Fake cameras on amazon even have flashing lights. Pretty easy and 7 bucks.

If you are a bit technical you can use an old phone as an IP camera with a free app and lean it against a window if a suitable one exists.

You can then use a trial version of something like blueiris to record stuff on your computer, with motion detection etc.

It's not as easy as a bought in solution but it's free.

Heck, you can spend 20 bucks and get a REAL wifi camera to put up and get video showing the situation. Look up WyzeCam cameras.
