I put these behind the rear speakers on my Sidekick. It's wet in there, that was last year and 8000 miles ago. Zero problems. I'll be doing it again on the Miata.

WOuld need a multimeter to test if the speaker is damaged. Test here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpdKpnz8h64

Using a 9Volt as well, thats an easy way.

If you did end up needing new speakers install a baffle behind it to keep the water out of it: http://www.amazon.com/050320-Boom-Round-Speaker-Baffle/dp/B0039Z3SPW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1453088559&sr=8-4&keywords=speaker+baffles

I always just used helmet speakers like this when I used to ride. I never liked the idea of using IEMs as I didn't want to isolate so much noise that it made me less aware of surrounding vehicles. I found the helmet speakers ran a nice balance of letting you listen to music, but not distract attention from focusing on riding.

I use helmet speakers and SureFire EP4 earplugs. Can't wear headphones in both ears in CA, so I opted for speakers.

Sound quality is pretty good, but obviously not as good as headphones. I'm satisfied with it though, it allows me to hear everything around me as long as the plugs are out.

I use them in a rf-1200 and they fit perfectly.

Helmet Audio - where are all the options?

I've been snowboarding for 25 years, but finally picked up a helmet this year now that we're introducing our young kids to snowboarding. So after getting my helmet I started looking to see what was available for wireless (bluetooth) setups. I was expecting more options than what's out there.

The Outdoor Tech Chips 2.0 seem to be exactly what I'd like, but are more expensive than I expected. Other companies seem to just re-brand this item. There are a few wired options out there that then use a bluetooth adapter. And finally, there's many items intended for the motorcycle crowd, Sena, that is even more expensive and seems like overkill for a snowboarding setup.

What is everyone using? Sticking it out with Earbuds? I was hoping for an open ear setup so that I can hear those around me, but still have some tunes.

Yeah, tear those things out... they're awful.
I got the earbuds Uclear sells. Here's a link to what I'm talking about. https://www.amazon.com/UCLEAR-Digital-Earbuds-Bluetooth-Systems/dp/B00GI219D6

Looks like a standard Sena headset. I’m sure your friend will give you a deal, 1/2 off or better. Amazon has it for $233. www.amazon.com/dp/B00L15WWCW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_SImvDbNSA71DZ

I had these on my 10C and they were a great upgrade

I have since then switched to the 20S and those speakers are a lot better, I haven't felt the need to try it with the upgraded speakers yet. If you are interested in buying them let me know, I think I still have all the packaging and everything.

Just got these new headphones off Amazon:

Only problem though is my helmet (RF-1200) rips them right out when I put my helmet on. Even without having the headphones on, it folds my ear over and I have to fix my ears manually.

I say all that because it seems like I won't be able to use headphones at all.

Any recommendations on how I can get some tunes in my ears while I'm out riding? Currently looking into some helmet speakers like these:

Its actually black, but yes they're just el cheapo boss handlebar speakers that I found in Walmart. They have a built in amp and bluetooth. They're decent for being 60-70$ but definitely don't hear them at highway speed where they're located, I just didn't have room on the bars for them.
