a nice robe to wear in the hospital instead of the dumb hospital gown. That was nice, not necessarily c-section related.

It doesn't hurt to remove the staples (that may be common knowledge, I had no idea).

I posted my birth story here if you want to read about it.

Good luck!!! =]

I was good until right at the beginning of third tri with bigger boy shirt undies, but I invested in two packs of under-the-bump maternity undies and they have been SO worth it.

I got two five-packs of these: https://www.amazon.com/Intimate-Portal-Womens-Maternity-Panties/dp/B00FIOGHFU they're really good quality and fit nicely. Have a chuckle at the brand name. (FYI, they do run small...size up. I tend to be a small/medium and ordered a large. They fit great in that size.)

These underwear are a bit pricey but really helps my bump look more like a bump.

u/heartsandthoughts · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

These are what I was referring to. I'll have to try the granny panties first before I spend a lot! Thanks!
