I have a Hori silicon cover and bought some Xbox One thumbsticks off ebay, cut the thumbstick tops off them and glued them to the top of some Bluecell thumbstick covers. The Xbox Thumbstick glued to the Bluecell one will look like this. You're going to want to dremel out a little under the XB1 thumbstick so the plastic Bluecell cover fits more flush in there and doesn't make the joysticks on the vita too tall because otherwise it'll interfere with the d-pad and buttons. Once you're done you snap the new covers on top of the Vita's joysticks and you're done! The end result looks like this.

The total "mod" took me about 15 minutes.

Not all the Ps1 classics are compatible, but a large amount of them are. Most will be available to download through your Vita after logging into your account, or you can go straight to the download list in the Vita store and get them from there. Keep in mind that some, but not many, PS1 games can only be transferred to the Vita via PS3, so you may want to hold onto your PS3 at least to do that.

Journey is not playable on the Vita. If you go to this link and search the game, it should let you know if it's playable on the Vita. So far it is limited to some PS1 and PSP games, and Vita games (obviously). Right now the only way to play games from other systems are either through the PS Now service which is now on beta on the Vita, or Remote Play through PS4.

If you have Playstation Plus, which you should because for only $50 a year you get free Vita, PS3, and PS4 games every month, you will probably need a bigger memory card than 16gb. You may not if you plan on getting mostly physical game cartridges. Keep in mind that even if you buy the FFX/2 cartridge, it only comes with X on the cartridge and gives you a download code for X-2.

If I were you I'd go ahead and get a 32gb memory card, or possibly import a 64gb from either amazon or superufo. You have to import the 64gb because it is only available in Asia. Luckily, the Vita and it's games/accessories are not region locked, meaning you can use any country's Vita to play any country's games and memory cards.

The only other thing I'd recommend is the Hori Screen Protector. It's absolutely the best screen protector I've used. It's not expensive and applies easily with 0 bubbles, you won't even know it's there.

That's all I have off the top of my head, if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

No, that was just my own screen protector

u/Riathy · 3 pointsr/vita

Buy a grip and screen protector! They aren't that expensive and it'll help with relaxation (grip) and protects your screen!

All of the 20xx series are the same console but differend bundles/markets, the original Vita is 10xx (OLED) and the Slim is 20xx (LCD). I recommend the HORI screen protectors.

u/wordsmyth360 · 2 pointsr/vita

I got 2 of these a few days ago...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00J00BLRM/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1398579637&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

Though I'm imported mine from yesasia.com, they're essentially the same thing. Hori makes top notch screen protectors. (Used em for my 3DS XL and Wii U gamepad) They're very easy to install as well.

u/LaunchpadMacQ · 2 pointsr/vita

Case as in a carrying case or a cover?

I own a Hori hard case (P4G one), Hori clamshell (P4G one), and Hori silicon case. All Hori products are excellent. xD

u/Stormcrow426 · 2 pointsr/vita

I use three things to protect my Vita: a case, screen protector, and silicone protector

u/holysocks · 2 pointsr/vita

i got these. They're all basic, cheap, does the job - protector, case, earphones

u/rdjarvis · 2 pointsr/vita

This is the exact one I ordered for my Vitas. It’s a 2-pack. It also comes with 2 films for the rear of the device, but the rear films unlike the front are not tempered glass.

The Hori Skin looks very snug. Only downside is coverage of the PS button. I can fix that myself, though.

Geez that's pretty rough, I'd definitely recommend using a screen protector. I have a few very tiny scratches that bother the hell out of me and they at least became less noticeable after I put on a screen protector. Here's the brand I used. I can personally vouch for its quality, but be sure you thoroughly clean your screen beforehand and be gentle as possible.

As far as actually getting rid of them goes, most methods are a bit risky if you don't know what you're doing. Apparently you can sand them out gently with the right grit sandpaper but I don't know enough about that to know if it'd be good to try at home.

u/Fluffy_Waffles · 2 pointsr/vita

IMO any case that is going to be used to protect the vita from drops and such is going to be a bit thicker than a case made to prevent scratches. If you want just a hard case I would check out this amazon case. What I would suggest doing tho is getting a carrying case like this and buying a rubber cover or a nice personalized skin. And of corse always use a screen protector.

u/xenetic · 2 pointsr/vita

I use a combination of a protective film and hori face cover. Doesn't add a lot of bulk compared to the hard cases but still reasonably protects the system IMO.

u/diversionmary · 2 pointsr/vita

So far I bought:

PDP trigger grips

An adapter so I can char be via any USB charger

Sony screen protective film

Kinda ridiculous that they purposely disabled the ability to charge via any USB charger.

u/noradninja · 1 pointr/vitahacks

Sure, I got this kit:

4 piece screen protector

The rear protectors are plastic, the front is tempered glass.

u/nerdism · 1 pointr/vita

You mean this one? http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Vita-Protective-Film-Two-Pack/dp/B006PP404Q

is thrown off by the 'infamous' screenshot

u/bilbravo · 1 pointr/vita

I have the hori screen protector. I really like it and it covers the entire face, minus the areas where there are speaker holes.

I have the padded Sony case (official?) and I like it.

u/BansheeTK · 1 pointr/vita

Glad to make you laugh, was the intent lol.

I'll give you a list of accessories i have for the PS Vita that in my experience have been greatly satisfactory.

[dreamGear Comfort Grip]

Hori Screen Protector

PS Vita in Ear headset Sony

64 GB Memory Card

Amazon Basics PS Vita Armored Case

From my experience, Hori and dreamGear are really good products.

i read that the pdp trigger grip was a flawed accessory and got alot of negative reviews regarding the triggers not work half the time. So i'd avoid it till pdp comes out with a better design or you find something better.

u/massiveCan · 1 pointr/vita

Congrats on your new purchase, I got something similar to what /u/SupaBloo recommended:

u/qwert234 · 1 pointr/vita

[Get this one.] (http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B006PP404Q/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=485327511&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B006VE40JQ&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_r=08Z50RB1190BV5JKV8HD)

It's the official screen protector and comes with two of them incase you mess up on the application, although it's really easy to put on anyway.
It keeps the scratches off nicely and doesn't degrade the screen or brightness in anyway.

u/xEternalSapphire · 1 pointr/vita

I bought one of these and applied it on top of my decalgirl skin and it works perfectly fine. I've had no problems with it at all.

u/googlematt · 1 pointr/vita

I got one of these and it makes those buttons raised just enough to make a difference

That's the Hori silicon case he was talking about.

I got this one from Target a few years back, and I can vouch for it. It doesn't add much bulk, and doesn't obscure the buttons at all, but finding one might be a little bit of a task (though I still see them at various Target/Gamestop locations). I haven't dropped my Vita more than a foot or two with it on, so I can't speak to how well it would absorb a shock, but it did protect it from scratches.
