I use an IV pole - you can wheel it around the shop, change from left to right side of the bench, etc. This particular one is hospital grade - really built to last. If you want more stability (I haven't found it necessary) put a barbell weight at the bottom of the pole. You can even hang two motors on it. TYou might find one even cheaper at a medical surplus house, or even estate sales.
