I will recommend you the following:
Use the ones being sold by Cameron Sino, I have 4 of them fully packaged in their nice display boxes (I keep all LiIon/LiPo batteries in special stored circumstances that batteries are kept in), currently they are exactly the same OEM batteries being used in the Vita, I'll try linking you them now:

I can personally vouch to you, that these are excellent batteries to purchase, they will be supplied to you in a very nice packaging box (rather than how other sellers tend to just push it out in small plastic resealable bag :/), they are the original Vita OEM batteries, but as smaller businesses love buying parts (bulk) in China, that can in future become relatively hard to source, they re-brand them completely and sell them on thereafter avoiding any problems in the long-run by the original manufactures, thus why I recommend getting a couple if you plan on keeping and playing the Vita's for the next few years.
I hope that this helps.
AFAICT these ones (Cameron Sino) are the best brand you can get

Insten seems to be junk, KMD has mixed reviews. Others are just knock-offs or old/used original batteries.
Probably modding your battery with a cell replacement or even an internal battery might be the safest bet.

Would be awesome if there was a voting page on battery preference and durability... I was searching for the same information and got to this post.
Here are my notes from 2012, I can't be arsed to check them, but I hope they help you.

For the guides, Wololo is a great resource. They have tons of information. Or just google it.
For the 2000's you'll want to update to 6.61 and then use Davee's 6.61 Infinity. There are ton's of guides for installing it, and it is pretty straightforward.
For memory, use this and slap in a 64gb or 126gb microSD card
For batteries I bought 2 of these
So far they have been good, and I get about 5-6 hours of use, depending on what I am doing / playing.
One of them messed up the first time I put it in the PSP but I got in contact with the company on Amazon and they shipped me another no questions asked.
And you will only really need a pandoras battery if you want to use TimeMachine ( boot a different firmware than what is installed on your NAND ) or somehow brick one of the PSP's ( pretty hard to do if you are careful )
But do note, that the batteries I listed cannot be used as a pandoras battery ( they have a fake PCB that does not correctly read a serial number / can't be written to ) So you will have to find an original if you want a pandoras, or one of the ones sold specifically as a pandoras.

Insten Rechargeable Replacement... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QGTUILU?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I've got 2 for my Go, an official one
, and another cheapie charging one from amazon that I can't even find a link for anymore.
for the psp 2k's I've got tv out docks as well
Like this
I just ordered one of these batteries because I bought a BRAND NEW PSP-3000 that came with a battery that is puffy. I went to my local indie retro game shop and bought a PSP battery there. They only had these crappy ones and unsurprisingly it is shit. They literally last LESS THAN AN HOUR!!! I wasn't too worried, because I actually only paid $5 for it after trading in something I didn't need, but I still need a better battery.
It is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, so I will report back and let you know how well it goes.
Well, the best thing to do is try to stick to the actual Sony PSP batteries. Unfortunately, that's a bit expensive, but the off brand ones are just garbage. They have bigger batteries for each model, but they do add some bulk. Also make sure you're getting the right battery for the right model. I honestly don't even mess around with bigger batteries, I've just got a battery bank that I carry around and plug my PSP into it with one of these when it's low.
I found this one for $8. If you're willing to put in a bit of time for disassembling it, then it's probably worth it.

The PS3 controller connects via Bluetooth, so the PSP X000s will not function this way as they lack BT.
The PSP Go has Bluetooth (as does the Xperia Play phone/handheld hybrid) so they both have been shown to be able to connect with the PS3 controller (maybe someone can provide a specific example or tutorial). To get the PSP Go connected to a TV you will need the PSPGo cradle. Keep in mind that one of the reviews says the cradle does not come with the cables to do TV out ... so that will be extra.
Also I've read in /r/Android that you can do PS3 controller over BT + Android phone -> TV, though it may need some software/HDMI cable to do so, depending on your setup (and whether or not your TV has WiFi).

A bit more expensive, but it seems to be more promising than the really cheap ones.
I purchased this battery from Amazon and it's working great so far.

Cameron Sino batteries have been reliable in my experience. In the past I also purchased their batteries for the PSP Phat and the of 3ds(extended battery pack) and haven't had issues so far
Buy one of these and start over as a last resort.

Just need to make yourself a magic memory stick.
You could also ask a friend if you could temporarily mod their battery.
Yes?

I assumed it was a cover for the battery to protect the contacts if you put it in a bag, like my camera batteries come with.
I feel like you're deliberately trying to confuse me until I conceed ignorance and sulk away...
I know I need a 5v power supply.... I was never trying to avoid that. Supplying the power externally is by no means the problem... The video I linked already solved that problem.
I'm trying to take it an extra step and have external power AND rechargeable batteries that are recharged by external power (you know.... Like a mobile phone).
I know I can acheive this with a lipo such as https://www.amazon.com/Ofeely-3000mah-Lithium-Polymer-Rechargeable/dp/B017D6OR8O .
I'm now curious if this can be acheived with 6x 1.5v 14500 lithium-ion
Also... I've seen tutorials where multiple tp4056s are powered by a single usb... So... ?
Yeah, I'll link you to one on Amazon. Give me a bit.
Edit* Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charger-Compatible-PSP-110-PSP-1001-PSP/dp/B00Z92T4XS/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1536011190&sr=8-6&keywords=psp+charger
That's the one I personally use and I haven't had an issue with it for the year I've owned it. If there's one complain with it, it's that the barrel connector is a bit loose when inserting into the PSP's port.
Then there's this combo pack:
https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Power-Charger-PSP-2000-Sony/dp/B00A6OX5R0/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&qid=1536011190&sr=8-18&keywords=psp+charger
Comes with a battery which I've personally used too. Worked okay for 6 months but I would literally have to open it up every so often and short circuit it to get it recognized and back to life. Pretty annoying. Then around a month ago it started rapidly loosing its capacity and I'd only get 15minutes to an hour on it, which was just sad so I tossed it but saved some parts (case and board).
Note: The second link will likely take long to get to you since it's based in China I believe. First link should arrive within a week since it ships from the U.S.
Only reason I put the combo pack up there is so you can test how crap those batteries can be and it's really not much more expensive than the charger alone, if you can wait a bit longer.
Cheers!
Here's the battery that I bought from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-Replacement-Compatible-Sony-PSP-PSP-2001/dp/B00QGTUILU/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=psp+3000+battery&qid=1571427796&s=videogames&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzOVBYMDk5WDZITFJUJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDMyMTU5M1VSOFBYRkw4OE05UCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDMyOTg3M0FDTTlFT1dNSlVKVSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

Same brand, diffrent version.
This should work. I ordered one from Amazon a few years back and it still works
https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Battery-Sony-PSP-Player-BrilliantStore/dp/B000E7ORP8
It hasn't come in yet, so I make no promises about quality.
The SD card is 1gb, it's pretty old. The battery looks exactly like this one, I don't know if that's an original battery or not since I've never seen one before, I did buy this PSP secondhand on Amazon though.
edit: Checking around it seems this is a generic battery.
edit 2: Yeah, I found this exact battery on Amazon. The reviews seem to confirm it is likely the culprit behind the power issues.
yep I use one like that, except it has multiple heads on it for charging older DS models and my PSP.
