Cassette players are still being made in 2019

I don't think finding players will be an issue. Samsung stopping means the other brands will now sell more for a while. Yes, the market is shrinking, there's no denying that. But, just like with cds & vinyl, the market will continue after it has "died" to the public for collectors. The reality is most future releases will either be limited to dvds, limited number of copies, or companies will just plain charge more.

It's likely only the "big" releases will get blurays too. (Aka blockbusters & other high budget films)

But it's not dead now, nor will it be dead soon if we keep buying blurays. Imo the worse mentality that one can have right now is switching to digital because of fear of the market dying. We are the market, and studios are smart enough to do what will make them money.

Or you could get one of these and use a mp3 player.

Essentially cassette tapes contain magnetically stored information that a tape head reads as the tape is passed over it. The cassette tape adapters which plug into CD players don't have a spinning tape, but it instead has a device that passes the audio information to the tape head reader in the car stereo as magnetic information. You may say there is a magnetic generator in the tape that tricks the tape head that there is a tape being read.

For those who may had difficulty understanding what you meant, it took me a few reads at least, this is the kind of tape he's referring to: https://www.amazon.com/Stereo-Cassette-Adapter-Headphone-Converter/dp/B07G8WWF9C

Do you have a tape deck? Get one of these!

I use a Sony CMT EP505 for home use. You can probably by one off ebay for <$50, great quality playback.

As for portable, pretty much anything goes. you can buy this for $20 off ebay (I believe it was half that when I was looking for one in europe)

If you want the highest quality, you go for nakamichi but I wouldn't suggest that for someone starting out unless you luck upon one in a thrift store.

This is what I use for my portable. I found it for $2, newly made, but pretty solid build quality. 4 channel Head design, so it'll auto-reverse (essentially flipping the tape for you.)

Definitely not up to par with older decks, but one of the better newer/affordable options out there. Also has a USB port for easy digital conversion if that's all you're working with.

Something like this would probably work better than an FM transmitter imo.

I'd recommend one of these if you have an "aux" port on your stereo (which usually just looks like a headphone port). I have seen stereos in the past where the aux port is a set of RCA jacks on the back of the stereo. They might be harder to get to, and require removal of the head unit to get to, but one of these cables connected to them and routed to somewhere convenient would be good. If you don't have any aux port at all, does it have a tape deck? Then you can use a tape deck adapter

I have a 2001 C240 and I use a bluetooth cassette player. I like having my car look OEM, so if you're going that route I would choose this. I bought mine here.

It's just a blank cassette tape with a 3.5 mm cord stuck into it, I had mine in my van because I didn't have a CD player or an aux cord. They're $8 on Amazon, and they're pretty handy if you only have a cassette player. The player in my stereo is pretty bad though haha I just use it when I don't want to wear my headphones.

It is good. But thinking of the last millenium.

While this will be a good step, for the time when we have both (2 dimensional and 3 dimensional) experiences besides each other. An interlink between the ages of information technology.

When we utilize the possibilities of VR and even more AR to its full potential. This will be outdated.

We should see this as a link to the past not to the future.
Because what the Gamedevelopers for the vive do learn is, that Buttons, Menues, Text, Information doesn't have to be 2 dimensional.

The future web doesn't have to be information presented on a 2 dimensional rectangle, thats just what it was for the time till now. Don't let your creativity be blocked by old experiences or thinking of how the world should be, only because it was like that till now.

We need:
a 3D webbrowser, 3D webcontent, 3D webpages/-rooms, 3D experiences, 3D movies,....

Look at VRChat, maybe thats the web of the future.
Start a 3D websearch and a 3D webcontent displayer today, and maybe you will be the google and chrome of the future.

the thought of sharing content in VR though is good, the Big Screen for viewing "old content" is good, but please let's dont limit ourselfs to to only that.

it is something like this:
