There's not much out there with Toriyama Dragon Ball GT artwork because... well... he didn't DO much artwork for it! Toriyama contributed some early character, landscape, and logo designs, and that's about it.

One place to start is the recent "Chogashu" (or "Super Art Collection") from 2013. His main design work is printed here in beautiful quality. This is available via Amazon Japan.

This stuff was originally printed in the two Dragon Ball GT: Perfect File books, which were released in 1997 but received reprints in 2006. Of course, being guide books for GT, they contain MUCH more than that, especially in terms of character designs. You will probably have to track these books down on the second-hand market.

Another (small) source of promotional GT artwork from the other main designers (folks like Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru) is the 2010 Golden Warrior art book. You'd think there would be more, but there are only a couple pages. Again, you'll need to track this down on the second-hand market.

Interesting. I had always assumed it was only the original GITS manga that had been censored for English audiences - however I have never seen that page before. Looks like it might fit somewhere about 10 pages in to chapter 1, judging from the seated pose of Motoko at the top.

Anyways. With GITS 1.0, it was my understanding that v2 (edition) was uncensored and v1 (edition) was censored. This would lead me to assume that your provided link was for the uncensored edition. However, I wanted to apply this new knowledge (that an uncensored version of translated GITS 2.0 might exist), so I just did an amazon search and noticed something careful about the descriptions for these two products. It seems it may be reverse for the GITS 2.0 manga.

  • GITS 2.0 (assumed v1 because no other indication is made)
  • GITS 2.0 (v2)

If you carefully compare the descriptions, you will notice only the first link (assumed v1) contain the text "M Ages 18+ MATURE CONTENT" - in addition to this, you can inspect the covers of both products and you will find only the first one contains a "Mature Content" label in the bottom right corner.

I wonder if that is the one you're looking for (the 1st edition of GITS:MMI).

    ------

edit this information is reinforced by the isbn db

  • ISBN10: 1935429035
  • ISBN10: 159307204X

However, I noticed you said the Kodansha print you have is censored, and according to my information the Kodansha print might be uncensored. If you can verify your ISBN value matches the ones in the link, then that might help me narrow down further.

Far as I'm aware, yes. They also come in paperback for about half the price:

Volume 1

Volume 2

I picked up both of those a few weeks back, and again, they should have the bulk of what's been released already, aside from the Andromeda ones that have just started releasing. Main difference between them and the library editions is price and that they're paperback.

This is all of the original, Shirow did oversee and approve the production of Global Neural Network (GNN) released in 2018 but that is him overseeing several western artists and writers.

It is more like a 0.5 in the same way that HEP/1.5 is between vol 1 and MMI.

GNN runs from "early" 2029 (undisclosed date) to October 27th 2029, and Vol 1 is March 5th 2029 to September 18th, 2030.

While I would say "nothing is ever in the same universe" there is something that happens in GNN that stop you being allowed to say that. Also, he is well known for never having anything to do with the other versions, so, having something to do with this makes it more so something "by him" than by others. So if you want "all of his work" then I would suggest getting GNN alongside (but read it based on release time with all other work i.e. after the movies, SAC, ARISE and 2017).

Currently there are 4 volumes out. I only thought there was 3, looks like one was published over her recently. Kanzaki published 7 in Japan, so we have some time to catch up thankfully.

I think the hardcover library editions are out of print, but you can always get Mass Effect Omnibus Volume 2 which collects the same issues.

And here is a link to Mass Effect Omnibus Volume 1 which collects everything from the first library edition in case anyone is looking for that.

u/Overlord3k · 1 pointr/AnimeDeals

Looks like Amazon price matched Dimension W volume 1. That is the only one I bothered to check so no idea about the rest.

u/NYstate · 1 pointr/television

Incredible. The manga is better, I read the Dark Horse one from the 90's.
The original anime movie was a pretty good adaption of the book. The show took the elements of both and made it a dystopian future show.

u/lepracan · 1 pointr/suggestmeabook

Not too uncommon; most series that get an official translation are very popular. But don't be disheartened! You can look into older series.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Toradora, Guin Saga, Kino's Journey, Shakugan no Shana, Slayers(or try here), Gosick, Seikai: Crest of the Stars, Adventures of Duan Surk, Zaregoto, Psycho Busters, Full Metal Panic. Note here. I have not bought from rightstufanime, but they have older out of print stuff.

For newer stuff that I neglected to include, The Irregular at Magic High School, Black Bullet, Strike the Blood, The Isolator, [Trinity Seven](http://www.amazon.com/Trinity-Seven-Vol-Magicians/dp/0316263672/ref=pd_sim_14_19?ie=UTF8&dpID=51CzJOSWijL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR107%2C160_&refRID=1Q3F3Y76HEVKVT3ER83G], Durarara, Accel World.

For your brother saying he read the previous lsited items already, I think he could appreciate Baccano and Rising of the shield hero. The shield hero fan translation is the webnovel, and there is a bit of diversion, and the light novel version is better edited, in my opinion.
Baccano had the first novel somewhat translated, but that did not continue (to my knowledge).

So ask him about these new titles, and the 2 I mentioned again. But remember if you choose one, triple check its the light novel version.

It's a good read. I just looked it up and Amazon says Vol. 14 will be out in November. Time to catch up.

Have you tried any of the older Gundam series yet? If you like military history, the Universal Century series should be to your liking, and in my opinion they're far superior to Wing in almost every aspect.

If you're interested, I'd recommend starting with the first series (my favorite anime and the peak of the series) and watching on from there in production order.

Keep in mind that the Universal Century series all take place in the same universe and have connections. I wouldn't recommend watching them out of production order. Also, I'd only recommend watching the compilation movies after you've seen their respective series. You don't get the same amount of character development from the movies, and in the case of the Zeta Gundam movies, they have a different ending that ruins the original's tone.

Production Order:

Mobile Suit Gundam (Series: 1979; compilation movies: 1981–1982)

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (Series: 1985; compilation movies: 2005-2006)

Mobile Suit ZZ Gundam (series: 1986)

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (movie: 1988)

Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket (OVA: 1989)

Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (movie: 1991)

Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (OVAs: 1991; compilation movie: 1992)

Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (Series: 1993)

Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (OVAs: 1996, compilation movie: 1998)

Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn (OVAs: 2010)

You can download most of the series on BakaBT. Just search Gundam. Keep in mind you need to make an account, which is free.

Oh, and one more thing. The original, 1979 series also has a manga that was written and illustrated by the series' character designer and lead animator, Yoshikazu Yasuhiko. It's called Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, and Vertical, Inc. has recently began releasing it in the West. Honestly, Origin is not just a great retelling of the original series, but also an amazing manga. If you're interested, volume one is currently available and preorders are available for volumes two through four. There should be around 12 volumes in total.

Here are the links for the manga on Amazon:

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Vol. 1- Activation

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Vol. 2- Garma

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Vol. 3- Ramba Ral

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Vol. 4- Jaburo

(plugging a story I like/ignore everything past here if you want) If you ever get an opportunity to buy, borrow, download or simply "read online" the (always localized ._.) manga "Battle Angel Alita" (or "GUNNM") I don't think you'll regret it.

The original run was eight volumes and each volume is essentially a single arc with the eighth ending the story. (before the author rebooted/retconned in a sequel stating that "they made me end it a way that I didn't want to and far sooner than it should have.)

The characters in GUP Little Army are elementary schoolers, so there shouldn't be anything NSFW. There isn't anything like that in GUP proper (where they're high schoolers), so it should be fine.

There aren't any warnings in Amazon.com, so there's that too.

Raws are the chapter of the manga that still in its original Japanese text. Compiled is the Volume book that put together all the published chapters of the manga. Like these ones:

Girls und Panzer manga Vol. 1-4

https://www.amazon.com/Girls-Panzer-Vol-2-Projekt/dp/1626920648/
https://www.amazon.com/Girls-Panzer-Vol-3-Projekt/dp/1626921016/
https://www.amazon.com/Girls-Panzer-Vol-4-Projekt/dp/1626921539/

Girls und Panzer: Little Army Vol. 1 and 2

https://www.amazon.com/Girls-Panzer-Little-Army-Vol/dp/1626921180/

These are all the official English version of the manga volumes of Girls und Panzer and Little Army released by Seven Seas Entertainment in case you want to buy them legally.

As for the scanlators translations, here's the /ak/ wiki site for GuP. though there's dead links to the chapters posted there and you can only download. If you only want to read the chapters: there's the Batoto website where you can read most of the current GuP manga translated by /ak/. You just have to register an account there to read them though.

I found most of them together at a Half-Price Books store (which was nice because I could see the actual condition, so maybe consider checking your local used bookstores every few months), and then I think I found the last two or three through Amazon marketplace or Abebooks (which I think is owned by Amazon now anyway). I will add that none of this money would actually go to the publisher/IP owners since this is a secondary sale. Also, you may find this or other software tools helpful in setting up an alert when drops to a price you're happy with.

I think a good one for her would be Osamu Tezuka's Astro Boy, which is child-friendly, absolutely fantastic, and is a pioneering manga that influenced many of the series that followed it (ex. Dragon Ball). It has a lot of action and fighting but is also tempered with a warmth and humanism (even though the main character is a robot). Osamu's art style is great and really appealling: he draws his characters in a Disney-esque style (large eyes, cute faces) and is great at imparting emotional expressiveness, is good at conveying action and has a gift for page layout, and his art has a sense of momentum and dynamism that rivals many live-action films. He's also a good manga artist to start with because his style and technique influenced so many authors and series that came afterward (Cyborg 009, Dragon Ball). Dark Horse has published all 23 volumes of it, and although it's out of print you can get used copies of it for a good price. It doesn't really matter which particular volume you get, since each Astro Boy story is generally self-contained and can be understood by reading it in an of itself. (I should also note that the tankoban- i.e. collected volume- release of the series presents the stories in Tezuka's preferred reading order rather than chronologically.)

Here's a link to Vol. 1 of the Dark Horse edition: https://www.amazon.com/Astro-Boy-Vol-Osamu-Tezuka/dp/1569716765/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=&qid=1573781433&sr=8-2
