If you like project cards than plastic ones are way better than cardboard ones. And if you do projects with a lot of colors it is amazing to have a Pako needle organizer. I do a lot of Dimensions Gold Collection kits and keeping my needles threaded makes it a lot faster. Other than that the obvious stuff like good scissors with sharp points and a bright light.

I ordered it off amazon- it seemed more functional than an organizer that keeps the rolls on a spindle!

Edit: This is the one I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IA7QLPW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This would be good for a bigger washi collection, imo: https://www.amazon.com/InterDesign-Stackable-Organizer-Eyeglasses-Sunglasses/dp/B00L43I180/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1488126310&sr=8-2&keywords=eyeglasses+organizer

You have to get the right kind of leather, something fairly thin. Optionally you could use a thicker leather and prepunch your holes using a leather lacing punch.

I bought one of these punches to do some work with some fairly thick leather I had. I had found so many more things to use it on it's kinda crazy, lol.

I’ve been enjoying this little hobby holster I bought. It clings to your sewing table without adhesives and I store my thread snips, seam ripper and hem gauge in it so they’re always at hand but not being knocked off the table while I’m sewing. If she doesn’t already have one, I love my spool rack. It’s mounted on my wall and the pegs are long enough for a spool and matching bobbin. It’s really helped cut down on accidentally buying thread I already have!

Edit: snips not ships!

This is also helpful to me. I splurged on a Pako needle organizer from Amazon here:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002UP67K0/ref=sxts1?ie=UTF8&qid=1492107143&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65

I do as you mentioned (mixing my threads ahead of time) and load them on needles, waiting and marked on this organizer. That way I can just switch out without slowing down my stitching steam.

also this https://www.amazon.com/Durham-384-95-Cold-Rolled-Steel-Height/dp/B006WQONL8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1482313723&sr=8-4&keywords=wire+spool+rack

you could buy this. its 45 bucks or if you are good with your hands you could easily build one out of wood. for a lot less. could do it for the cost of a 2x4 and a few screws and dowel rods.

This is more like my grandmother had, but it had the cloth sides and basket edges like the one I have, and the inside had the pin holder and all on the lid.
