I have an IUD and an active sex life and anxiety. I bought a box of 25 pregnancy tests (just point of care dipsticks, not like ClearBlues) on Amazon because even though the IUD is 99% effective it also makes me a bit irregular and sometimes my brain convinces me I'm pregnant. It was an absolute godsend and I recommend it to everyone because you really don't worry about "sucking it up and buying a pregnancy test," you just pee on the little strip and find out and feel better. I bought these: Pregnancy Test Strips for Early Detection, Fertility Test Kit, 25 HCG Tests, Powered by Premom Ovulation Predictor iOS and Android APP, New Version- EZW1-S-25 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PFTJRGC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AVcIDb6G45QJ9

And I have never regretted it.

Do you live in the US? if you do.... BAM! cheap tests!

What's more disturbing are the reviews for them.

The product on the Dollar Tree website is here. The words "preggers" or "preggo" are used pretty extensively. There's also one review I like a lot where the woman uploads a picture of the product stating that the test was positive and that, "The test was taken sometime in Jan or Feb, I believe."

As for Amazon, the product can be found here. $4.08 with Prime 2-day shipping. One reviewer points out that Big Lots sells them as well.

Anyway, I'm off to buy one. My girlfriend is late and I'm a cheap asshole.

If you go to /r/TFABLinePorn sometimes the title will tell you the brand.

The most common strips I know of are the Wondfo, Clinical Guard and Easy@home.
They are mostly used due to how cheap they are compared with the First Response and other big brands.

For example, on Amazon: [wondfo] (https://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Pregnancy-Strips-25-count-medical/dp/B0002YIQEQ) vs FRER

I picked up a pregnancy test that promises to give very early results, I would give that a try to help ease your mind, if its been a few weeks already youmight get a result: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000B11WE?aaxitk=XYbb1jTpSR0M1VRHA0onOA

First off, amenorrhea sucks and when you're TTC, it makes things way more difficult. if you haven't yet, push to see an RE (reproductive endo) - even if you haven't been trying for long, there's obviously something up and they're the best equipped to help you both figure out what's going on and deal with it.

Second, if you want to do the at home monitoring I highly recommend grabbing a pack of 100 wondfos off amazon (like these: https://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Combo-Ovulation-Pregnancy-Strips/dp/B00RYB8M58/ref=sr_1_14_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1483923627&sr=1-14&keywords=wondfo). That way ,you can use 1-2 a day depending on your CM and not spend $$$$ on fancy sticks. This along with a mabis BBT kept me sane!

Good luck!

It wouldn’t be the first time that taking a cycle off ended up working!

I ended up buying some Wondfo bulk tests off of amazon for super cheap. (https://www.amazon.com/Wondfo-Pregnancy-Urine-Strips-Tests/dp/B07CZ5887G). Then I didn’t feel bad about taking them early. They are pretty sensitive too.

I don't stress about pregnancy, as I have the copper IUD, and I can tell exactly when my period is coming thanks to the horrible cramps I get 2 days beforehand -___-

But seriously, go on amazon and buy some bulk pregnancy tests, the paper strip ones. The ones they sell in CVS and such are the same exact thing except they have a big plastic holder around the strip and cost about 40x more. Here is a box of 100 test strips for $20. Carry some with you in case you get nervous and need reassurance right away. Hopefully being able to test whenever you want will ease your anxiety some.

Also, what other people said: save up as much as you can in case you need an abortion (or really for any sort of unexpected expense).

I have that one and it's perfect for me. Cheap, great quantity and doing its job. i'm having clear enough stripe to see that i'm ovulating.

Aaaactually, disregard my previous comment.

Here's your Amazon.ca link

First off, sorry for your loss.

Secondly, I'm only 36, I don't have any experience to give in the area of TTC at 40<.

As far as tests tho... I personally wouldn't bother with the expensive digital ones. I buy ones online. After lots of testing, I now pretty much know when I should be peaking but I'll test 2-3 times a day days preceding my peak and then only once a day after I've confirmed my peak. (I've read that most women have an LH surge at like 10am, mine's usually a bit later in the day than that.)

I also suggest "Sure Predict" pregnancy tests. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GUSCNZG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They test at 10miu of HCG. First Results Early Response (FRER) is 6.5miu but really you're not getting results MUCH sooner and Sure Predict are much, much cheaper. The digital tests are usually around 25miu so you have to have been pregnant longer. I've gotten positive pregnancy tests up to 3 days prior to my period with Sure Predict. While I understand why some people would recommend not testing until after a missed period, I personally have low progesterone and should be taking it BEFORE I miss my period if I'm pregnant.

You said your wife never reached "peak" LH on the fertility monitors... is your OB confirming ovulation with a blood test? Is it possible your wife isn't ovulating? I know I had regular periods but was actually anovulatory, meaning I wasn't ovulating. However Clomid (or later Femara, which is better IMO) fixed that right up.

I know my doctor was not too positive about TTC at 36... mentioned that if I went the IVF route they'd probably want me to use donor eggs (which sort of defeats the purpose for me). I'm trying to stay positive tho. You should too!

Best of luck!

You're not stupid; you are excited and hopeful!

I tested negative on day 11 DPO, but I tested positive on day 13! It is different for everybody.

You can buy pregnancy tests and ovulation kits in bulk on the internet. No guilt testing! I used the dollar store, which worked fine for me. But had it taken us much longer, I would have invested online.

Not saying your mentality is wrong, but things that are in the dollar store must comply to all required regulations that brand name products also have to stand up to. Just because they're in a dollar store doesn't mean they're defective in any way. They could be in the store because the lot used a wrong color in the packaging or because there was a typo on the info sheet inside or the printer leaked and put drops of ink in the upper left quadrant of the box. Condoms, for example, must still pass the rigorous testing that trojan or magnum or durex needs to pass. The pregnancy tests have to meet the same standards.

Not to mention that clinics like planned parenthood or women's health clinics literally spend pennies on pregnancy tests since they purchase them in bulk, from the same company that distributes brand name and dollar store tests.

Peace of mind is a powerful thing, but the nitty gritty reality is, that dollar store test is manufactured by the same people who make First Response or Clearblue... they've been purchased by the same company, just use a different name.

ETA: Example off of Amazon... 25 tests that you'll find at the dollar store (sans plastic casing) for 13.50 (with prime), that evens out to just over 50 cents a test. Big money =/= better product.

Nope, sorry. Generally, the best way to tell is if you haven't gotten your period when expected. But you can't mistake implantation bleeding for your period (many women experience light bleeding when the egg sticks to the uterine wall). If you haven't been keeping track of your period, you'll just have a bit longer to wait to find out, but you'll know within a month. If you get light periods anyways, the best way to know for sure is to get a blood test from your doctor.

Just watch a few episodes of "I didn't know I was pregnant" and you'll see that many women did take a pregnancy test, if not several, that showed a negative result. Also check the reviews of the digital tests on Amazon; not great.

I'm going with an island baby when we go to Hawaii. I'll try not to be 3rd wheel too much ;) But seriously, you're my dates. Also, I bought my tests on Amazon. Linky

Edit: Here's 20ct in case 100 is a little obsessive :)

I assume you aren't in the US. I don't know for sure in other countries, but you should be able to find cheap ones online. I found these on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Ecloud-ShopUS®-Early-Pregnancy-Accuracy/dp/B0154LQPN0/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1479666373&sr=1-4&keywords=pregnancy+test

If you can't get a test, there's no way of knowing for sure whether or not you're pregnant.

u/maowmeowmaow · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

I've used clearblue before (link: http://www.amazon.com/Clearblue-Plus-Pregnancy-Test-Count/dp/B000NDS2CC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1383003511&sr=8-7&keywords=pregnancy+test) and it said I wasn't pregnant which I wasn't so I guess it worked. Don't know how reliable it is though.

First response has better ratings on amazon though. (link: http://www.amazon.com/First-Response-Result-Pregnancy-Packaging/dp/B000052XHI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383003511&sr=8-1&keywords=pregnancy+test)

Hope this helps a little! Both of those come with multiple tests, best to use first morning pee. I'm sure there are more reviews online if you want to do more research but tests seem to work pretty much the same.
