A Rifle umbrella
One of the reviews for it is very funny
>Let me start of by saying I love the umbrella. It's really authentic-looking and protects me from the rain. The problem is carrying it in public. One day, I took it to work with me. I'm kind of a loner who pops antidepressants.
Anyway, I took it to work with me. About 30 minutes into work, I'm in the bathroom taking a massive dump, when suddenly all these alarms start to go off and the bathroom goes dark. I wanted to get out with my umbrella, but I was still defecating, so I couldn't get up.
Anyway, I wait on the toilet for about five minutes. Just as I finish up and am about to wipe my butt hole, the bathroom door crashes in. I hear a bunch of really loud foot steps outside of my stall. Is whatever going in happening in here? I think.
So anyway, the foot steps crowd in an arc around my stall. What's going on here? I think. I hear someone count to three quietly. Then my stall door crashes in and there are assault rifles with flashlights pointed at me. I put my hands out in protest of the light. "Put down the gun," a commanding voice tells me. "Step out of the stall with your hands behind your head."
"Let me at least wipe my a**," I plead.
"Put down the weapon," the commanding voice responds.
"What weapon?"
"This is your final warning. Drop the weapon and step out of the stall with your hands behind your head."
"Hold on." I fumble around looking for the toilet paper and my hand accidentally grabs the umbrella. At that moment, I start hearing loud noises, gun shots, coming from where the men with guns are standing. Then I start feeling this unbelievable pain all over my chest. It's like someone lit a chemical fire inside of me in 30 different places. Then I pass out.
When I wake up, I'm in a hospital. Nobody can believe I'm alive. I was in a coma for 2 months after being shot 32 times at close range.
Anyway, the point of this story is that it's a nice umbrella, but it may get you put in a coma if you're not careful.

I live in a swamp city, DC. Very muggy and warm during the summer.

Most women here either carry their work shoes in their bag or leave them under their desk at work (that is what I do) and wear light walking shoes that are very breathable.

Put on deodorant before going to venture to my public trans stop.

I also am one of those weirdos that have a sun umbrella for the summer. There are ones on ebay from japan that are super cute. There is nothing worse than being in work clothes and the sun beating down on you. This keeps me less sweaty and slightly cooler.

I also keep a cute folding fan in my bag for summer because I have waited at metro stations when the AC is busted. It is awful.

Chiming in as a Desert Search And Rescue volunteer, I find these umbrellas EXTREMELY useful. I started carrying a umbrella as part of my search and rescue pack earlier this year, responding to calls in temps of 100 - 110 F, and I'm using it ALL of the time. I use them both for my patients, and as well for other rescuers or bystanders who are well enough to keep hiking but need to keep out of the sun for a while.

After carrying several throughout the last year, I've finally settled on the following one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003H1HXN6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's compact, it allows air to flow through it so a sudden gust won't destroy it, and it's relatively durable.

I found your Umbrella umbrella.

Spoilers: >!It's over fucking $350.!<

This is the one I got. It's 89 grams (3.14oz), 21cm length (8.26"), 4cm (1.57") diameter when closed. I haven't tested it in the rain yet, but it does seem like it will hold up well.

Pros:

  • Smallest, lightest umbrella I've ever found.

  • Comes with a sturdy hard case that you could use for something? It's too heavy for me to include in my bag, though.

    Neutral:

  • It's a little short when open (~46cm / 18.1" total height), but it opens quite wide (~85cm / 33.46" width).

    Cons:

  • A little pricey.

  • It also takes a small effort to fold the carbon fiber spines (?) into place - they fold in half when not in use.

    ---------------

My old umbrella was like 260g, not worth carrying for the use/weight ratio imo. This one is just slightly larger than the size/weight of a pair of boxers (67g). Maybe I'll review this once I use it in the rain a few times, but so far I'm happy to have this as a just in case.

I'm seeking sun umbrella recommendations. I had one on eBay I had been eyeing, but someone else pointed me towards this Van Gogh one with the reflective insides. The reviews don't have me convinced that I'll love it^plus ^I ^^think ^^it's ^^^ugly.

Does anyone else have any sun umbrella recommendations? I do have a bit of preference for eBay since it lets me use PayPal Credit.

I have this UV umbrella -- it's (somewhat) compact and works really well but honestly I find it a pain to not have both hands free. If I'm going to be out all day, I usually wear this hat (although I cut off the bow because I thought it was dumb) and/or UV cut clothes from uniqlo.

This is the popular one that a lot of gear manufacturers resell

I have one of these: Unbreakable Self Defense Umbrella. Even if you're not interested in the the self defense function, the quality of components is extremely high; expect it to last a long time. I also have a Gustbuster, and this one is much more sturdy.

Same question I had for OP. 3 oz Montbell is $52, and has been reviewed well (here's one review for example).

My curiosity led me to wonder if any other 3oz umbreallas were on the market, only one that I found in a few seconds of looking was the A.Brolly on Amazon. Might be worth a look /u/cascadegreen, only $30 if you wanted less of an investment.

For the record I have never tried either of these, but have thought about it recently since it friggin rains here all the time!

I received this red panda umbrella from a previous contest for my daughter. So, it is smaller and kid-sized but possibly one of the cutest things ever :-)

u/Natural_Law · 2 pointsr/Ultralight

I have a Liteflex Swing, non telescoping umbrella that I really love. My wife has the telescoping model which is not as strong. It's been great in rain, snow, and marble size hail. I'd also look at Montbell umbrellas if I were buying again now.

I have the GG Vapor Trail that I bought in 2005, which was replaced by the Crown VC. I would DEFINITELY keep this pack near the top of my list if I was buying another pack. Super light and comfortable.

Look at these sloth socks!

This coin purse is so adorable!

So is this umbrella!

And this necklace!

I would love a full color drawing!

Aww yiss, black cats! I have tons of cat things in my wishlist but I think the "Yours, Mine, and Noir's" duvet cover (on my primary "Need = Want" wishlist) totally fills the bill with black cats GALORE! It's from ModCloth, not Amazon directly, but it's been on my Amazon wishlist for a while now!

On my "Want → Wear" wishlist, I have the Romwe Cat Face Dress and the CYTPrimeDesign cat face stockings, as well as a number of black cat tee-shirts from other sellers. My favourites are the "Cat hair is lonely people glitter" and "Cat hair is the new black", both from LookHuman.com.

On Amazon directly, I have both a BAMF rifle style umbrella (on my "Want > Need" wishlist) and the even-cooler Kikkerland saber umbrella (on my "Want > Wallet" wishlist), both of which I would so totally open inside. Mostly so people could see how cool they are.

Also, 13 is my lucky number! :)

u/alittlekink · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I love my bubble umbrella!

No matter what direction the rain is coming down, I can protect myself without impacting visibility. It's been a life saver at times when, with a solid umbrella and sideways rain, I wouldn't have been able to see in front of me as I walk.

Only complaint is that it creates a mini updraft inside the umbrella that blows my hair around if it's not pulled back.

Just some practical bonnagifts. These are things I've aquired over the years that make me feel like a baller at festivals.

Take this as someone who's lived in Denver their whole life.

Colorado's weather is crazy! Last year we had floods up the rear! I couldn't leave the house without getting wet so I defiantly recommend a good sturdy umbrella like this one I defiantly could've used it!

Also if you're ever in Denver, I recommend visiting Voodoo Doughnuts , their doughnuts are by far the best!

Have fun in Colorado! They aren't lying when they say the air is fresher here! c:

u/jDeLaBay · 2 pointsr/EDC

I actually decided against pepper spray, it could blow back into you depending on the weather, and who wants to carry around a can that you might never use? I actually thought about a knife/gunless EDC and this is what I've decided on.

  • Unbreakable Umbrella
  • Gerber Impromptu
  • Tactical Flashlight. My preference will be the ThruNite TN12 2014. 1000 lumens for $50.

With these they'll actually have some use other than self-defense and won't just be sitting in your pocket waiting for emergencies.

u/xenofan · 2 pointsr/fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Actually this one.
I'm nervous about bringing it on my college campus though

I spy with my little eye. (And your contest is better than any other currently running I SPY related things, /u/186394.)

Umbrella!

Why the downvotes? I have one and it's a perfectly good umbrella.

I purchased the Unbreakable umbrella ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C2TI14E?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 ) and I have yet to find a fault with it. It's stood up to the strongest winds I've seen years.

  1. That's a lot of pants. See if you can bring it down to 1 pair of chinos, 1 pair of jeans, and 2 pairs of shorts. Pick the most versatile pairs. I'd drop a pair of CDBs and add another pair of sneakers. Remember that CDBs don't work with shorts, and you'll be able to travel with the bulkiest pair of shoes on your feet. If you're gonna do laundry, you might as well drop the number of shirts too. Bring PJs and a microfiber towel if you're staying in a hostel.

  2. I like a jacket like this for summer wear, because it is decently warm, very breathable, and can be packed tightly. If you're looking for something special to add to your stuff, I recommend waiting until you're already there. Your money might be better spent on food, gifts, etc.

  3. Shoot for carry-on luggage only. I know it's tough to pack, but it is soooo much less stressful flying without worrying about your luggage. Depending on how you want to do it, either a suitcase like this or a hiking backpack would be a good fit. I prefer the suitcase, even though you'll have to drag it on on some bumpy cobblestone roads. With the suitcase, you get to have the smaller backpack as well, meaning extra space and an everyday bag if you want to carry it everywhere. Don't keep anything you want to keep in the front pocket of your Everlane bag, it's a super easy pickpocket pocket.

  4. Make sure you've got sunglasses and a hat, you'll probably be outside a lot. Get something like this to go along with this, and keep an extra battery like this if you think you'll be using a lot of juice on your phone taking pictures, etc. A small umbrella might be useful depending on where you go, and can be stored in the water bottle pocket of your backpack. Download maps ahead of time with google maps and use Mapway Limited apps to navigate transit offline.

  5. Dress how you want, DGAF. Staying away from branded stuff can help you blend though. Killshots scream American to me, but I don't know their reputation in other countries. Targets tend to be the fannypack tourists that are obliviously standing in front of major attractions.

Okami is my most favorite game of all time. And it draws inspiration from a very worthy place! I should get a switch just for LoZ:BotW (not the first time I bought a console primarily for a single game) but I should replace my car that recently died instead. And build a nice PC as well after that.

My most recent shirt was the far bottom left (light sky blue) one here. And a few others from yetee. And yes, a bit envious of your shirt so I just bought one for myself. I think my favorite promo item I have though is an umbrella.

u/gooseygandy · 1 pointr/amazon

Consider a waterproof backpack and rain jacket instead. You'll be hated much less walking down the street. But your run of the mill umbrella will work fine.

u/typeronin · 1 pointr/vancouver

I bought this one off Amazon. It was $16US at the time and has a lifetime warranty: https://www.amazon.com/EEZ-Y-Windproof-Construction-Compact-Umbrella/dp/B01403HDO8/

Not that it would break or anything. It has 9 ribs and the canopy is made of teflon, so you give it a quick shake and you have a pretty dry umbrella to fold up.

u/fleurin · 1 pointr/femalefashionadvice

I bought mine in a store but it's like this one
(edit) and here's another one from Australian company Solbari
